Knowing professionally the history of care and thoughtfulness I 've experienced working with them over the years, it was a no brainer. Brandon and Byron were both exceptional in caring for us and my mom. They ensured our requests were met, including the last minute changing of fresh flowers and had written notes we wanted her to have and to hold in her final moments here on earth. I am forever grateful for you, Brandon and Byron, and your great care and compassion. Losing a wife, mother and grandmother so quickly is so hard. You helped make this traumatic experience and time for us more easy to bear. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -Erin

The grounds are well maintained and look very nice. Parking can be a little tricky, especially if there is more than one service happening at the same time, like the night that I attended. When I walked in the front door, there were directional signs as well as staff members to direct traffic to the appropriate service. The facility is nice and has a large chapel for services as well as rooms for families to greet guests. It has a very LDS feel to it, from the décor to the LDS hymnals in the chapel. Although based on another review, I'm sure they will accommodate other religions/beliefs as well.

All of the five star reviews are accurate: I can't recommend Utah Valley Mortuary highly enough…read more I live out of state and was in Utah to be with my mom as her life ended. In the days leading up to her passing, I was in no mood to do a lot of research and price comparisons with mortuaries. I had received a few recommendations from local friends and acquaintances, and Utah Valley Mortuary was the first (and only) place I called to make arrangements, in an almost arbitrary selection process. I was fortunate, then, that Matt and his team were extremely sensitive and professional from the very beginning. As others have mentioned, their pricing is reasonable and they didn't push us to buy anything we didn't feel we needed, which was great because when we buried our father 12 years ago the mortuary we used attempted to prey on our grief and push us to spend unnecessarily. Mom's body needed to be transported to California for burial and Matt was literally right at our side through the entire process of coordinating with the receiving mortuary. He made sure we understood all the expenses that the other guys were charging us as well. When we found out that our cemetery wouldn't be able to schedule us for burial for several weeks, Matt let us store the body on his site for extra time at no extra charge. I had Matt's cell phone number in order to call and text him on short notice and he was always so quick to respond. If I lived in Utah Valley I would plan on using this mortuary for all future services involving the passing of my loved ones. But since I don't, the best I can do for now is to strongly recommend Utah Valley Mortuary to you and anyone else looking for the highest quality assistance in dealing with end of life logistics. A bright highlight in a time of mourning.

When my mom passed away this year, we went to a mortuary in Magna and had an amazing experience!…read moreThe owners were so great! on top of everything, I could get a hold of them easily day and night, obituary, programs, viewing, videos, everything handled professionally and good quality. You could tell they actually cared about the business and the family members. We buried her in Memorial Redwood Cemetery. My dad met with Memorial Redwood staff to pay for headstone and burial, and then paid to just have his funeral and everything handled there to make travelling easier for everyone. Sadly my dad passed only 4 months later. Initial meetings with Memorial went well, Monica was nice and professional, and I thought going forward everything would also go well. It did not! Directors were not easy to get a hold of, obituary went out a day later than it should have. On the day of my dad's funeral, they were setting up tables for a luncheon, not a funeral! The main girl who was supposed to be helping us the day of funeral was very unprofessionaL We paid for the media package, but the programs were printed with a cheap printer, looked terrible! The day before funeral, I typed out hymn lyrics for funeral, all 3 songs on one sheet, because they didn't have hymnbooks, I sent it to media person who said they would print them as part of media package, and have them ready for funeral, but next day, they did not have them. They had copied 2 out of the 3 songs, and only printed about 10; we had about 120 people in attendance, so I knew we needed more printed, and that 3rd song they didn't print any at all! I asked the girl who was supposed to be helping us, and she reassured us they were printing and would be ready and put on chairs by the time of the service. As it was getting closer to the funeral and still none were passed out, I asked her again if they would be ready by the funeral service, and she was annoyed, but reassured me they would be ready and passed out, but it never happened!!! During funeral, majority of the congregation could not sing, because they didn't know the words, and no one could sing the 3rd song, because none were printed! The girl stayed on the couch much of the time, and was pretty much useless! They also didn't have enough staff to move all the chairs and tables, to get ready for luncheon, so my aunts and cousins had to help. The whole day just felt chaotic and stressful, not peaceful like the experience with my mom's passing. The girl even told me at the end, that our services went better than most. My sister and I wished we would have went somewhere else.

Elijah and his co-worker were so gentle and respectful as they arrived at my parents' home to retrieve my mother's body. They showed up in nice suits and took their time transferring my mother to the gurney. The lovely quilt they used to cover her was such a thoughtful touch. They were sensitive to our heightened emotions and did their work with great care and respect. Similarly, the staff at Larkin Sunset Gardens were professional and considerate as we planned my mother's funeral. Aaron Miller and Garrett Nelson were helpful while reviewing with us my parents' pre-planned burial arrangements and planning my mother's funeral. I was relieved that we were not hustled into paying more than necessary and that Larkin honored the terms of the arrangements that my parents had previously made and paid for. When it came time to dress my mother, Funeral Director Coltin Morrison was gentle and helpful. He worked with great care to assist us. I appreciated that he took the extra step to steam my mother's clothing before we dressed her. Finally, during my mother's funeral, the Larkin staff who assisted us there were professional and thorough in taking care of all the necessary details. All in all, the experience of saying goodbye to a loved one is very emotional and heart-wrenching. It was good to depend on the staff at Larkin Mortuary and Larkin Sunset Gardens to see us through the process of burying my mother. My husband and I were so impressed that we returned to buy plots next to my parents' plots. We trust that Larkin will take good care of us when our own time arrives.
