Long Island Gutters

I researched and got estimates from about a half-dozen gutter companies and decided on LI Gutters…read moreas their price was reasonable, their service personable and friendly AND they returned calls promptly, which always surprises me with service companies. They came when they said they would, called first, did a really fast and excellent job on our repairs and installation. I had also called them way back at the start of 2014 when we first saw that we needed work but didn't actually get around to hiring someone until now, November. They honored their January estimate. My only problem (and I admit it was my fault) was the end estimate was higher than they originally quoted because we needed fascia replaced. They did tell me that would be extra, and they told me the per foot price. I forgot about that "small detail" so when they gave me the bill I was surprised at the higher amount, but then they explained it to me and I remembered they did tell me that, so it was my bad. They did do extra work and/or gave me an aluminum cover for the replaced wood fascia and did not charge me the extra amount it would have been. LOVE IT!!!! Oh, and one other thing; they originally made a mistake on the color of the gutter and so had to return a second day with the proper color but of course did not charge me extra. This was a small and understandable mistake which they promptly made good on. The workers were fast, came when they said they would, worked quietly and very cleanly. No evidence anyone had been there (we had watched them work intermittently so of course we knew they were there!) because they cleaned everything up so well. Office staff, workers and Paul (the owner?) himself were very polite and nice. What a delightful change from most companies nowadays. Highly recommend them.

The guy came and said it was not the gutter, it looked like it might be the roof ( which is relatively new and in perfect condition) and said they would send someone who is a "roof" guy. The guy who came said the roof was fine, it was the gutters, but I then got an estimate online from the company with a price of $5500 to replace my roof! Meanwhile I called another gutter company I have used, and it turns out a builder who built a house next door to me a few years ago ran a pipe underground into my drain and all the water from that property is coming onto mind and flooding me out. I have become their dry well. I will never use Long Island Gutters again.

A PROBLEMATIC LEAKING FLAT ROOF 7/18/2023 Has finally been…read morecorrected thanks to CONLON EXTERIORS! The flat roof over our garage has been leaking for many years. We have had it repaired three times in the past by different roofers without any luck at all. Recently I got more estimates from roofers who specialize on flat roofs repairs, and I also called on Colon Exteriors,516-781-5194, they were the ones who put up our sloped roof many years ago, which is still in great shape today! Jim Conlon told me he has repaired many flat roofs with success and after looking at my flat roof said he would repair and STOP my leaks once and for all. The price I received from Jim Conlon was also more affordable to me than the other roofers quotes I had gotten. Last week Conlon Exteriors, took two days to do the job. They had to replace some rotted wood caused by the water leaks, had to remove then replace some aluminum siding without bending it (which is very difficult to do) pull off the old tar paper on the roof and replaced it with a more costly EPDM roofing system. All the work was done by experienced long time Conlon crew members who know their business. This weekend as you all know we had plenty of rain to test out this new roofing system. I am happy to say that no leaks were found in the garage at all! Thank you Jim Conlon and crew. If you need an experienced roofer who has a 5 STAR rating on Google, then CONLON EXTERIORS is the way to go! Here is a link to their website. The first heavy storm after our roof replacement happened sooner than I would have preferred, but…read moreit ended up being a good test. The new roof handled it without any water entering the building. Before replacement, the surface had blisters, cracked seams, and several areas that held water. We reviewed repair and replacement options, and the condition of the insulation made replacement the more sensible choice. The old layers were removed down to the wood deck. Most of the wood was sound, although several boards near the front parapet needed to be replaced. A self-adhered modified-bitumen system was installed over new insulation and a cover board. The chimney flashing, plumbing vents, and roof hatch were all completed individually. Additional taper was used near the rear drain to improve water flow. The Royal Renovators Inc. crew protected the front planting area and used the rear access for debris. We found a few scraps of membrane near the neighboring fence after completion, but they returned and picked them up the next morning. The final documents included photos, material information, and the written warranty. Months later, the roof is still draining well and the interior stains have not returned.

The roof on one my buildings had reached the point where the frequency of repairs were becoming…read more.. exponentially more frequent. So, it was time -- full roof replacement. Since the building is both commercial and residiential, one of the biggest concerns was minimizing disruption to tenants, and of course keeping everything on budget and organized. From the start, Royal Renovators seemed to understand these concerns and put together a plan that worked around the building's daily operations. The existing roof was removed, damaged areas were addressed/fized, and a new roofing system was installed along with snazzy updated flashing and drainage improvements. Communication throughout the project was - chefs kiss - and we always knew what stage things were in. As expected, there were additional conditions unconvered that needed to be addressed. But, these guys were transparent about it, laid out the options like they did before, and it didnt turn into pressure or surprises. What stood out was how transparent they were when additional conditions were uncovered. Every decision was discussed beforehand and documented with photos. In the end, the new roof was completed on time, and is performing exactly as expected.
