Well-located for stays on the Polanco side of the city, but the regular rooms are undistinguished for this price range, and the ones located next to the elevator shafts are unacceptably VERY noisy. The staff were all very nice, but the place needs re-work to fit the luxury branding. Noise: At first I thought there was a low-flying aircraft on approach to MEX, but after counting several "aircraft" spaced far too close together, I figured out the continuous noise in my room was the hotel elevators constantly coming and going. I should have paid attention to the reviews that mentioned noise, but I thought they were being sensitive... Earplugs help, if you brought some, but the sound is deep-pitched so you can "feel" it anyway. The noise never stopped for long (it's a big hotel, and maybe the elevators bottom out when not in use), during my 2-night stay. You could hear it during the day but it was especially noticeable at night. I was hoping for some restful sleep between busy days, but it was not happening. There's a *LOT* of rooms adjacent the elevator shafts in a 42-story hotel. All of these will be similarly unsleepable. These rooms should be designated as housekeeping storage, or sound-baffled and the beds reversed away from the elevators, or sold only as day-use. Surely these ideas have occurred to management. Putting multi-night visitors in these rooms is an insult to guests at this level of hospitality. Location: Polanco is the most upscale part of CDMX, and it's easy walking access to the museums, upscale restaurants, and points north from here. But note many of the historical sites and instagram-famous restaurants are to the east and south of Chapultepec. First-time visitors should stay in Reforma instead. Rooms: Surprisingly plain, with an open-plan bathroom (sink/counter are in the "bedroom"). It's a great space-saver, but not what you expect at this pricing. It should be made stylish or eclectic, and the bathroom area should be closed off. There *is* a very nice lobby and a 24-hour French restaurant, plus lobby restaurant-bar, so save this one for a day visit, not a stay. There's tons of other great hotel options in CDMX, and for most visitors locations towards Reforma are better located. read more

I was hoping for so much more from this property after reviewing the materials online; however, overall, I was very disappointed and would never stay here again. It felt like an airport hotel from a more luxurious class/brand (which doesn't mean much). For ease of reading, I've broken my review down into two categories: THE GOOD: *The location is prime as Polanco is just a beautiful, well-maintained, and secure area of Mexico City featuring dynamic and fun restaurants, cafes, and shops within steps of the lobby. *The view on the higher floors (I'd say over floor 15) is gorgeous, as CDMX is fairly flat in the center. You also get a great view of the air quality (which is usually quite poor) THE NEEDS ATTENTION/NOT SO GOOD: *The hotel seems quite old - it really begs for a full refurbishment, and you can see this throughout the property on most levels. *There is ZERO follow-through on any service needs. I had a running toilet (24x7) and called down, and I was told it would be taken care of - not only was it not, but they never communicated back with any update. I had other maintenance needs that were not followed up on, even though the special check-in desk for members assured me they would be handled. Again, zero follow-up or communication, and every time I discussed it, it was as if it were new. None were ever fixed, which is not acceptable. *The HVAC unit is locked for your usage. You can adjust the temperature, but that's it - no control of the fan or anything else, which is an absolute first time I experienced at a hotel. They seemed clueless. *The guest rooms are quite small and appointed with older furnishings. *Noise is a major issue here. The guest room walls are super thin - no joke, I heard 100% of everything from both sides of my room as if the people were in MY room. I'm a deep sleeper, but I continually got woken up by noise from adjacent rooms and from the street level, even though I was in the high 30's. *The bathroom is tiny and unfortunately has mold in key areas, which makes me wonder how clean and well-maintained things are kept. *The Do Not Disturb sign apparently means nothing - even on my check out day, I received knocks as early as 8A asking when I would be checking out (I guess), even though the check out is at 12noon and everyone should know this on staff. Then, an hour later, I get another knock with someone trying to open the door to service the HVAC unit. Totally bizarre. *The breakfast - it's a buffet in a very small dining room, therefore guests are literally sitting within 2' of the food, which had no coverings. I witnessed guests coughing and sneezing near or over the food, which is why I didn't return after the second morning. The options are very sparse and low quality, and the food itself was not flavorful at all. Above all, when I asked for a latte (a standard at any hotel breakfast), I was told there would be an additional charge. I ordered it the first morning and wound up tossing it out and walking x to Starbucks. *The concierge level lounge on 39 was fairly small, and again, with people sitting right next to uncovered food. No thanks. *The room's Wi-Fi was a joke - you couldn't remain connected if in bed. This was tried with multiple devices, by the way, with the same results. *The staff didn't really seem to care about my experience - and I'm a top-tier IHG member. They were not very welcoming at the start - not even a 'welcome' was mentioned. They sent me a text survey to rate how my stay was going, to which I responded with a 3 (out of 5), and nobody followed up to even care why not a 5 (which is what they should strive for), and lastly, when I checked out, there was not even a question about how I enjoyed my stay. Epic fail for a hotel team, and it's pretty clear they need to train their staff - especially front desk! I think they need to give this property some legit attention, as it really needs it. read more

