This should have been a huge red flag, however we proceeded, based on others reviews. The initial installation went well, however it took a week longer than expected. The big disappointment came with maintenance. Two months later and the majority of our plants have died, the irrigation lines, which were not buried properly, keep popping out if the ground, and our yard looks terrible. It is an embarrassment to the neighborhood, which I assume they recognize as they removed their sign from our yard when the plants began dying. We have made repeated phone calls, texts, and messages, however they still have yet to come by the property and make the needed corrections. Most of the time we get a noncommittal "I'll stop by", which never happens or they cancel appoints day of (after they were supposed to have arrived) at the last minute after I confirmed a few hours earlier. All in all this experience has been extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and certainly not worth the thousands of $$s spent.

Steve Hellman of Metic Designs truly made magic happen! Our townhome has been transformed by our…read morenew kitchen.......while the footprint remained the same, the extra design details by Steve created a more user friendly and seemingly larger space. By adjusting the location of both the stove and refrigerator, what was once a small, dark cooking area, is now a modern, open space with plenty of room to move and entertain. Beautifully laid backsplash tile, lazy Susan's and adjustable roll out pantry shelves add charm and functionality. Scheduling and communication were top-notch as we were kept up to speed on a regular basis via email and texts. Steve also selected incredible professionals to bring his design to life. We can not say enough about Denis, the contractor.....He was incredibly efficient, timely and clean - we were always impressed with the amount of work he accomplished in one day! Overall we are so grateful for everything done by Steve and his team to create our new favorite room of the house!

We used Steve and Metic Design to completely revamp the downstairs of our house. In addition to a…read morefull kitchen and family room remodel, Steve also updated a small powder bath and came up with an incredible outside-the-box design for an old 1980s ensuite bathroom and closet. I love to cook and have a lot of kitchen accessories I use on a regular basis. But, I also wanted a clean, clutter free kitchen. Steve's solution of a bank of tall pocket doors to house the appliances was not only practical but also gorgeous and is now a focal point of the kitchen. All of Steve's designs fall into this category - beautiful and practical and exactly what we wanted (even when we didn't know what we wanted). His attention to detail is phenomenal and really shows in the finished product. For example, he laid out a pattern for our quartzite slab that makes the seams virtually disappear. As a bonus, the pattern left enough material to fabricate the top of the vanity in the powder bath. Steve was also crucial during construction. When the contractor determined a new beam was needed and the floor-to-ceiling cabinets we wanted wouldn't be possible, Steve quickly came up with a solution to hide the beam preserve the look we were after. The peace of mind knowing that Steve was there to solve the problems that inevitably arise during construction was truly invaluable. This really only scratches the surface of all ways Steve helped during this project. We couldn't be happier with the way our "new house" came out and HIGHLY recommend Steve Hellman and Metic Design.

When' I requested them to come back to correct the issue they wanted to charge me. Ridiculous. Then they return to correct what they did wrong and left a hole in my door and refused to seal it. They argued with us and rudely left. So I professional.. will never recommend anyone to use their service. I asked the owner to take responsibility but said it's not their fault and ignored my request to fix the door. Horrible and unprofessional and didn't know what they were doing nor attempted to read directions. The light fixture install was also horrible and unstable. Do yourself a favor and don't contact them for work bc if something goes wrong they will not take responsibility and will blame you for the mistake.

It was a very bad experience to work with Roxy. When I interviewed her I was very clear as to what…read moremy budget was and she agreed to work with my max budget of $x00000 . It end up costing twice as much. Make sure she doesn't put the cheap rock on the plans, she tries to save a little there, and that is one of the very important element in your design and you don't want to go with cheap. And by the way she doesn't buy the rocks, the landscaper does. She said her design fee would be $3K to $5K depending on how much work she puts in to the design. I end up paying the higher number. It only took her one visit to the site to do the plans. I should have stuck to lower design fee in my contract with no loose ends. .. She also offered to help me buy all plants at her wholesale cost so I could save money and stay on the budget but she would charge me additional $125 an hour to do the leg work not to exceed an additional $1500. Glad I didn't use her to do that part. She also charged me $150 just to interview her and said that I could pick her brain :), At the interview She talked the whole time about how good she is and how so many of her customer's husbands fired her in the middle of the project because the project gets too expensive. She said all "these men are cheap" I should have paid more attention to the Red flags. Anyway be aware and be ready for the initial extra $150 charge! I hired her and I agreed to do the first design she provided but she still charged me $5K. (my mistake to leave loose ends on her contract). Then when it was time to buy plants I asked her if I could go with her to the nurseries. She came up with all kinds of excuses not to take me; including that the nursery would not let me in because they only sell to designers, that I could contaminate the plants, ETC. I became suspicious and asked her to provide pricing on the plants before we buy. She faxed me pricing from two different nurseries and told me that these were her wholesale costs and she is saving me so much money. I called both nurseries and gave them the same list that Roxy was working with. To my surprise the prices they gave me was 30% to 50% less than what she was going to charge me and they said that I am welcome to go there anytime I wish.. I called Roxy and told her that I will do my own purchasing but she could still supervise the planting phase for additional $125 an hour. That's when she quit and send me an e-mail accusing me of being too cheap! update: Five years has gone by now and her planting had turned in to a nightmare because of constant maintenance. She put too many plants in her design, too close to each other and wrong type of the plants that use different amount of water and grow out of control or they flower and then they die. I realize now that she does not know her plants.
