I even started going to Rhonda when she was located on Rochester, near 13 mile, before moving to Birmingham. Rhonda and her team of aestheticians are out of this world good. I used to get my dermabrasion with a diamond head, it would take off so much dead skin. I think they got rid of the diamond and replaced it with a paddle. It's just as effective, maybe not resulting in as much visual skin slough. I have had dermal planing, skin chemical peels here as well and I used to buy my Latisse lash serum from here. Rhonda was always amazing and so delicate, but precise and doing extractions if needed. My skin was always glowing after procedure here. They are skin magicians here. I don't come as often, since I bought my own dermabrasion machine for the house. They do have some gifts, like SPF 50 hats and other fashionable items. I bought a couple sun hats here over the years. I have always wanted to know what was inside that building/house especially with that gorgeous curved front door. Passed it so many times on University. Parking was easy and nice to have designated parking spots for Bare Philosophy. Walked in and had no idea that you had to take your shoes off. I get for cleanliness sake and winter bringing water/salt, but I wasn't expecting it. I walked in and noticed another patron standing inside with her socks on so I followed suit. I didn't notice behind me that they provide slides to wear after you take off your shoes. There was no staff downstairs so no one to greet me or give instructions. There was a sign that said they were short staffed and to help yourself. It was the day before Christmas Eve. Really pretty inside and welcoming. Lots of areas to look at product. There was a coffee machine. Old historical charm throughout! The other client got brought back and I just was standing around. I finally heard someone in the foyer area and was checked in at that point and brought back to a large room for my eyebrow appointment. We spoke a bit about eyebrow shape and how she likes to keep things natural/follow your natural shape. Can always take off more later if I wanted. I think my eye wax was all of five minutes. Trimming, a few strips of waxing, and then tweezing and that's it. Let me have a look in the mirror and I was happy for the most part. I should've asked to trim my eyebrows a little more. But overall content with the shape. I wish there was something to put on my skin afterwards to calm it down since I get red easily. Again, the whole process was super quick, didn't feel overly personalized with an eye brow shaping/waxing but the job got done. The staff who did my brows was very nice and we made conversation throughout my service. I felt comfortable and no pain with the waxing/tweezing. Afterwards, she checked me out and you can give a tip on a card. $20 is a fair price for an eyebrow wax, what I was paying for at another place in the area.

The prices are very reasonable here and while I was loyal to one waxer there, if there was a time or appointment last minute that I had to change and had to go with a different waxer, all the people I interacted with were very lovely. My waxer has since moved on and started her own waxing business, so I no longer go to Bare Philosophy, but I wanted to write them a parting glowing review given how much I have enjoyed my time here! I hadn't a had a facial in years, I was looking forward to this. Earlier in the day while grocery shopping, either my wallet was stolen or I misplaced it. I knew that they had this no show policy where they charge you if you don't come. So I called and told them what happened, that I had no way to pay, considering it was Sunday and there weren't any banks open. I was willing to come in and have the facial (I wasn't technically no showing) I just couldn't pay them at that moment. I was stuck, I had no idea what to do. Then they have the audacity to ask if I could borrow the money from someone!!!!!!!!!!!! Um no, I am a grown woman, I'm not going to go ask a family member to loan me money for a facial. The girl says, "ok well I'm going to talk to my manager about the circumstances and I'll get back with you". It is now five days later (no call from anyone) and guess what comes across on my account. A 59.00 charge for no showing. Actually now that I'm sitting here thinking of it, I gave them my card information when I made the appointment so I wouldn't be bothered having to stop at the desk after a relaxing facial. WHY DIDN'T THEY REMIND ME OF THAT , when I was desperately trying to think of how to pay for it. They certainly didn't forget about my card on file when they wanted to charge me 59.00 for not showing up, but didn't even think of it when considering solutions. Then the final nail in the coffin, they send me this email, asking how my facial with Erin was..................