So this was a childhood dream unlocked - I was excited to get back to Mexico City, and the Intercontinental Presidente was a great host. We celebrated, and they were conscientious hosts from beginning to end. Had a lovely view of the Auditorio Nacional. Would absolutely stay here again. The water pressure was good, communication ahead of time great, and the bed comfortable. Coffee grab and gos across the street, as well as a 7-11. Every time you would pray it would go down. We had to have it plunged once . And the maid would forget the free bottles of water every single day!!! I have stayed at this hotel twice, on both my trips to Mexico City. My first trip was spur of the moment with my partner at the time. She and I flew from Tijuana and into CDMX. Going on the recommendation from a friend of mine who lives in this town, I decided to stay at the Presidente Intercontinental. Our journey landed us in CDMX very early morning, and we were checking in at 3AM. We were able to get a room with a good view, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a French restaurant in the lobby area that is 24-hours. The room itself was very comfortable. It had a comfy bed, a couch, a large window overlooking Bosque de Chapultepec, and nice amenities. The room service was very efficient, and the food available was phenomenal. I was impressed by this hotel my first time around, which led me to book a suite here on my second trip to CDMX. On this second trip, I was here to meet a friend who invited me for her birthday. I booked a standard room through the booking.com app, but opted to upgrade to a suite once we got here. The suite was very nice. The bedroom had a king size bed, which was comfortable. The living room was spacious, with comfy seating, and an espresso machine. The main bathroom had a shower, a bathtub, and plenty of floor space. Much like my first trip, I found the room service to be very efficient, and it provided great dining options. This hotel is run very well. It is a highlight in the posh neighborhood of Polanco. If you find yourself travelling to CDMX, I highly recommend staying here! read more

We were very impressed with this amazing space - the lobby has the most beautiful floral arrangements and the lobby bar had the best live band, complete with saxophone and electric guitar! Such a wonderful vibe - the drinks were strong too - we had equal parts of Don Julio, TopoChico with a spash of Lime juice. There is something so very great about these workers too - so many people were accommodating to us during our time in the lobby! ALSO, the art this lobby has in incredible - every couple of feet there was another geode like structure with never ending mirrors inside them! I had seen this sculptors work in Palm Spring but only one! Here in the lobby of Presidente Intercontinental they have an entire GARDEN of these things - some hung on walls and some freestanding strewn around the lobby itself. I had a wonderful stay here in November with my MBA class. While expensive, the hotel definitely delivered on quality and the view from the bedroom was beautiful. The room itself felt high quality with comfortable bedding and enough space for me and the one other person I was rooming with. The shower was luxurious and so were the bath products. Service at the hotel, especially how they handled covid (thermal sensors, mask checks) made me feel very safe and showed great attention to detail. We also had breakfast every morning which was excellent, although it took a while to get used to having beans for breakfast! Overall the hotel is high quality in a safe and beautiful area of Mexico City. It was a great place to call home base for my first time en la Ciudad. read more

