Parents all greet each other warmly each morning during drop off and will introduce themselves to newcomers. Becoming involved in school programs and committees has been easy. The PTA officers are completely approachable and excited to have new parents get involved. The Kindergarten teachers have a deep understanding of early childhood development and the importance of creative, imaginative play and artistic expression as part of the daily curriculum. The kindergarteners are thriving academically and exceeding state standards in this low-pressure, nurturing environment. We feel that this school is a hidden little gem that needs to be discovered!

He has struggled in a few areas and they have worked with him to improve his skills and grades. The only issue I see is student to teacher ratio - initially this started out 22 to 1 and now it is 30 to 1, which is too much for elementary students. Also, OA has a very low student population (~250) which ensures the students are lost in the shuffle of a big school.

They…read moreare like a private school where they have small classes and amazing teachers, as well as the principal and Mrs. Sonia in the office, they are the cherry on top. I've asked the new parents what made them join us at YES and they reported that "in addition to all the amazing benefits of the school [they] joined because of the principal and the staff. They really are one-of-a-kind. They work with each child one-on-one, which really helped my son who can be a handful at times. My daughter came in reading at grade level and by the time she finished she was reading at college level and reading Charles dickens!!!! She even enjoyed reading, I don't know what the school did but they goodness for them. The school utilizes project-based learning just like new tech hiand they provide one on one coaching to the kids so that each kid reaches their highest potential. What I love most about the school is the parent involvement. We've got to several schools and been a part of many PTAs our last school had almost 500 kids in it and the state threatened to shut down the PTA because we only had three volunteers. The school has like 50% involvement rate! End it isn't a requirement to help out it's just happens to be such a cool environment that people naturally chip in and help out. This is also the only school that I have ever been to where the principal helps out as much as she does. She and Sonia, the office admin are the heart of the school. They know everything that's going on and they are happy to help. The other schools we have been to the secretaries are too busy that don't involve themselves in the schools activities. It really makes a difference that anytime I have a question I can go to the office and they help me find the answer. They are also at every school event, supporting everything that we do. The school is like a family! Even the PTA has called family club. You should check it out! Even if you live in Napa you're able to go to this awesome school with open enrollment.

Our daughter has been attending Sonoma Preschool Academy for about a year and a half, starting when…read moreshe was just two years old, and we truly could not be happier with our experience. As a parent looking for a great Sonoma preschool, finding a place that felt nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate was really important to us. Sonoma Preschool Academy has exceeded our expectations. Over the past year and a half, we've seen so much growth in our daughter's language, confidence, independence, and social skills. We especially love that the school follows a play-based learning approach. The kids are constantly exploring, creating, and learning through hands-on activities instead of feeling like they're in a structured classroom too early. There is always art and creative play happening, and our daughter is so proud to bring home her projects and tell us about everything she did that day. Another thing we really appreciate is the communication with parents. Each week they send a full report with photos showing what the kids worked on, the activities they did, and highlights from the week. It's so fun to see what they've been up to and feel connected to her experience at school. The teachers are absolutely wonderful. They are warm, patient, and genuinely care about the kids. You can tell they truly love what they do. Honestly, I'm pretty sure our daughter loves her teachers more than she loves us some days, which really says everything about how safe, happy, and loved she feels there. Also worth mentioning for parents looking in the area: although the preschool is located on a church campus, it is not affiliated with the church, which we appreciated. Sending your child to preschool is a big step, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found such a special Sonoma preschool community. I would absolutely recommend Sonoma Preschool Academy to any parent looking for a nurturing, play-based preschool with amazing teachers.

It is a hidden gem, sharing a building with Trinity church, but unaffiliated. Once we toured and met the teachers, we knew we had found the place for us. All the teachers are moms and experienced educators, that, and their awesome play based curriculum, (integrating lots of S.T.E.A.M learning) was what made us choose to send our first and then second child. Something I think is unique about SPA is they have yearbooks, conferences, art binder of the years art projects, and weekly emails full of the weeks pictures and all the activities done that week. It is a connection based school with events and gatherings that create a family feel, we really can't recommend it enough!

Ah, the school I grew up at…read more.. Corona Creek is truly a good school reflecting back on my experience. While I was there, I remembered there were a lot of small things I didn't like such as the adults who watched over the kids during recess, indoor recess when it was raining, and the small track and limited amount of yard equipment, but there was a bunch of other stuff that more than balanced out the bad. The school is well funded by the community, and there is a pretty solid library, music, and computer service. As a distinguished California elementary school for a few years however, Corona Creek is clearly doing things right. The teachers are caring and have a low turn around rate, so its nice to be able to visit them years down the line. I was always an overachieving student while I was here, and it was nice that teachers offered extra work for those that sought it. So if this sounds like you, or your kid, Corona Creek is a nice option. The school isn't that old, meaning less than 10 years old, so everything still looks pretty nice compared to some of Petaluma's other elementary schools. One thing that they emphasized when I was here was that all the buildings are earthquake proof if that's something you're concerned about. If you can choose between here or Meadow school, I'd recommend driving the extra distance to Corona Creek.

