I drive by this location often. This was the first time I stopped in to check it out. I LOVE…read morebreweries! Southern Fields didn't disappoint! I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and there weren't too many people there yet. I could tell immediately, the ambiance was one I would appreciate. I did a flight consisting of several lighter samplers. They were all awesome. The Hefeweizen was my favorite. I spoke with the bartender for quite some time about the brewery and how he got started there, I really appreciated the attention and the service. Everything was on point. If you're in this part of Alabama and have some time, stop in. You'll love it!!

We ate here at noon on a Saturday after they recently added their smokehouse menu. I had the pulled…read morepork dinner, my wife had the smoked turkey. (See photos.) Both were very good, rating a 4 out of 5 stars. The size portion of the turkey was generous, the pulled pork a bit conservative. The smoked elote corn was served cold, which does not help the taste; perhaps a squeeze of lime juice would help bring out the chilled taste. The white cheddar mac was lacking. Their sweet BBQ sauce is amazing, much better than their bourbon BBQ sauce which lacked flavor. Most of our complaints had to do with the ambiance and service. Even though the owners were present, the cook brought out our meals without napkins or silverware, which happened to the next two customers as well---and nothing was done to correct the problem. The tables and chairs were mostly like what one would get second hand at a flea market and a large floor fan blew voluminous amounts of air down through the middle of the seating area, blowing away our napkins, silverware and other items. This did not make for a very pleasant meal! Southern Fields brews their own beer, which we would rate as average. We did not try their distilled rum or vodka, since they are not our liquors of choice. We are from Jackson County and want to see this business succeed. Since there are not many local residents in Campbellton, I would highly recommend giving a generous discount to Jackson County resident to get them to make the drive to Campbellton and brave the tourist traffic to get a good base of return customers. (A Panama City Beach business trick that works well.) I also highly recommend a few well-placed road signs on Route 231 and Route 273 northbound to entice tourists to stop; who are either in a hurry to get to the beach--or to get home after being at the beach. Whenever we go to Dothan, we never see the Southern Fields building until it is way too late to slow down and make the turn to stop. (We will try to come back in a few weeks to update this review since the menu is new.)
