So nice to see a roller skating rink still operating as it's such a fun, nostalgic activity. Love…read morethe safety aids for the kids-they were really helpful in letting the beginning skaters have fun too. I attended a birthday party here and it was a fun time.

Mobile Assist Aids for Skating - DANGEROUS!…read more My review is solely based on Roller King offering their guests Mobile Assist Aids for Skating: I was hoping to introduce my 4 year old & 7 year old daughters to their first time roller skating. At first, they were beyond excited. It was a new experience for them and they couldn't wait to try it. We opted to rent the mobile assist aids for skating. They were priced to rent for $6 each. These skating aids were made out of PVC pipes and their design was supposed to provide stability to assist skaters from not falling so they can feel confident enough to skate. However, these skating aids did the exact opposite. I made the mistake of trusting what seems like a homemade contraption made out of PVC pipes that you would get from Home Depot and amateurishly put together on wheels. The contraption made my kids fall instead of making them feel safe. The poor design didn't have enough weight on the front so if you handle them from the side with your hands too far apart, it would push the aids too far and cause you to fall backwards. If you put your hands too close together, it wouldn't give you enough room to skate and even cause you to fall forward. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen! My daughters fell so many times using these skating aids. The look on their faces showed that they were stressed out and defeated. I let them sit down and rest while I examined the skating aids to see what is causing them to fall. I watched as many other children using these skating aids were falling right in front of me. My kids were upset and wanted to go home. We left after a few minutes of getting there because the experience was no longer fun. While I think my kids should try skating again someday, I won't be renting these skating aids anymore. I wish I would've knew about it sooner. So I'm posting this so other parents with small children can be aware of how unsafe these aids are. And while Roller King may not have design these aids, they offer them to their customers and they are just as liable as the makers of these poorly designed skating aids. I don't recommend using them!

I've rented skates there every time I've gone, and it's been a positive experience. The customer service here is average and is on-par with just about every other recreational facility in the area. Yes, customer service has declined, but it's gone down everywhere else too since the pandemic. Manage your expectations. The food isn't great. It wasn't great in the early 90's and it's not great today. The food isn't any better at any of the other Nor Cal rinks either. Manage your expectations. Yes, the place is outdated but it's not falling apart. I have no idea how they've managed to keep things going with the low prices, but it's $12 because it's outdated. A bathroom renovation in my home just cost me $20k. That's a lot of $12 admissions and I'm sure it'd cost more for a commercial bathroom. Manage your expectations. I read some of the 1-star reviews and it looks like a bunch of the typical champagne taste on a beer budget crowd, or what you'd expect from people with limited grammar or spelling. Manage your expectations. For $12, enjoy it while it lasts, because after it's sold, I'm sure it'll be a lot more expensive, assuming it remains a roller rink. All the people with 1-star reviews will be complaining when it's gone.

I'm honestly so disappointed with our experience at Sunrise Rollerland -- and this isn't even the…read morefirst bad one, just the one that finally pushed me to say something. I grew up in this rink. I was a club skater for over 15 years and spent a huge part of my childhood here. It used to feel like home -- fun, safe, and full of energy. But now? It feels like nobody working there actually cares. The only person who seemed happy to be there was Genevieve (who also happens to be a club skater). Everyone else was either rude, disinterested, or just plain unfriendly. What really got to me, though, was the total lack of standards. There's a dress code posted right outside, yet when I asked about it, the manager (Ellie) told me it was "old" and that people can just wear whatever they want. I'm sorry, but when you have kids skating around, there needs to be some level of respect and boundaries. Adult skate nights? Sure -- go for it. But mixed-age sessions? No. It's not appropriate for someone to be skating around in a bra while little kids are there. And instead of handling it reasonably -- like just asking the person to put on a shirt -- management told her to leave. Which just shows how out of touch they are with how to handle things professionally or with any common sense. It honestly breaks my heart to see how far this place has fallen. The owners (who I heard are selling) should be ashamed of how it's being run. This rink used to mean something to our community. It was a place where kids learned discipline, families made memories, and people felt safe. They probably don't care, but I hope they get to read this and go into their establishment and see for themselves.

Thankfully, one Saturday afternoon my son expressed interest in wanting to go skating. We have a skating rink in close proximity to our home; however, it is fairly small and closes it's doors at 5pm on Saturdays. Therefore, we decided to make the slightly longer drive to The Rink. Once the three of us arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who processed the admission and skate rental fees. After my wife and son obtained their skates (I brought my personal pair), we proceeded to locate the lockers for our shoes. We found the automated lockers that costs $5...yes it is expensive for lockers, but I was more concerned that our fairly pricey shoes did not get stolen. Once our shoes were secured, we made our way to the rink floor. I absolutely love the size of this rink, it allows for individuals of various levels of expertise to co-exist in one place. In the past, I have been to some rinks that are so small that you're afraid that you would topple over little people learning how to skate (not saying that it couldn't happen here - it just seems less likely). While skating, I observed something that I have yet to see at a skating rink...parents walking (no skates) on the rink guiding their little ones. I'm not complaining about this, just mentioning it for anyone reading this and wondering how they can ensure that their little ones are safe while skating. This made for a perfect family activity/outing and I burned 522 calories during our 1.5 hours at The Rink...now that's a win-win!

From start to finish, the staff was incredible: welcoming, organized, kind, and genuinely supportive of our group. Hosting a large, mixed-age group can be challenging, and they handled everything with ease and warmth. The atmosphere was truly magical. The fire pits, s'mores, and the beautifully lit tree created such a cozy, festive environment -- it felt like a Hallmark movie night in the best way. Many of our veterans shared how special it was to simply be present, relaxed, and making memories with their families. Several attendees mentioned that this was their favorite event of the season, and that says everything. The rink provided not just a fun activity, but a space that felt safe, joyful, and community-centered. We're incredibly grateful to the Folsom Ice Rink team for helping make this night so meaningful. We would love to come back and highly recommend this rink for group events, family outings, or anyone looking for a truly special winter experience. Thank you for an unforgettable evening! Venue: the ice rink is a circle around a giant Christmas tree that used to be a railroad turntable. At night, you can see all the sparkly Christmas decor and lights. There's some photo opportunities for young children next to the rink. Not that they have a policy against using phones on the ice rink. Ticket purchasing: this is a cashless ice rink, so they only accept payment online on their website. Skate rentals: After showing them your ticket, you can go pick up your skates at the back of the venue. I believe they mentioned that all skates were men's sizes, so for women you might need a shoe that is one size lower than your normal shoe size. I got a size 7, even though my shoe size is 8.5. My friends noted that there is inconsistency in the level of cushion/comfort in some skates. Crowd/Ice: This ice rink was pretty crowded even at 8 PM on a Sunday on a non-peak holiday time. It didn't seem like they refreshed the ice before our session. Overall, this ice rink was pretty fun and we loved the holiday decor. I don't know that crowd levels are low at any time, but I'd consider prioritizing adult only skating sessions :)
