Do NOT purchase their membership! There are a few gifted hands at this place but you have to go through a few mediocre experiences to find them. After patronizing this business for a few years I purchased the membership. I had two credits build up over a time where I had braids. I decided to cancel it until after I was ready to get my hair pressed again. I called the Plano location and the woman that answered treated me like an annoyance. Which is odd because they are not that way in person. Before I cancelled I asked her what their policy was for the unused credits. She said I had a year to use them. So imagine my surprise when I took my braids down, went back in to book, and I had zero credits. I called in and the person I spoke to was unclear on their policy and said she did see the expired credits but that did not seem right. She said she had to check with a manager and that someone would get back to me. A manager called me and stated that per their policy online I had to use my credits 30 days after my cancellation. I was shocked to say the least. I asked her why the employee did not tell me that when I cancelled and she proceeded to say she did not know and to provide her the name of the employee. I was never given a name and this cancellation happened in December. Why would I remember that? She then restated their policy and said it could be found online. Then she had the nerve to say that if I restarted my membership she'd give me a ($25 free deep conditioning). I told her that she would not see another dime from me. It is outrageous not to honor your employees $200 + misstep. I'm appalled that you would not do more for a loyal customer who always tips above the included gratuity and does add ons for every service. Shame on you for being so unyielding for your employees mistake! Will never support this business again. read more

I had an appointment at the Plano location at 3:30. This location called me 15 minutes before my appointment to tell me that the stylist was running an hour behind and that they would have to cancel my appointment. I'd already arrived at the location and mind you I live Downtown Dallas. I typically go the Dallas location but they were full. After a conversation with the young lady who called, she stated I could wait the hour which I was fine with. I then received a second call to inform me that they were canceling the appointment. I'm very disappointed in the service I received. I come to pressed roots, because I need people who know how to do black folk hair. In this case I came across a stylist that did not know what she was doing. She does not know how to properly detangle hair. I have thick curly hair. For her to start my hair then tell she can't do my hair. I have never ever had someone tell me they cannot do my hair. Never ever! It was humiliating to have to leave with my hair all of the place, and find someone who can do my hair. This is the worst thing you could do to a client, the worst. read more

I came the other day and I left with my hair undone because it was not able to be detangled IN LESS THAN 15 minutes!!! DO NOT GO HERE!! What kind of black hair salon only allots 15 minutes to detangle kinky curly hair??? If you can't do all hair types just say that! It's already hard to find hairstylists that actually care for the health of our hair,& to go to a salon with mainly black hairstylists and they say they don't want to take the time to detangle my hair properly, is incredibly disheartening. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Decent Service - All depends on who you get and not possible to book with a particular stylist. Not all of them do the same work. I have a membership and my daughter has had some good times and some bad times more good than bad though. The products used, not sure if some use more than others but my daughter's hair is usually dry and I have to put argan oil or something on it. Not sure if they are spraying holding spray when they add curls but it's not ideal when you expect the client to be able to wrap it. Not that convenient if child is under 12 - My daughter is under 12 so we are only allowed to come on Wednesdays and Sundays. Those are not the most convenient days for me but I make them work if I can. I never understood Wednesdays because that is a school day so 9 times out of 10 the appointment would have to be 4:30 or 5 unless they miss school. Usually the appointments are booked up even a week out most times. I now see why. They allow adults to come on those days as well so the adults take up all of the appointments on Sunday. Although I can't make up the rules it just seems that at least that day would be blocked off for only kids. Reschedule - On a couple of occasions, I have had to wait almost 30 minutes before being seen. Just 2 days ago, although it was only a 15 minute time change, I got a text saying my appointment was changed and no one bothered to call or ask if it okay or anything. Customer Service - There was one time I running late. I called to let the salon know and they said 15 minute grace period. It was 17 minutes. They texted me and called me repeatedly at the grace period to tell me I missed my appointment. I don't blame them at all it was just the aggressiveness of the communication. I can understand a text saying your appointment was canceled or one phone , etc but to text me more than once and call was a bit much especially when I've waited longer to be seen. Ladies in the front are rude. The one lady acted as if she couldn't speak up and had an attitude. My daughter has special needs which should have been obvious to anyone with common sense. The lady in the front insisted on giving my child a sucker to "take the edge off" while laughing about it. This was after my daughter refused the sucker and said that she would eat it after. They have no idea how to deal with the public. When my appointment was over, it was time to pay and the same rude lady who acted as if she couldn't speak above a whisper asked me if I wanted to leave something on top of the service fee. That is super tacky. I have never had any establishment to point blank ask me to my face how much a tip I wanted to leave. I said none, .not only because of the rudeness but the stylist did a horrible job on my child's hair. It is now 4 days later and my daughter's hair is hard, dry, and doesn't even look like it's been pressed. This is even with the extra I paid for "deep conditioning". I told her to put curls and she put curls and then combed them out like my daughter was an adult so no tip. The lady then asked if I wanted to use my card on file and I said no I want to use another card. When I swipe that card, it asked me for a tip as a well which is how it should be done so what the lady did was completely unnecessary. Not only that but she should have started with, do I want to use the card on file and then you can ask. That would have been appropriate. Apparently, she was mad because I didn't tip so when myself and my daughter left and passed by her(she was at the window by the door cleaning it) she said nothing, not a word. VERY RUDE. I started not to say anything but seeing my child's head and the $50 I paid for detangling which I've never done before I had to make a review because this isn't right. I'm 7 months pregnant and rarely do I feel good these days...but, I left Faith's chair feeling refreshed. The shampooing experience was 10/10, truly the best I've ever had. Her attention to detail and her genuine concern for my comfort was really memorable. Her technique and ability to dry and style my hair was unmatched. I couldn't believe how quickly she did my hair and she did it WELL. I was so blown away by her skills and character, I couldn't leave without pre-booking my next appointment. OH MY GOODNESS. This is a game changer for black hair. Pressed roots is a blowout bar for black hair (to my understanding, the website may add more detail). So relocated to Dallas about a year ago for work and have been in DIRE need of a silk press. Sometimes you don't want braids, or wigs, sometimes you just want to wear your natural hair. And so, some friends told me about this place. It was super easy to book an appointment. They greet you at the door with a smile. All the women there had amazing energy. They asked what I wanted to drink and then set me with a stylist. My stylist was Miss Amber and HONEY, she absolutely killed it. She was so knowledgeable and gave me great advice for at home care, to maintain my silk press. My hair is still so bouncy!!! Anyway I just love love love. I will be back and I hope the owner branches out to Houston because the girls would love it! They get all the stars! read more

