Large sectional sofa and large wooden work bench were left in the basement, plus kitchen countertop slab left in the garage from previous homeowner (seller). She made it very difficult and took no responsibility to ensure the seller removed these large items before the closing. And even more so difficult to have them removed after closing. She tried to convince us to keep the sofa and put these items in the contract after saying no we don't need them. And then complained after closing, saying you are now the homeowner so you call the municipality to have bulk items removed. This was such an inconvenience. This was the sellers responsibility to remove all items before close. What was suppose to be a joyful experience of purchasing a home quickly became the WORST realtor experience ever!! BEWARE !! Do not use Ying Gautreau as your real estate agent.

First, my wife and I spoke to Trish by phone extensively from California, letting her know our needs and checking generally for mutual chemistry. The match-up felt good and, upon arrival, Trish did what she told us she would do: she took us on a full afternoon's driving tour of the five townships that we were searching for a rental house. During that visit, and over the course of another, Trish showed us many relevant homes for rent. Soon we found the place we ultimately rented when she took us into a home that hadn't yet been put on the market but was represented by a realtor friend of hers. Trish represented us strongly during the negotiation of the lease and while ironing out the various kinks that came up during our move-in. We now will have Trish represent us in our search for a home to purchase during the coming year. In summary, Trish is a friendly and empathetic professional with 20 years' worth of inside knowledge of Summit, New Jersey, and the surrounding towns. Barbara stated that she has clients that are "looking for exactly what our house offers" and that we are right in the price range they are looking at as well. When I proceeded to tell Barbara that our home is for sale by owner, and we are paying buyers brokers a 2% commission, she immediately reverted and said "Well, I only work for 2.5% commission, so I just won't tell my clients about your house". WOW. And I always thought that realtors should put their clients best interest first, not their commission . WARNING to anyone looking for a realtor- Barbara Lewis clearly does NOT put her clients first and I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for a professional real estate agent.

When we tried to get the issues fixed or credits, the seller refused to fix issues, said they were just going to rent the property effectively ending the deal, and then proceeded to re-list the property still without disclosing the issues. Avoid trying to buy any house she is selling and be careful if you use her as your realtor, it's only a matter of time before she gets in trouble for her practices.

On move-in day, I was even greeted with a box of local bagels, which was such a thoughtful touch (especially since I had forgotten to eat!). The community here has been warm and welcoming. My daughter and I have already made friends and connected with some great neighbors. The complex truly feels more like resort living than your typical apartment, which is such a bonus--who wouldn't want that? The pool is fantastic, and I love that there's a lifeguard on duty at all times. I also have to shout out the maintenance team--when I had a minor issue, it was handled quickly and efficiently. Kwame Chapman responded but absolutely refused to provide any indication about pricing. So I asked again about pricing and again she refused to disclose any pricing. This went on back and forth numerous times. So I finally asked for the phone number for the leasing office so I could get pricing and Kwame ceased responding all together. Kwame's email signature very unprofessionally does not include a phone number because she clearly does not want to bothered with phone calls. Any other apartment is transparent in their pricing and post pricing right on their website. Here at Modera, there is no pricing on their website and inquiring with Kwame Chapman yields no results. Hence apartment not rented! If Modera is this unhelpful in leasing an apartment to new tenants, I can't imagine how they treat existing tenants.