I was originally very excited to book a stay at the Intercontinental in Mexico City. By the end of the trip, I felt they were severely lacking in several areas. First, the concierge wasn't incredibly helpful. When asked if there were any restaurants nearby that were open, the concierge replied 'no' and directed us to their own restaurant within the hotel. When we walked outside to check for ourselves, there were at least two restaurants open. We ended up dining there and had a wonderful experience outside the hotel, which is what you try to do on a trip - go outside the hotel and experience the city. Second (and more worrying) was that they said we drank a bottle of wine from the minibar. We had not. Unfortunately, there was no way to dispute since it was our word against theirs. The ultimate amount was de minimis, but it was still a weird experience being called a liar by the hotel clerk. Or, as the check out attendant said "Are you sure that maybe you didn't drink it and forget?". No, sir. I did not forget opening the minibar and drinking a bottle of wine. Third, the room we had booked was supposed to have a single king bed. Instead, we were given a room with two queen-ish size beds. In their defense, I should have notified them when we got to the room, but it was past 12:00am in the morning and after a long flight, I wasn't really in any sort of position to trek down and lug luggage any extra distance. Overall, disappointed with the Intercontinental and would not recommend. The surrounding area (Polanco) is fantastic and there are more than a few great options that come to mind (The W, for example). read more

I went there in January 2024. Hotel has a great location and restaurants. I was there for a concert at the auditorio national. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because how they can decide their own peso exchange rates. From what was booked on booking.com and what I was charged on exit was $100 more. How does that seem fair or legal. I tried to dispute it through my credit card company but it's pretty much at the hotels rules. Rule of thumb is pay in advance in dollars in the US. Located in the hotel zone off chapultepec park and nestled behind many beautiful buildings and homes and amazing upscale restaurants and shops of Polanco. We stayed here in January and were delighted to have stayed in a fabulous room with an amazing view of Polanco! This is my first time here in Mexico City. I felt safe, was able to walk to the neighboring streets without issue with my husband to eat at various restaurants. We also took Uber and there were no issues. We tried their restaurant Chapulín for breakfast and dinner. Dinner was a lot better than breakfast. Everything is within walking distance. We were able to get on the City Turibus which was less than a mile away from the hotel. Room and bathroom was kept clean daily! Free internet worked well! The concierge was helpful read more

I loved everything about my stay at the InterContinental Presidente Mexico City. The beds were fantastic, the down comforter was awesome, nice, soft and fluffy, the pillows were plentiful and down filled (not the cheap synthetic pillows), full blackout shades (I could have slept all day). The AC in the room gets nice and cold, great water pressure in the shower. The rooms are very clean, well equipped, the WIFI is very strong, you only need to log in one time during your stay. The location of the hotel is in a very safe district of DF, lots of restaurants and shops within a short walking distance of the hotel. Definitely the best stay I have had in a longtime, I was sad to leave the hotel. read more

