We got there around 5:45 AM while it was still dark because we really wanted to catch the sunrise. And let me tell you... it was absolutely worth getting up that early! Now, my wife wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea of 3.5 miles -- mainly because I may have conveniently left that little detail out beforehand. ‍ She survived though! The trail was well paved, clean, and felt very safe. There's also plenty of parking, and the parking lot was well lit. The actual trail wasn't lit, but honestly, it was so clean and easy to follow that we didn't really need it. I kept my phone handy and used the flashlight from time to time whenever my wife thought she heard something. As the sun started coming up, the whole experience got even better. Definitely a trail I'd like to come back to during the daytime because there's plenty to see and experience. And the timing was perfect. As we were leaving, a baseball team was starting to gear up for the day, which was a pretty cool way to wrap things up. Overall, 5 stars all day! I was a club skater for over 15 years and spent a huge part of my childhood here. It used to feel like home -- fun, safe, and full of energy. But now? It feels like nobody working there actually cares. The only person who seemed happy to be there was Genevieve (who also happens to be a club skater). Everyone else was either rude, disinterested, or just plain unfriendly. What really got to me, though, was the total lack of standards. There's a dress code posted right outside, yet when I asked about it, the manager (Ellie) told me it was "old" and that people can just wear whatever they want. I'm sorry, but when you have kids skating around, there needs to be some level of respect and boundaries. Adult skate nights? Sure -- go for it. But mixed-age sessions? No. It's not appropriate for someone to be skating around in a bra while little kids are there. And instead of handling it reasonably -- like just asking the person to put on a shirt -- management told her to leave. Which just shows how out of touch they are with how to handle things professionally or with any common sense. It honestly breaks my heart to see how far this place has fallen. The owners (who I heard are selling) should be ashamed of how it's being run. This rink used to mean something to our community. It was a place where kids learned discipline, families made memories, and people felt safe. They probably don't care, but I hope they get to read this and go into their establishment and see for themselves.

We've been a couple of times, most recently on their $3 Thursday evening. We love that you can bring you own skates. They have skates in all sizes for kids and adults. There are lots of spaces to sit and put on the skates. They also have tables near the entrance and then along the rink itself. They offer skate helpers but you have to rent them out. They also have lockers for belongings. It can get pretty crowded, and lines for the food can get long. They also have vending machines and arcade games. Skating itself is fun, but be mindful of your surroundings. It's common for some expert to wiz by you and catch you off guard. But it is cool to see the better skaters do their stuff. They also have some games and decent music playing. It's overwhelming at times but still a great way to be active with the family.

I've driven by The Ride many times on my way to and from home but never managed to find time to…read morestop in. Well, today I did and boy am I happy I did! I met Sean who is one of the owners, and he was so nice answering all of my questions about their services and bike tune ups. He was patient and incredibly helpful, I was blown away. Having just relocated from SF which has a multitude of bike shops all over city, it was refreshing to walk into a place and not be treated like I was simply some number in line. Allow me to explain the differences. Attitude: SF= snooty, sometimes downright rude and pretentious hipsters who you know make fun of your yuppie PUBLIC bike when you drop it off for a tune up. I know it's not "cool" and heralds a hip lifestyle of riding the streets but I like it and you should respect that. The Ride= Sean was pleasant and smiled and said bring it in, we can tune it up no problem. Costs: SF= they will charge you an arm and a leg ($100+) and not tell you what the work entails. My tire was flat in a week and wanted to charge me another $100 to repair it !?!? OR they try to give you the wrong bike back that isn't yours. Seriously, it happened to me. The Ride= I haven't dropped my bike off yet but I was quoted $55 and whatever parts or extras would be run by me for approval before being charged. I'd tune my bike up more often and keep it riding better at that price! The Ride is a small locally owned business. And it's important to support such great people who only want to help their neighbors and provide excellent customer service. If they don't have it, they can order it for you or provide suggestions. I saw a GORGEOUS bike from a brand called Simcoe which looks amazing. And these guys are the only ones in the area to carry it. Sacramento seems to have a bike friendly culture, but it's attitude about biking is less pretentious and people bike because they seem to enjoy it not because it's some political statement. So go take your bike that you love and have the owners at The Ride take care of you and your happy healthy ride!

They've changed the functionality of the space! The outdoor amphitheater has so much more to it. From seating in the stage area,to tables for picnicking outside the performance zone, to little plaza-like meeting and gathering areas around the park. Yes, there's less actual grass on the ground, but so much more usable community plaza area that it works for this very popular park.