The hair stylists at this location are very nice ladies, but they do not know how to effectively straighten natural hair. They advertise these services as silk presses and straightening treatments, yet they do not last even 24 hours, and they refuse to correct their mistakes in a timely manner -if at all. Pressed roots has destroyed my hair, and the customer service is straight out of the worst of racist stereotypes. They did my hair on a Monday. On the following day, I report that my hair looks like they didn't do anything at all, as I cannot even COMB it, and they say they cannot see me again to touch it up with a straightener until THURSDAY!? And then want to focus on me using the f-word when I say "they "f***ed up my hair" instead of trying to amend the situation with a refund at the BARE MINIMUM, or having me come in before I have to go to work the following day. They do not acknowledge that the women that come in are doing so because they want their hair to look presentable as they show themselves to the world. Inexcusable. read more

I wish i could honestly give this establishment 0 stars. So my daughter visited this month for a silk press service. Her appointment was timely however upon starting the services she did show the employee what she wanted her hair to look like. Now, we are from florida and my daughter is doing her internship in Texas. Upon reading their social media and reviews the place checks out. Now, ladies as women of color we love to support our people. However, what a mistake, she's flying out the next day we are praying all will be well after seeing pictures of other ladies who have received services. Well, High hopes turned into shattered luck. Now, my daughter is not confrontational and she was a reigning pageant title holder who was actually giving up her title as her reign came to an end after her year of service. All of which was explained to the stylist prior with physical images of what her silk press looks like after done in florida by our Dominican Stylist. She calls me and tells me "we need to book another hair appointment, as she cannot go on stage like this" at this moment I'm like FaceTime me which she does and guess what her hair looks like it hasn't even been touched, her roots were beyond far from what a silk press is. Now the fees here are not cheap so of course we are expecting for her hair to be up to standard. So, i told her DO NOT drive off (mind you poor child doesn't want the tension and besides she's in another state with no family support) I called and spoke with the receptionist and explained the situation which at that point her reply was "I've seen worst" she then told me she would have another stylist take care of her. Only to find out once i hung up thinking everything was good and another stylist would be doing the hair; guess what!! The receptionist tells me at this point because she calls me back after walking back out, she tells me that it's 15 mins until closing so she would have to come back which she explained to my daughter who said ok. Well lady that doesn't work, she has a flight the next day and she has work, this is unacceptable for you have your client walk out unhappy. When we go to a salon any salon we want to receive the services we paid for and be happy about it. The point is no client should ever leave out of a salon unhappy with the services they received and then be told that the next day works because it's closing. She was there prior so why not have someone stay extra to make it right?? No customer service, none!! Either way being that the services were paid for and not executed as promised i believe something should be reimbursed especially being that it was voiced seconds later. Here not there they told me She was to come back at this point why fight they are closing. The next day she decided she is not going to go back because what is the sense now of calling out of work to possibly go back and the same results. So, i called back and told the lady she wouldn't be returning (and explained this as well and again voiced my dissatisfaction. They told me to email their customer service which i did and would you believe no one replied. I had to comment on their social media postings and tag them in a post if mine about my dissatisfaction and that I'm waiting on a reply from my email. It was at that point someone replied and being on vacation I've yet to reply but I'm back now so i will be. In a nutshell they say we won't offer you a refund but another service along with a massage which Joe stay is probably worth more than the service well it is. Again, which point don't they understand we do not want to come back because we are already scared and do not want a repeat. Why not refund my money and have me go on my very way but no. I'm writing this review to let y'all know to beware. They do not have a good stylist and to mention my daughter stated that everyone walking out looked the same, which tells me they do not know what they are doing. For this to be a small an upcoming business being that they have two locations the treatment