The recovery room is a great place to chill. They often have live music Wed, Fri & Sat. and the room mix as well as outdoor patio is always tasteful. They vary as to genres but overall quality of the musicians and sound is consistent. Mr. Mike, the owner, is often present and a super nice laid back guy. Melissa and the other bartending staff are very friendly and attentive. Smoking is allowed outdoors on the patio. Generally whether is packed or only a few regulars hanging the place is always chill. Recovery Room is a classic favorite for students at ACOM (the local medical school in Dothan, AL) and employees of SAMC (the hospital up the road). It is not the most spacious bar so it quickly crams up on their busy nights (Friday and Saturday nights). It can especially be crammed the night following an exam at the medical school since many students go to the Recovery Room or another local bar to unwind. The bar is fully loaded and they offer a wide array of cocktails and beers. There is also usually a special on a particular type of drink or shot for the night. They frequently have live music, trivia, or other events going on so be sure to check their schedule of events! Their staff has always been incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's unfortunate that the space is not very large because they usually only have about two people behind the bar at one time on their busiest nights. This can make it difficult to get your drink if you go when they are busy. They have a few scattered board games along with a pool table. They also have giant Jenga and Cornhole on the back patio. The patio is nice if you need to escape from the crowd inside the bar, but, unfortunately, there are usually smokers out back and the patio is not very aesthetically pleasing. The entire patio is a concrete slab with a few scattered picnic tables. On the nights where the Recovery Room is not busy, it's a great place to relax and enjoy great company, whether your company is your friends or the bar staff. My favorite drink is the Code Blue, I highly recommend it! The jell-o shots come in oral syringes and the margaritas come in IV fluid pouches which add to the fun and aesthetic of the bar itself. It's definitely worth a visit but I recommend trying to avoid them on their busy nights. Bonus note: They have a flyer in the ladies room that advertises their participation in the "Angel Shot" program. If you are unfamiliar with this, what it means is if you are with someone at the bar that is making you uncomfortable or feel unsafe, you can order an Angel Shot to alert the bartender. Ordering an Angel Shot neat will alert the bartender to escort you to your car, with ice will tell the bartender to call you a cab, and ordering with lime will tell the bartender to call the police. This is the first bar in the area that I have noticed advertising this program so that is a huge plus for me. I love that they care so much about the people that visit their bar. The Recovery Room isn't perfect but it will always be a go-to for me. read more

Love, love, Love the Recovery Room. They have great bands and it is hard to find good live music around Dothan. They have a great selection of foreign and domestic beer and have good beers on tap. They also have a great liquor selection for those who like the hard stuff. They have really good specials also. There are a couple of really cute bartenders! Pool tables in the back part of the bar, and a very cute outside area out back where you can smoke. Outside there are picnic tables and wormhole and it's fenced in, small and personal. A great place to have a relaxing fun night out to hear good tunes and have good times. Also a great place to go for a date because it's small and not exceptionally loud, so it's an intimate little cozy bar. Great "recovery" spot. Excellent location as well. read more

Recovery Room is a small bar in the end cap of a small strip mall in Dothan. The decor was a cheesy luau motif complete with plastic leis on the tables. There was a single patron around 5:30 and aside from our group of 3 only 2 other patrons arrived by our departure around 7:30. It appears to attempt a brewery vibe by offering a stack of old varied board games, a pool table, a single video game, indoor shuffle board and a small patio with corn hole. We were in search of a local tap house. This was not it. There is no draft beer sold here. There are 4 menu pages of over priced, craft selections from all over the US. Though they had a considerable number of bottles they didn't carry the 1 local Dothan Breweries beer, which is just odd. In addition to a bevy of bottled craft beer they have a full bar and do not appear to offer food aside from grocery store variety snack mix. My coworker munching on said snack mix killed a roach that crawled out from under the container, which the bartender attempted to ignore and a local attempted to mitigate and blame on the rain. I tried a few new to me selections which I enjoyed. One of my friends had few Fairhopes and was surprised to learn they were $7.50 each. There were some selections that ranged upwards of $15.00 for a single bottle of beer. Seems they enjoy really good margins or pay way too much for their beer. Maybe I'm more accustomed to tap houses with draft / flight prices. The young lady behind the bar was friendlyish, but overtly partial to the regulars / locals. Maybe it's a later crowd kinda spot and maybe the cheesy decorations were promotional. The roach on the bar under the bar snacks was gross and dropped my rating to a 2. We finished our beers and left soon thereafter. read more

We stopped by last night to celebrate our May birthdays. Never been there before and was pleasantly surprised. The Recovery Room is a laid back neighborhood pub. Live music, friendly patrons of varying ages was waiting inside. They even have a back patio if you want more elbow room. The young lady behind the bar was outstanding in her craft as hostess, bartender,and waitress! She made the most delicious drink called the Red Cross! RRB you are a hidden gem! read more

My boyfriend & I visited The Recovery Room back in July when we came to Dothan to house hunt. He is a student at ACOM & the bar does a lot to affiliate themselves with the school. We actually didn't know this until I put the bar name & logo together. I'm going to assume the beer selection is the best in town. Craft beer all day. Can't quite remember the bartenders name but they were brothers. Brent and Brad? Brad, I believe, was amazing. He came to our table and went over the beer selections with us until we decided. So attentive & informative. Someone give this man a raise. You can tell he loves his job. The owner was also there - he said hello & introduced himself. Class act. Aside from a great beer selection they have daily specials & live music. The bar itself could be bigger but for being inside a strip mall space is limited. They have about 12 plus tables, a bar, and some outside seating. There are 2 pool tables I believe and a game of giant jenga outback for those too incompetent to play normal jenga - which they also have. Moral of the story is go here. This place has a great craft beer selection and a knowledgeable, attentive bartender. There seems to be live music regularly. They even have a few board/bar games.
