We have utilized Premiere Prep's extensive educational services for the past 7 years, and what a stress reliever this company has been for our family! Our oldest just graduated from a top tier UC school, our second child is in his final year at an excellent Cal State university, and our youngest is a senior in high school who has already been accepted into 4 out of the 11 colleges he has applied to (and still waiting for the other 7 results coming out in March 2017). Bea has been our youngest child's counselor for the past 3 years. She is an outstanding counselor not only because of her extensive knowledge of the educational field, but also because of her kind and caring personality. Bea genuinely wants all of her students to succeed not only in school, but in all aspects of life. I remember at the first session our son was very shy and quiet. He barely said a word during conversations. However, Bea was able to work with him and build his confidence to the point where he now is able to easily talk to others freely and directly. On certain weekends, Premiere Prep opens up their office and runs mock interviews with all of their students. The students need to dress up professionally and arrive early/on-time for their mock interview. This is a great tool because it helps students understand the different aspects of a real-world interview, whether it is for college admissions or for a future job. It is a wonderful way to receive positive feedback on how they can improve, as well as learn about the things they need to work on for the future. I started my senior year of high school frantic and scared out of my mind about the college application process. I began working with Justin and Ryan at their Newport location during my junior year but I honestly wished that I started sooner. Despite that, they helped me plan what classes and tests I needed to take as well as set goals for myself. If I hadn't sought consultation with Justin, I would've tried my luck with a 1950 on the old sat (which isn't a great score and translates to 1380 on the new one). Thankfully, Justin gave me the honest truth and challenged me to score higher on the ACT. They also guided me in seizing other opportunities such as taking actual college courses outside of school and attending educational programs. Colleges look to trace each student's activity throughout high school so it'd be beneficial to understand the importance of preparing for standardized tests, getting a good gpa, and searching for extracurricular activities. I then began working closely with Ryan on my college essays. Many of their counselors have experience reviewing college applications and have taken seminars at prestigious colleges explaining what those colleges search for. For example, Ryan had attended a Stanford seminar and helped me understand/direct the focus of my essay towards their short answer prompts. Writing a college essay definitely isn't easy. Creative writing is much different from analytical writing that students are used to in school so I, along with many of other high schoolers, struggle to tell our stories in a genuine and appealing manner. I met the CEO / Founder of Premiere Prep, Justin Lee, in 2015 through a mentorship program at UC Irvine. Since Justin graduated from UC Irvine, he graciously volunteers his time as a mentor. His mentorship has been so meaningful over the past three years.
