We were chatting about great restaurants and sharing recommendations when this restaurant came up…read more It was already on my to-go list, so the conversation compelled me to visit even earlier. Craft Grille operates out of Schoolcraft College at Vistatech Center, and is located right next to American Harvest, another favorite restaurant of mine. The Brewing & Distillation Technology program creates the brews here, and I believe the food is cooked by students. On a Tuesday evening during the summer, the main parking lot was ripped up and closed off during construction, but I still found my way to the small pub underneath all the scaffolding. A ballgame was playing on the TV while the bartender was chatting with the sole guest at the bar. I knew that I would be having the Porto in Paradise Burger, but I still glanced at the menu to see what was available. Everything looked good and next time, I plan to have the BLT, wings, and parfait flight. The burger I ordered was served medium-rare, featured an 8oz steak patty, topped with a portobello mushroom, and Boursin and provolone cheeses. It was accompanied by a mound of the most amazing sage and roasted garlic fries. I did not expect to like the fries as much as I did. Service was fantastic. The bartender responded to my questions and kept the conversation going with the guests (now 3 of us) at the bar.

The food always tastes fantastically fresh, and the beer hits the spot. I've had the reuben (so tasty) but the grilled chicken sandwich really absolutely blew me away. I didn't know it could make me so happy. On this occassion, I ordered the half-size caesar salad with grilled chicken, and I could feel happy and content that I'd gone the healthier route while still treating my tastebuds. Also, as if to go above and beyond in service, I had a nearby meeting and placed my take away order before my meeting kicked off, telling them what time I expected to be done. When my meeting finished? A freshly made lunch was waiting for me. Magical. Game changing. So happy. The only caveat I could say that it has a very small seating area, and, depending on whether or not there are conference-type events in VistaTech, it can get very busy very quickly. For that I would potentially knock it down to a 4.5 star, but the food and beer quickly makes up for it. So happy to see these kinds of food offerings to Schoolcraft's campus. They've done a stellar job, and it'd be nice to see them expand.

I am so glad to report that even after my 4 years since my last visit to the shop, the cannolis are just as good, probably better than before. The prices are fantastic too!! I will be recommending this place to all my friends in the West Bloomfield area.

They have a great deli, fresh deli sandwiches, deli counter, fresh baked bread, wine, frozen food, sauces or all kinds, a variety of olive oil and so much more. They also have fresh baked cookies and desserts! It's warm, friendly and simple. I enjoyed the Italian music playing in the background as well. They have a senior citizen discount which is good to know. Discounts are always nice! They have been a community staple for most of my life and it sure does have a hometown feel. The other location is big and snazzy, this one is much more condensed. It was a quick in and out visit and that was really nice. I picked up some house made pizza dough, fresh pepperonis, Cantoro's own Alfredo sauce, and freshly grated mozzarella. They have some nicely priced clearance items that got my interest as well. This location is a true local gem and I hope it continues to thrive!