Unfortunately, the emphasis on test scores is so intense, the care of children seems to come second. There is a "strict" bullying policy, meaning if a child hits, they are immediately sent home. What is lacking is character development. There is little instruction about how to be a kind friend. The kids are left basically unsupervised on the play yard. If someone were seriously injured an adult is there to help, but kids tease and exclude, and there is no adult around to help kids navigate problems. The teachers seem exhausted and have little support, despite intense parental involvement. The constant requests for donations to the WISE foundation and PTA is exhausting. I understand that budget cuts have made things difficult for the schools, but the kids come home with 20 photocopied notices each Wednesday, instead of an online newsletter (how about saving some money there?). The parent culture can be quite exclusive. Lots of gossip among the PTA moms. On the positive, my child received a good education at Corona Creek.

When I first started at her Marin Spanish School I knew very little Spanish, practically, nothing. Homeschooling allowed Emilie and I the flexibility to create our own curriculum with fun activities and unique projects! Her dedication and passion about the language is what made the whole experience so wonderful. In nine months she was able to teach me so much and so well, I got qualified to go in to Spanish 3 in the private school I got accepted to! She is so thorough, and organized, and she truly cares about her students' progress. Her passion and enthusiasm for the Spanish culture got me so eager to learn. Learning about the "Day of the Dead" and Spanish culture every lesson was so much fun! I was looking forward to her classes every week. She is such an inspiration to me. Best teacher!

(They didn't get to retain all the staff, mostly due to the free TK as many preschools and daycares likely felt the hit.) But let me tell you about Martha (the director) and Maria, one of the teachers. They are both absolutely fantastic. My son adores them both. When he started there at a little over 2 years old, he was still in diapers and had a speech delay. They allowed his speech therapist to come in and see him once a week and even helped them find a less distracting location when my son wasn't focusing as well. Once we started potty training, his teacher, Maria, stepped up and not only helped train him at school, but helped train us parents, too! Her advice during that time (my guy was a stubborn one) was incredibly helpful and welcome. We are leaving so that our guy can attend a preschool down the street from our house and that is open during winter break as it was very hard last year, financially, when I couldn't find a place to take him while they were closed due to his severe food allergies. Which reminds me, they handled that amazingly! They made sure he didn't eat others' food and if they were going to give a treat to all the kids, they either provided our son his approved treat we left at the school or sent us a photo of the ingredients to be sure he could have it. Highly recommend this school and I'm so sad to leave. The monthly rate was excellent and competitive and they left huge impressions on our son (and on us) in such a good way. His speech, potty training, counting, letters, etc. all improved dramatically here. More people need to hear about them. They're fantastic! And they're so easy to talk to! Highly recommend. We'll miss you guys!

Sofia thrives at Mt Taylor and I have been so proud of her maturity and growth while under their expert and compassionate care. Not only that, but they charge an incredibly reasonable monthly rate with flexible pickup and drop off times to accommodate any schedule without requiring a complicated fee schedule or extra work for the parent. Thank you thank you again Martha, Maria and Natalee for your kindness!!

It's worth every minute. I genuinely cherish those 20 minutes in the car, on the way there or on the way home, listening to my kids get excited about their day. My 2 year old will tell me all about how creeks evaporate and how the rain coming down is really just that same creek water returning from the clouds, or about the flower arrangement she made today with her friends and teachers. My five year old talks about practicing her B sounds in class, or tells me stories about what she read with her classmates, or the painting she did, or the field trip hike she's taking with her class to learn more about the lifecycles of plants and animals. Those little windows into their day are everything to me. We honestly didn't plan on switching schools. We were happily settled at another school and figured we'd stay at least another year. Then we toured Spring Hill, and that plan fell apart pretty quickly. The Montessori toddler and primary classrooms completely won us over, and once we saw how the older kids on the TK-8 campus learn through hands-on projects instead of worksheets, we were sold. We enrolled both of our kids and haven't looked back since. The difference has been huge. My two littles have thrived, academically, socially, all around. They come home talking about what they built or figured out that day, not just what they memorized. That kind of engagement is hard to fake, and it's made learning feel exciting instead of like a chore. The teachers are honestly the best part of this school. They're deeply engaged with each child, taking the time to understand how every one of my kids learns best and meeting them exactly where they are. Schools we toured had classrooms of 26 kids to one teacher, with kids parked in front of tablets for large chunks of the day. Spring Hill takes a much more deliberate approach to technology, so kids can stay present and engaged. Teachers actually have the bandwidth to work 1:1 with students. Seeing that other environment, the contrast was immediate and honestly a relief. I do want to be upfront that the school has been through a lot of changes lately. What's kept me feeling good about it is that the board is made up mostly of parents, and they've made it clear they're relying on feedback from families like us to help guide where the school goes next. It doesn't feel like decisions are happening behind closed doors. It feels like something we're building together. If you're considering it, go see it in person. Walk through the classrooms, see the kids in the middle of a project, get a feel for the community. That's what convinced us to change course, and it's been one of the best decisions we've made for our kids.

We also appreciate that the strong academics don't come at the expense of social-emotional development. There are lots of community events, and the parent community is warm, welcoming, and tight-knit. We've been incredibly happy with our experience and, most importantly, our kids love going to school.
