There isn't a whole lot in Albany, so i was really surprised by both the existence of Pretoria fields and the quality of this place. It's perfectly situated right by the river in downtown. Parking is a breeze, and after grabbing a few beers it's worth a walk down to the river front. The ambiance is fantastic with a huge indoor area and a large, rustic, and cute outdoor seating area as well. Fans keep bugs and heat down, and they have plenty of yard and table games to keep you occupied. They seem to have a good truck basically every evening, so there's good and varied food options as well. They have a large selection of beer. I wasn't super impressed with my stout, but those are hard to do right. The ipas and lighter beers were great! They also have a huge selection of seltzer flavors which is nice for people who can't have gluten. Staff were super nice but pretty slow. It wasn't a problem since we weren't in a hurry. read more

As a native to this area, I'll say we don't have much in the realm of craft beer. So it was a delight several years ago when Pretoria appeared! I don't leave in Albany anymore, but I always make a few stops here when I'm visiting for this delightful beer. A great addition to Albany, Georgia. The brewery makes some good beer and Justin, the man behind the bar, was personable and knowledgeable about his beer. I enjoyed their wheat beer and they also had a very good stout. The hours aren't the best, but what can you do? I would definitely return here when business finds me in Albany. read more

On a recent solo road trip I came across a mention of Pretoria Fields Brewery in a Georgia travel article. Since I had the time, I decided to stop by. They had a large variety of beers so I ended up getting 2 flights so I could try several. They had a great selection of sours, lagers, ipas, stouts, etc. I enjoyed everything I tried. Had they served food, I would likely have ordered a pint and stayed a while longer. While it's not close to I-75 and is a trek out of the way, I will likely visit again in the future when it makes sense read more

When we travel our favorite thing to do is check out the local breweries. We were staying about a half hour away and a rainy day hit so we decided to drive to Albany to visit Pretoria Fields and we were shocked to find such an impressive place in the quiet downtown area. The selection was wide and varied and I had to order a flight because there were so many I wanted to try! The inside is huge without feeling industrial, it's cozy with large tables and a couple high tops. The outdoor space looked nice for hanging out on a sunny day. They had cans that we grabbed a few to go and a they filled a growler for us. Very much so enjoyed this stop and I loved they grow all their own supplies for the beer. read more

Love love love love this amazing brewery. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. 1. They're beer is delicious. Doesn't matter which beer you get, you'll like it. (Unless you have a certain preference, then you'll still like it). 2. Love how they have their own pizza food truck. Pizza and beer, it literally does not get any better than that. 3. Live music is poppinnnnn. Love how they support local artists. 4. Second Sunday Farmers Markets - I may be biased, but being a vendor for this market is awesome. You could really tell that this business cares and supports other small businesses. Them holding the farmers market means more than enough for small businesses like mine. 5. Community events. They'll hold classes, trivia night, etc., Super fun way to spend time with friends and just feel like a part of the community. 6. Ambiance. Loveee the vibes here. Me and my wife LOVE breweries, and no we are not IPA drinkers. If this wasn't local to us we would never go. The place is amazing and the staff is also great. Only issue is ALL of the beer has a strange super sweet aftertaste. There is 0 beers here that don't have the super holy crap that's sweet taste to it. I don't know if it is the water or the way they brew. Just waiting for a beer that doesn't have that Pretoria after taster. read more

Great find on our travels back to FL. Surprised this is the only micro brewery in the city, but after hanging out there, I am glad sine there would be no reason to leave! Great beers, room to spread out (still in Covid mode) and staff was super friendly. Just wish it was not 3 hours from home! read more

A very refreshing spot in downtown Albany by the riverfront. Excellent selection of beer with a local flair and able to satisfy many palates. From a very hearty Too Far Away IPA to a mild refreshing cucumber melon seltzer. Nice tasting room and brewery that highlights the historic building but with all the modern conveniences. The staff were inviting and very informative about each variety and definitely made us welcome on a hot Saturday afternoon. Look forward to coming back. read more

Pretoria is great for Albany. The beers are decent (and I am picky about beer), but still not really my style. I have had a few, though, and don't mind drinking one every now and then. They have bands and other vendors come out that serve great food and the atmosphere is just wonderful downtown. I appreciate what this company is doing for the image in Albany, because Albany really needs it. Pretoria is a gem in downtown along with the Cookie Shoppe and the Bread House. Smoke & Fire even comes out and does pizza and BBQ from time to time. Kids are welcome. They have chess on tables. Farmer Fredo comes out with fresh produce on the weekends. It's really just a little Mecca of different things and not just beer, but if you like beer, then I suggest you give them a shot. read more

Love to see this type of space in Albany. We ordered some flights and sat down to enjoy board games. It was nice to have that "away" feeling while in Albany visiting family. The ambiance of the place is pretty dark but the set up was neat. A nice outdoor setting with picnic tables. Inside had picnic tables and some high tops. I tried the strawberry gose and another light beer (I think the weisse?). They literally both tasted the same. Literally water, not a slight taste of hops. The gose tasted the most like beer so I picked that one. I can't remember what my friend picked but it tasted like beer but gave you really bad heart burn. They had two sizes, the larger one being $8. It doesn't feel worth it to go back. read more

Great craft brewery in the heart of downtown Albany GA. Great beers, super friendly staff and beautiful tasting room make this a great venue and brewery experience. Sampled the beers and took a tour. Skywater Golden Ale is light and crisp. Shoalie is a deliciously tasty, great IPA. The stout had coffee and chocolate notes and was surprisingly not a heavy beer. Their Gose was subtly tart and finished great. The tour took us into the production area and was quite informative. Looking forward to our next visit read more

A friend and I visited the brewery Saturday evening we arrived about 4:30 to have a growler filled. We had been working in yards all day Mowing and cutting shrubs and immediately notice the dark cool environment. We decided to have a couple of beers . The bartender offered to allow me to put The Growler in the refrigerator while we enjoyed our draft beer. While looking at the chalkboard with the different beers we noticed a strawberry wheat and asked the woman at the counter about it, she was busy leaning against the bar texting on her phone and never looked up and she said well it's strawberry and wheaty. Well ok.. as the name indicates i thought to myself. The bartender apparently overheard her rude response and offered a taste. It was good beer. As i finished my draft, my friend still had a half a glass, so I poured about a half a glass out of The Growler I had just spent $28 for when the rude lady who apparently couldn't look up from her phone to answer a question saw me and came over and proceeded to tell me that I was not allowed to drink my beer in there she again was very rude. If it's against the law or against their rules there should be a sign posted where the patrons can read it. As much as I enjoy the brewery I don't believe I would be able to go back, at least not when this horrible woman is leaning on the bar. read more

Tried my first Stout there and loved it. It is a fun place to meet friends and enjoy a reunion or have a relaxed conversation.
