I've been coming to Great Harvest Bread in Northville for years, and it's always been one of my go-to spots. The staff is consistently super friendly and welcoming, which keeps me coming back. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and the atmosphere always feels warm and community-oriented. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Pepperoni and Italian Pizza Rolls. The dough itself was delicious, as always -- soft, fresh, and full of flavor. However, I did notice that the rolls didn't have much meat filling inside. I mostly tasted the dough, with only a small amount of the pepperoni/Italian filling that the rolls are advertised with. Considering they're roughly $9, I was hoping for a bit more of that savory filling. That said, I still enjoy coming here and appreciate the friendly service and quality bread they're known for. Hoping this was just a one-off experience, because this place has been a longtime favorite of mine. read more

Great harvest has some fantastic baked goods! Some of our favorites are the breads and their rolls. The garlic cheese bread is top tier and the rolls when baked at home are so delicious! This location has been around at least a couple of decades and I have been a patron on and off for most of that time. I am happy that there is such a bakery in the area and it is very solid! The one theme that seems to extend throughout the years, they are not overly friendly. Some associates don't offer samples and the last time I was there, I greeted the associate without any return acknowledgment. This isn't the first time. Who knows the reason, but for it would be nice to have the feeling of being welcomed. read more

This place is very expensive and the bread is okay, not great. A loaf of the Cheddar Garlic Bread is $10.95 and it doesn't have a ton of cheddar nor does it have a strong garlic flavor. I've found better cheese bread for less at Holiday Market in Canton and East Detroit Bakery on the other side of town in Eastpointe has some of the best cheese jalapeño bread in the metro area. Even Zingermann's in Ann Arbor, although expensive, offers better artisanal quality bread for around the same price. After buying such an expensive loaf here, it motivated me to bake my own cheese bread at home which turned out more delicious and at only a fraction of the price. read more

The gentleman working the counter was really warm and welcoming Picked up a blueberry muffin for my husband and a pizza role for me because who doesn't like a good pizza role ! I was enjoying a beautiful day in downtown Northville when I wandered into this bakery. It had been a few years since my last visit. Previously, I was disappointed with the quality of the Cheddar Garlic bread and started to use my bread machine more frequently - especially during COVID. The bakery is huge. Along one side, Peet's coffee, sandwiches, and salads are served. Perpendicular to it, there are shelves loaded with a variety of bread. The location also sells cookies and muffins. As a huge fan of apple pies, in general, I was intrigued by the apple pie bread. In addition, I will always pick up a pepperoni roll, whenever it is available. Since it was after lunch and I still had not had anything all day, I dove into my purchases as soon as I exited. I took advantage of one of the empty patio tables under the eye-catching purple awning for an impromptu outdoor meal. The cheese had burst out of the mitten-shaped roll, still warm from the oven. I enjoyed the slight spiciness of the pepperoni and nuttiness of the cheese, as well as the soft, chewy bread. It was such a nice snack, in the cool afternoon sunshine. Later on in the evening, I sampled the apple pie bread. The loaf was filled with a ton of softened apples with gooey cinnamon. Immediately, I texted photos to my apple-pie loving family - it was that good. Correction: It was that spectacular. After a piece (okay, three), I froze the rest of the bread so that it would not be a temptation the rest of the evening. Service was friendly. Purchased the sourdough and cinnamon swirl and both were delicious. The sourdough is really good toasted. The cinnamon swirl is full of cinnamon and brown sugar! So so so good! There are 4-6 15-minute designated parking spots in the back lot. read more

Came here on a whim with a friend on a weekday morning and it was by far our best decision. The staff was beyond helpful with making recommendations, showing us all the best baked goods and coffee options we could hope for. Although they didn't have croissants, we were able to get coffee, a fresh bagel, a traverse city cherry muffin and cinnamon rolls. The staff was more than accommodating, they were downright amazing. Genuine people who can provide great service! I got an iced coffee with pumpkin pie flavoring but my favorite was by far the muffin. Well worth the drive! read more

This is my favorite great harvest location and I have been a loyal patron for many years I have lived in the area. Unless I am ordering something for a holiday, I tend to stop by Saturday mornings for muffins and pizza rolls. 9-10am seems to be sweet spot and if you go too late they will be out of things. I have only had the blueberry muffins and it is hit or miss how they are cooked (I prefer them less done) so there are frequent trips when I don't end up getting anything. They no longer have the muffin deals, but that is understandable with price increases everywhere. As for the pizza rolls - the cheese/pepperoni are amazing, but the spinach/feta and cheese/sauce are all bread and not worth it for me. Pizza roll was garbage. There were maybe 5 pepperoni in it. Seriously? These are the pizza rolls I've heard people rave about? No. Their cheddar garlic bread is to die for but after this pizza roll thing, I'm not really sure I want to come back. $5.75 for a hollow loaf of flavored bread. What a disappointment. We have been fans of this place over the years. My mother comes here from out of town and buys 8-10 loaves at a time. We had an employee (the one with the arm tattoos) "help" us (they usually are just wonderful!) and she was devoid of personality. They all probably 12. kinds of bread listed on the board and they were out I'd many of them - honey whole wheat (a staple!) sourdough, whole grain sourdough, Dakota. It was so disappointing. The counter lady just shrugged with zero explanation. I didn't see the owners around this time. We left with three loaves only. Oh and my mom had a free loaf coming to her and the counter lady charged her full price and ignored it. Not sure I'll come back due to the bad experience. We used to drop $500 a year here. read more

