If you have natural hair don't go. She asked me to leave her chair and ended the appt. I walked out on my birthday and will never return. Blurred out personal details of my appointment, but I don't lie about establishments and this was the WORST. I have natural type 4 hair and initially she has a friendly demeanor but I am not convinced Cali is able to take constructive criticism or concerns during an appointment. She immediately became defensive and told me she was uncomfortable that I was uncomfortable so I should leave. This was after I expressed that I did not like the job she did on my blowout with nitrile gloves on her hand the entire time. Eventually I said she can go ahead and flat iron and she said no. She did a decent head massage, she needs to take her time with curly hair but was very rough at the sink, ripping out my hair, during which I did not complain and the blowout was terrible. I voiced I was not happy with the blowout when I noticed my "blow out " was the roughest I had ever received. That's the most important part of silk press on natural hair. She thinks I was complaining about the texture of my hair feeling rough due to the STS but my concern was about her actual blow out skills. I was kicked out at 1:30. I drove home 20 minutes away. I immediately took pictures and posted before 2:00 pm. This is 100% Cali's blowout on natural hair and I'm going to clean up after her. Salon is clean. read more

I had the best experience with Cali. I moved to the DMV a year and a half ago and had yet to find a new hairstylist. Or even try someone. My coworker said she went to Cali recently for the first time and had a great experience. She sent me Cali's info and I finally decided to rip the bandaid. I also decided to fully trust her and scheduled the haircut for 5 hours before a marine birthday ball. I decided to go all in! I've had long hair for a very long time and I've been incredibly bored with it. I told Cali I needed a change, showed her some pictures and she made it happen! She made sure I was ok with how much I said I wanted to cut it and then took her scissors to my dry hair and cut off a full ponytail. It felt invigorating. I immediately felt 5lb lighter! Her entire setup is client centered, from the chair massager to lie in while she washes and massages your hair, to the tv and mirror to see the tv at all angles. Every detail of her small, but comfortable space is well thought out. It evokes style and calm. My hair turned out exactly what I wanted and even better. Cali even styled my hair at the end without me asking and it was so nice. I only wish hairstylists had appointments to teach clients how to style their hair at home! The service I requested was a coloring of my beard and my hair. Cali reigns supreme in her abilities as a licensed cosmetologist. I was unable to book here about 3 weeks ago and I went to a different, chain, hair styling place and had them do my coloring. They succeeded in the coloring no problem. But they took 45 minutes longer and also managed to get color on my trousers. Needless to say I went running back to Cali. And I won't be going anywhere else again. Cali is so good at what she does. I always hate the way stylists blow out my hair, but Cali does such a beautiful job that I wish I could afford to book weekly appointments. She also did a great job with my first time extensions, which were much cheaper than the Old Town Salon I first consulted with. Her space is cozy and comfortable, and she'll talk if you initiate, but she's happy to do her thing and let you quietly scroll on your phone. So peaceful! read more

I had an AMAZING experience with Cali. I came in without a super clear idea of what I wanted, but I knew it had to be something out-there and fun (after the nightmare of the last two years). We worked together to come up with the idea of a bright pink peekaboo dye, and the results massively exceeded my expectations - the pink looks amazing, *and* Callie added tiny rose-gold highlights to the rest of my hair to harmonize the color. Wow wow wow! I have NEVER walked out of a salon and absolutely loved my hair but this time, I loved it! For reference, my hair is black (demi colored), long and wavy. Cali listened, looked at the inspiration photos and took her time to get my balayage to the perfect color. The cut was beautiful and she really gave me the pampering treatment. I have never been taken care or been given a better service in my life. Her whole vibe was easy, comfortable and calming.
