I saw that the bartender had to look up the recipe for our cocktails, but they came out fine. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

The host Nina was very friendly and attentive which was nice!! Nina was so sweet and all her recommendations were very helpful and good!! For starters I got the arugula shrimp salad but you do have the option to add beef as well! Oh this salad is so fresh and delicious the dressing was the key it was definitely balsamic and a smoky like favor that I was loving!! The entree was lamb chops with mashed potatoes ohhhh it was literally too pretty to eat lol but it was a nice portion not too much but enough to get you full! The sauce was another favorite and I had to ask for more as I'm a dipper it was very rich and flavorful! The lamb chops were medium well - so it was cooked to perfection!! Now can we talk about the drinks! Again based on Nina's recommendation I got the pink coco (2) and the upstate vodka fresh and I loved them all!! Overall the meals were great-reasonably menu with lots of option for beef, pasta, chicken, salad and sea food! They even had a few vegan options! Their prices in my opinion were reasonable for this meal of summed up to about $85 with taxes but did have 3 drinks and salad w entree! Guys it's such a hidden gem in my opinion as it's nestled close to a few restaurants, but I absolutely loved everything and recommend coming here for a dinner date, or even lunch!! I'll def will be back!!

It was before 6pm so we were able to find a seat. I think they have seats for only 25 people so prepare to stand when it gets busy. Our bartender was Edward and he was really nice. I ordered a Tiramisu Martini and then a Porn Star Martini. They were both good, but I preferred the Porn Star one. We also ordered a Smash Burger, which was actually from Holt's, connected to this bar. That burger was tasty - brioche bun & onions = yum. The chips it came with were crunchy. The Bacon popcorn was good but way too salty for me. Im glad we found this little bar and plan on coming back in the future.

We went out with Park Ridge friends last weekend and they took us to this charming bar. I read a…read morefew reviews that said that Pines Room has a small town vibe. I disagree--I am a Chicago boy and it has a big city hidden gem quality about it. In fact, they promote themselves as a speakeasy. Of course you can get any cocktail you want, but my husband and I both opted for a special strawberry cocktail made with Hendrick's gin. It was refreshing, not too sweet, and garnished with a dehydrated lemon slice. Perfect! Our friends both ordered old fashioned cocktails that looked equally as good. It was a Saturday night and this tiny bar was jam-packed. We had to stand, but it was okay because we had only stopped in for one drink before heading to another restaurant for dinner. The bartenders were friendly and efficient. Prices are not inexpensive, but average to what you'd find in a downtown Chicago restaurant. If you''re looking for a cool place to hang in Park Ridge with a craft cocktail and have a small bite (they have a limited food menu, too), Pines Room is the place.

Something for everyone, including those who want to venture into some funky flavors. But more importantly, their staff are incredible. I've been to a lot of tiki bars lately where the ambiance is great, the drinks are great, but the folks running the show aren't all that engaged. Here everyone was supporting each other, bantering about what drinks best suit a customer's request, and generally just trying to have a good time in the post-midnight-on-a-Friday delirium. That kind of energy makes for such a great time for everyone there. And it wasn't just one or two people working, but maybe about a dozen wrapping up the night. Kevin was more or less the star of my bar experience, but I wish I could have gotten everyone's name because they each played a part in my great time there. If you have one rum-focused bar you can visit in the Chicago area make it this one. You won't regret it.

Having never been bere, I planned my husband's birthday party at VLounge on a Saturday when Julian…read moreJumpin Perez was DJ'ing for "Old School Saturday". I called and spoke to with Frank and he was kind enough to reluctantly reserve a couple tables for us, only if I promised to have at least 20 people. He informed me he would charge me if I didn't show with 20 people, which I understood because after all, he could have reserved those tables for other parties and he already had a large party booked for the bar. I started to get nervous about a week before after reading many negative reviews about the place, including reviews stating people were discriminated against, forced to leave, had horrible service from their waitress, etc. I couldn't be happier with the way the night turned out and the way in which we were treated. When we arrived, there was a coat check available and the lobby was beautiful! I was very impressed with the ambience and decor. Our group included many people from diverse backgrounds including black, white, Asian, etc. I didn't feel discriminated against at all and our waitress, although extremely busy, was always checking on us and took care of our needs. She recommended some amazing drinks and despite what other reviews stated, was happy to keep separate tabs for people in our group. One of the men working that night bought my husband a drink for his birthday and at one point the DJ announced everyone's birthdays and the staff brought out a large piece of cake for each of the people there who were celebrating their birthday. I expected an older crowd since I read that VLounge attracted older people but that's what we were looking for since we are not as young as we used to be and would stick out like a sore thumb at any club, yet still wanted a sort of club experience. The crowd was a bit older than I even expected but everyone was nice and there to have a good time. We didn't experience anyone being rude and the dance floor was poppin'! I was pleasantly surprised! I have nothing but good things to say. The drinks were priced reasonably with a good amount of alcohol in them. The calamari was absolutely amazing! The ranch dressing, which one reviewer stated was disgusting, was one of the best I've had. I was happy they actually had ranch dressing because most Italian places do not have ranch. You can tell it's homemade, too and it was the perfect dipping sauce for their calamari. The calamari came out nice and hot and crispy and there were no ro rubbery pieces or weird looking pieces (like usual) that nobody wants to eat and are just left on the plate as waste. The place was PACKED, so of course our server was not able to keep up with the empty glasses and plates on our table but that did not impact our night in any way. I read one negative review stating that the empties were not removed from the table fast enough. I think sometimes people just look for something to complain about because it was completely understandable, considering the amount of people our waitress was serving and how hard it was to move around in the room. The bathrooms were clean but at one point in the night, there was a girl in the stall next to mine throwing up and it was all over the floor, including splashing all the way over into my stall and onto my shoes. It was pretty disgusting but when I exited the stall, I was happy to see staff in the restroom trying to take care of the situation. I believe many of the negative reviews I previously read were unfortunately from people who wanted to come for the free entertainment and were too cheap to spend any money on drinks or food or were not dressed appropriately. Furthermore, any reviewer claiming discrimination...it is my opinion that the reviewer must have been rude or had to have done something to warrant a negative response from the employee. I do not feel any if the employees were discrimanatory. Either that or it was an isolated situation and thankfully, we didn't have that experience! I do wish the staff had nametags so I could have known my server's name or I could have met Frank, considering I was speaking to him on and off the few weeks prior to our event. It also would've been nice to know the gentleman's name who was working the room when we were there and interacting with our group, since he was extremely cordial and professional. All of our guests told us what a fun time they had and what a nice place VLounge was. We don't get out much these days due to our children being young but I do hope we get a chance to go back! I urge you to give VLounge a chance and check it out for yourself! You won't be disappointed!

A woman seated near the entrance informed us there was a $10 cover charge for males. My friend and I paid, while our wives were allowed in for free. Not even ten feet inside, the same security guard stopped us and said the cover was actually $20 per person. I pushed back on this, and he ultimately let it go. Once inside, we realized we were the only customers in the entire bar. The music was extremely loud--so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak--but we ordered drinks anyway. My wife later approached the security guard to ask about the inconsistent cover charge, given that the bar was completely empty. When my friend's wife went over to join her, another security guard intervened and told them they needed to relax and that they were not allowed to touch each other, even though they were simply holding hands. After witnessing this interaction, we stood up and approached the security guards to understand what the issue was. Unfortunately, the response we received was rude and disrespectful, especially toward paying customers. To avoid further confrontation, we chose to leave. Based on this experience, we will not be returning to R Place.