Every single time I come in to this place I have the best experience ever. Every single employee is so friendly and seems to genuinely be happy about what they're doing. Even if they didn't have incredible bread and the best pizza rolls I've ever had (which they do!), I'd come here just for the service. What a wonderful, happy place. Since it is in the downtown of Northville, parking is difficult. There is no handicap parking for this place and the owner parks her expensive car at the back door deliberately taking up both of the spaces. When asked if she could just use one of the spots so a handicap person could use the other, she said (a direct quote) "I won't do that." Very unkind not to mention so inconsiderate to a long-time customer who just wanted to grab some items and leave. Shameful. Also we agree with another review that they have gotten skimpy on ingredients. Fortunately, there is lots of good bakery competition. read more

Ordered some sandwiches and a loaf of bread online for delivery to my house through a third party delivery service. Upon arrival the loaf of bread was missing. I called GHB to let them know the loaf of bread wasn't received and rather than offering me a refund, the owner/manager offered to personally drive the loaf over to my house. I gladly accepted the offer. They asked if I would be home to accept the delivery and I told them to leave it on the front porch as I may be out walking my dog. To my surprise, I came home from my walk to find the bread on my porch and some home made dog treats for my pooch! Talk about outstanding food AND service! Thank you GHB for everything. read more

The fragrance of baking bread wafting from Great Harvest always draw us into the shop. The delicious cookies, however, are the enticement for our return visits. I don't believe we've met one variety we have not thoroughly enjoyed and scarfed down with embarrassing abandon. Favs are the snicker doodles and sugar cookies. Sadly, the bread samples have not yet enticed us to make a purchase. The bread here simply is too soft, reminiscent of bread from an at-home bread maker. We prefer a crispier crust and a drier interior with more elasticity. We have no doubt that many folks find the bread delicious; it's just not our thing (so far). read more

Great Harvest Bread Company's cinnamon bread is the stuff that carb dreams are made of. This delicately layered bread has veins of sugary-cinnamony goodness woven throughout, allthewhile staying moist, sticky and deliciously reminiscent of a cinnamon bun. I like to take a slice and ever so lightly toast it to bring out its sweetness. If I am going all out I add a light layer of butter before sinking my teeth in this treat. All of their breads are a winner, but besides the obvious cinnamon variety my favorites include Dakota bread and garlic cheese. How do I know they're all good? Simple. Samples. Generous ones at that. I appreciate the ability to sample, this way you can see if you are going to like it before being stuck with a loaf you might not like. Not like you will have that problem here, though. Their cookies are humongous and not overly sweet. They are quite perfect, actually. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite, but I won't ever kick their chocolate chip ones out of my bed for crumbling, either. Ooooh, bad joke alert! Kidding aside, when you're in the area just stop by. They have a deli menu with soups and sandwiches which I hear are good. Upon a recent trip, I tried their Fall Corn Bread, made with Banana Peppers rather than jalepenos-what a treat! The perfect marriage of sweet corn and a little bite of spice with the peppers. Sandwiches are fresh and made on your choice of bread - try the high fiber blend, and the soups are fresh and unique - tomato basil has tasty tiny cheese filled raviolis swimming throughout. But, if there is one bread on your bucket list it has to be the Cheddar Garlic Loaf. With generous chunks of cheddar and cloves throughout - perfect for dunking, dipping toasting or just simply chowing on. If you have a sweet tooth, try their cookies-one is enough to split with about 4 people. If you come across a broken one on display, they are typically only a quarter - so be on the lookout! read more

Which is too bad, because the bread tastes great, but the texture is off -- chewy by being doughy instead of from good gluten structure. Also tried a sour cherry bran muffin and a sugar cookie -- both were good. I just can't stomach paying $7 for a loaf of underbaked bread :-/ 4 loaves in a row now that have been underdone... The bread is fantastic, I must try their pancake mix next visit, but the reason I'm writing today is the new sandwiches!! Super fresh, made to order, obviously on fabulous bread. High quality meats and cheeses, not to mention the veggies! I tried the Italian, with salami, ham and provolone on sourdough which included lettuce, tomato and banana peppers, with a light "dressing" which was just the perfect amount of vinaigrette for a fabulous sandwich. Ordered a basket on Tuesday for a family hosting guests for a funeral. Delivery was to be on Thursday, received a text (Not a Call) Thursday night at 8:45 stating "Sorry you basket did not get delivered, we were busy with Corporate Orders and assumed your order was for Christmas and could wait. Can we deliver on next Tues. for 50% off." We have ordered here before, but Never Again. Usually buy baked goods and breads here and would give these 4-5. Tried it today for lunch and I would say they have some work to do. Food is of sound quality but service is weak. Also, today they decided to turn iff the grills so we could not have a hot sandwich. A menu should not be an optional menu based on the day and how busy things are ( today is Made in Michigan fair). Recommendation: work harder to convert this place from a pure play bakery to a place that serves prepared foods for lunch - also known as a restaurant.