Great views from the rooms and the executive lounge puts on a nice evening spread. After staying at other inter continentals this one is lacking. The rooms are clean, nice but a little average for a higher end hotel. The gym has a lot of the workout machines and only a couple weightlifting ones. Apparently, the hotel is in the middle of renovating and they don't exactly make it quiet for their guests. Kiss your vacay goodbye and enjoy waking up at 9 AM to the sound of a drill right next to you. The hotel is seated in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Mexico, but it has sadly been neglected over the years. The hotel is steps to fantastic, while not wholly authentic Mexican, restaurants more catering to the posh international crowd and rich Mexicans looking for a taste of the abroad. For people like myself, there's a conveniently placed 7-11 across the street. The hotel rooms are a bit dated and noisy, allowing anyone who wants to listen into your conversation and vice versa (provided everyone understands each others' mother tongue). Even if your room is situated on a top floor, you'll still hear the soundtrack of the city through single pane glass, a shame if you're trying to get a good night's sleep while some dude races his new motorbike. Where the hotel succeeds is its wonderful staff and hotel cars that double as private tour vehicles/guides. They will literally take you wherever you want to go -- planned or unplanned -- for very reasonable hourly prices. The concierge makes some too notch dinner and daily excursion recommendations. Ive been to numerous areas in Mexico and was so excited when my cousin chose to have his wedding in Polanco, Mexico City. My entire family booked rooms at the Intercontinental Presidente and we talked about this trip for the months leading up. We were delighted at the hotel and its location upon arriving. We checked in and were told that our room was a double which being a married couple, asked if a king bed was available. They said there was and assigned us to a room. Upon chatting the front desk employee told us that we could upgrade our stay for $50 a day which would include: access to the 39th Floor Lounge, happy hour a the lobby bar from 7-9pm and breakfast included. We said that sounds like a great idea lets do it. We ate breakfast daily at the only place we knew that had breakfast; Cafe Urbano. Which was great and offered a variety of items. We closed out daily to the same total thinking this would be covered in our "$50 upgrade." We never made it to daily Happy Hour as we have dinner reservations we made thru our amex platinum concierge and we ventured up the 39th lounge one day only to see a mediocre food spread at best. We traveled outside the hotel daily only to come back to our room never cleaned or beds made (mind you this was 5pm or later). The noice from the street was loud and kept us up numerous nights as well. We did dine at Chapulin which our families loved. Our stay seemed to go not so bad until we decided to check out and were given charges for the breakfast which we stated we were told we could eat breakfast at the Cafe Urbano (which mind you was the only place we knew that served brunch buffet). The front desk employee told us we were only allowed to eat the 39th floor lounge to which we stated that was not told to us. We also stated that we did not drink at the happy hour any days of the stay. We said we are fine iwht paying for the daily breakfast at Cafe urbano if you could take off the Daily "$50 upgrade." The front desk employee seemed to understand and think that was fair however he had to double check with his manager on duty. Well when we spoke with Alejandra, her demeanor was first off less than pleasant. It seemed as if she had worked a few too many days in a row and just didn't want to hear what we had to say. Upon explaining the exact same scenario we had just explained to the front desk employee, she replied that the charge would stand and that she would check the cameras to see if we in fact drank at the bars (check the cameras as if we were shoplifters), as you can imagine that made us feel really great. We tried to explain over and over that it now wasn't even about the money but the principle that her staff did not have or give us anything in writing about where to eat, drink or what the lounge was used for. We wound up leaving only to speak with other family members who said they had a similar experience and were also upset considering we had an entire wedding party under Sheridan there. Just to think that's the last impression we had upon waiting for our Uber really makes you think about what hospitality really means and how well training is at the Intercontinental Presidente. Needless to say this was the first time at a Grupo Property and will be our last. Taking care of guests is why you chose a job in the hospitality field. For the record I currently own 3 restaurants and previously worked for Starwood Hotels for 10+ years. I get in it when guests want want want or try to take advantage of the hotel. The worst hotel i've experienced at this price point. From the staff, cleanliness, and the room, it's dissapointed on every level. I was debating to between 2 or 1 star review until I realized on more than one occassion I was the only one targeted to keep my mask on, even when seated in my own section, when everyone around me (Non Asian/mostly white or latino) were not wearing a mask and not asked. This happened 3 times in the span of 1 day. (Lounge/Bar areas, Gym). The room i found hair on the floor. House keeping didnt come when concierge said they would come and i had to call back again and they came while i was taking a shower. The gym is very basic and outdated. My particular room, i could hear the guy next door speaking alll times of the day(walls are thin). I never leave reviews because im lazy, but this place dissapointed so much I had to. For your money don't stay here unless you're the right skin color or an attractive female, perhaps you will get a better experience. read more