is unacceptable. Pressed roots has no customer service, oh and their e-mail states they only reply on specific dates but yet still they do not have automatic reply set to state the same. I would like a refund and to never step foot back in this place. You have 24 hours to do so or I'm calling my card company as this service is not authorized! Period! Your service was very deceitful and unmatched. The service looked at if i ran my own blow dryer though her hair and if she got in the steam it would puff back up. That is not a silk press. For the person who posted their picture your ends look ok but those roots are not pressed. This establishment doesn't live up to the name of pressed roots. It is actually untamed and unpressed roots. I had an appointment at this salon and I got there a couple minutes before my time. Receptionist saw my big sized cornrows and told me it's against their policy to come in with cornrows and she would cancel my appointment. I told her I wasn't aware of this policy and asked to speak to a manager. A lady came out and she rudely told me I violated their policy and I'll need to go take it down myself in bathroom within my 15mins grace period before they could work on my hair. I agreed to do that so I could get my hair washed. I asked if I could borrow a comb, she blatantly said no! What a service! I went to the bathroom and took my hair down and was out in 12mins. By the time I came out, she rudely told me they have already canceled my appointment and will not be working on my hair!!! I left there without getting my hair done!!! I have never experinced this low level of customer service before. They are very rude and not accomodating at all. I will never go back to this place, my friends will be taking back their businesses and I will not be recommending this place to anyone ever. I was so excited to try this service and scheduled an appointment through their automated system. Little did I know, their convoluted robot phone system made it impossible to make changes. So when I tried to change my appointment time two days in advance, I clicked cancel, then reschedule and I was put on a waitlist. I couldn't find a number for a human being, so I was really surprised to receive a call at the time of service asking where we were. I politely explained we had requested a reschedule, and the woman (apparently the manager) was quite possibly worse than the robot. Apparently they charge you $35 if your waitlist appointment is never confirmed?! I explained the phone system never explained that and we were new. She said "it's in the terms." Where is that I asked? On the website. How would I know that. You just have to look, she said. And the "system" says you canceled within 1 biz day (not true, but I have no way to show her the six text threads the "system" sent me. How about a little human interaction and humanity, Pressed Roots?! how about caring about new customers and welcoming them in, maybe teaching them about your "system" if you are determined to never talk to your clients. But regardless, I'll never be returning there again. Rude, impersonal, thoughtless and more determined to make a buck off of people for doing nothing. I would like to tell their system, "no thank you ever again" and hope this review helps other unsuspecting new clients. read more

BE WARNED!!!!!!....before joining their VIP program - they will let you carry the credits over from month-to-month, but if you cancel you have to use all of them within 30-days. It doesn't matter how many you carry over, it could be 2, it could be 20, they expect you to use them within 30-days after you cancel their VIP membership. That is unrealistic consider the damage you could do to your hair. You are allowed to transfer some credits to immediate family. I cancelled the VIP membership due to inconsistency in the levels of service (this is nothing against my stylist, but the service of the front desk representatives). I was using my last credit, and ran into an UNFORSEEN EMERGENCY, like all other emergencies are. I explained the situation and was told the manager would have to decide what can be done since it was my last day to use the credit, and they only have a 15-minute grace period. The manager opted to take the low-road and said unfortunately they have no leeway in their policies, and would have to take my credit since I didn't "show up". Mind you I gave one of my last credits to my sister, she was 20-minutes late although they said their policy is for a 15-minute grace period, they allowed it. The inconsistency is a problem for me, the lack of empathy and consideration is also a problem. Every policy for every business should have exceptions for emergencies. This business provides a service just like all other businesses, and the thing that could set them apart is their level of customer service, but obviously that is lacking. Just keep in mind you can give your money to any number of businesses, if the playing field is leveled and they all provide the same service, go to the one that has the best customer service! read more
