Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed to say that the experience I had wasn't that great. First, when I met with the principal she let me know there was a "waiting list" then later speaking with the secretary she said there was no one on the wait list they just say that. During our visit my son was taken back to a room for an assessment where I wasn't present. I sat in the office area. During the assessment, the teacher asked my son questions like "do you get in trouble at school" and "do you talk a lot in class" and things around his behavior. When prior, during the tour, I was asking the principal questions around safety and what that looked like. I even shared certain challenges like talking in class. The following day, the principal called me to let me know that my son could do a "trial" with the school and see how he does in a month. This, I've never heard of and how is that even possible! It sounded like they were being selective and wanted to see how he would behave before fully accepting him into the school. Just by this, I decided this school wasn't the best fit for him. This school lacks diversity, acceptance of all people and judge. The 2 stars are for adding a park that the school didn't have, kudos for the secretaries kindness and her transparency that the principal hid. My son is thriving at his current school and an A/B student.

Our kids actually get sad when they have to miss school for whatever reason. They love their teachers, and the teachers clearly care about their students. They could be teaching for teachers' unions in public schools, earning more money, but they choose our school because they care intensely about our kids and our families holistically: Intellectually, emotionally, physically, spiritually. I've trusted all my many kids with many normal kid-play injuries over MANY years to the wonderful women in the office, both the office manager and office assistant. They call me right away, disclose all the details of the injury, tell me how they treated them (with a lot of medical experience, I assure you they do everything I would have EVERY time), offer to talk to my child and of course allow me to pick them up if I ever deem it necessary. The teachers and administration answer every email and Class Dojo message I've ever sent, no matter how small the topic, within a very short time. Whenever I've approached the principal with a question or concern, she welcomes it with humility and openness, and actually makes changes worth making (this is notably not the case with many school principals). She surrounds herself with committees to make sure she's not missing anything. Between our excellent principal, our wonderful office manager, and our warm office assistant, the ambience in the office is pleasant and welcoming. As a parent, I don't want to leave when I stop in! The school community has really wonderful families we've befriended over the years or worked with on school volunteer opportunities. But for us, the most important aspect is the faith aspect. Our kids get to learn about the Catholic Faith through a beautiful and formational religion program; and they get to see it reflected in the faculty and administration in various ways, through their unique gifts, virtues, and sacrifices. My own faith has been enriched just through getting to know them and seeing their own, personal love of God.

I was in an accident that limited my mobility, and so many parents held open doors, offered to carry things, and expressed words of motivation and support. Several even helped me push my son's stroller into the school, which nearly brought me to tears. The teachers, especially Miss Kayla and Miss Fatima have been so supportive and stepped in to help with our son while supporting him through the various transitions in this healing process. Miss Adriane has also been so kind checking in each morning with her thoughtful smile and encouraging words. We have been a part of this community since our son was 5 months old and we are grateful for all he has learned and grown. The team has worked with us through several parenting challenges and we are so thankful for their knowledge, care and concern.

Ah, the school I grew up at…read more.. Corona Creek is truly a good school reflecting back on my experience. While I was there, I remembered there were a lot of small things I didn't like such as the adults who watched over the kids during recess, indoor recess when it was raining, and the small track and limited amount of yard equipment, but there was a bunch of other stuff that more than balanced out the bad. The school is well funded by the community, and there is a pretty solid library, music, and computer service. As a distinguished California elementary school for a few years however, Corona Creek is clearly doing things right. The teachers are caring and have a low turn around rate, so its nice to be able to visit them years down the line. I was always an overachieving student while I was here, and it was nice that teachers offered extra work for those that sought it. So if this sounds like you, or your kid, Corona Creek is a nice option. The school isn't that old, meaning less than 10 years old, so everything still looks pretty nice compared to some of Petaluma's other elementary schools. One thing that they emphasized when I was here was that all the buildings are earthquake proof if that's something you're concerned about. If you can choose between here or Meadow school, I'd recommend driving the extra distance to Corona Creek.

Unfortunately, the emphasis on test scores is so intense, the care of children seems to come second. There is a "strict" bullying policy, meaning if a child hits, they are immediately sent home. What is lacking is character development. There is little instruction about how to be a kind friend. The kids are left basically unsupervised on the play yard. If someone were seriously injured an adult is there to help, but kids tease and exclude, and there is no adult around to help kids navigate problems. The teachers seem exhausted and have little support, despite intense parental involvement. The constant requests for donations to the WISE foundation and PTA is exhausting. I understand that budget cuts have made things difficult for the schools, but the kids come home with 20 photocopied notices each Wednesday, instead of an online newsletter (how about saving some money there?). The parent culture can be quite exclusive. Lots of gossip among the PTA moms. On the positive, my child received a good education at Corona Creek.
