It's never fun to have to attend a funeral, but when you do, you want a place that is empathetic and kind. I attended a viewing last night for a friend from many years ago, so my review is based on my experience as a guest, rather than someone that had to plan the funeral directly. The building itself is a little dated and in an older part of town, but it seemed to be well maintained. There was plenty of parking, and I noticed overflow parking available across the street, if needed. Upon entry, it was very clear where to go, sign the guest book and then proceed to visit the family. There is a calm, quiet feeling throughout the building-at least in the areas that I visited. I hope not to have to be in a position to plan a memorial service for someone any time soon, but if I do, I would consider Goff as a viable option. read more

I was extremely impressed with this place. Chad took great care of my husband's funeral and left no detail undone. The Draper facility is beautiful with a comfortable feel. He was flexible with our personal wishes, the flowers were stunning, the makeup very well done (it's not as easy as people think!), and I totally recommend this place! I was here for a funeral today.... I didn't have any interaction with people who worked here... but I give it two stars because the wallpaper is falling off the walls and the ceiling tiles are water stained and really need to be replaced. I gave one star for the cool stain glass window of Christ. Spend a little money and update the place. It needs it bad. read more

Goff mortuary in Midvale, Utah did an amazing job helping my family make all funeral arrangements for our beautiful mother that passed on July 23, 2019. Michael and Chad were so helpful, caring, and respectful of our feelings during this very difficult time. They were very professional and we never felt pressured to purchase any service that was not needed or wanted. They listened to our wants and needs and did exactly what we asked for. They were also very helpful after the funeral. They helped us find an attorney and CPA to help finalize our mothers' estate. They also helped us with making death notification. The loss of our mother was very painful and Goff was there to help us through every aspect and it was truly appreciated by our entire family. Thank you Goff for all you do. I was very impressed with the staff here. Michael was extremely helpful and empathetic when my friend's mother passed. She was not able to see her mom before she died, and Michael and Chad allowed her to see her mom prior to the viewing and funeral. It was very healing for my friend to be able to do this. A few things: I hate that I am familiar enough with Goff that I know I can give them 5 stars. I also hate that when I checked in here for my mother's funeral that I was made the Duchess. Here's hoping that I do not get to keep that title at this establishment. That being said, I am so glad that when there is a death of a loved one, that I know I have Goff Mortuary to rely on. I have known the owners of Goff now for many years. Del Ballard owned and operated for many years, and is now semi-retired. The new owner, Chad Anderson, is top notch and has filling the shoes left by Ballard effortlessly. He has a team of employees that I entrusted with my Mom's after life care. I was not disappointed. Mom died on a Friday, they picked her body up during that night and had her at their facility by Saturday morning. We met with Chad on Saturday and planned her service with him. Viewing was Monday, funeral was Tuesday. There was not one single hiccup! Now here is where things get a little confusing: Mom had already planned her service and paid the mortuary. She had met with Goff 6 years prior and purchased death insurance. I am so pleased that she did. She was able to choose her coffin and had basically paid for everything that we would have been paying for. Smart. Just smart!! I love that Goff offers this service so that when Mom died we did not have to come up with the money for her after life care. Now here is where Chad's integrity comes in to play. Mom had paid for everything and Chad was able to save us some money with advising us on running the obituary only one day; she had payed for flowers and we got a deal with their connections to Ruth's Floral to get a beautiful casket spray; the rest of the services were also covered by the prepurchase, and we have money left over for her headstone. Chad even said to us something akin to: We are paying enough for her end of life care, there is no need to over pay for any service they provide. Well done, Chad! Our service went off without a hitch. Everything went exactly as we were told it would. These guys are experts in their field. Mom's body was well respected and looked exactly as it should have for her viewing. Chad invited the family to help prepare her for burial by dressing her, doing her hair and make up. Everything was perfect. What is more, Chad answered every question I had about what they had done to her body to prepare her for burial, and did so in such without apology or hesitation. He knows his business, and does it well. After the services we even got a call from one of their employees to help us through what happens next. What calls did we need to make to social security, retirement plans, banks, credit cards, etc. These were things we probably would have eventually thought of, but Goff made sure we were aware that they needed to be taken care of sooner than later. Well done, Goff! I think it says a lot about a company if you can trust them to handle the plans after your Mom dies. And Goff was that place for me. Let's be honest that we all are going to have to face the mortality of a loved one throughout our lives. Goff is my place and I recommend them to anyone. read more

My family used Goff when my grandparents passed away. Our first experience was two years ago when we lost grandpa and recently with the loss of grandma. Chad and the entire Goff staff have always been very professional, kind, sensitive and caring. All of my interactions with the staff have been wonderful, right down to the respect and sensitivity shown when they came to collect my grandparents from the home when they had passed away. About a year ago my grandmother and I visited Goff so she could choose her coffin and familiarize herself with some of the items relating to her funeral. It was a great reassurance to my grandmother to know how respectful and kind the Goff team was when her husband passed away and left her feeling secure knowing she would be dealt with in a compassionate manner, along with her family, when it would be her time. One thing that I believe is new since my grandfather passed away, someone from Goff will offer to help you to make any death notifications necessary (such as to social security, life insurance policies, banks, etc). This was a major help and extremely appreciated. Losing a loved one is so difficult. You can go into the Goff office or have someone from their team come to your home to make these death notifications. This is a truly excellent service. There are so many pieces and notifications you make following the loss of a loved one and it is so helpful to have support through this process. read more

My family has used Goff Mortuary for two generations. The "old guard" were wonderful, but in 2021 we dealt with the new folks (generation?) running Goff. Wow! what a difference. I don't remember the name of the person we dealt with but I do remember his condescending manner, his rudeness in continually interrupting us, his irritation at my repeated questions (it was hard for me to keep his answers in my mind, due to grief I guess), and his unwillingness to make disability accomodations (ASL) for a large number of our guests . The night of the viewing the weather was treacherous with pouring rain/wet snow. We family members in the receiving line were completely unaware that a long line of guests waited outside in the rain until one guest informed us. I believe someone from the mortuary staff should have been aware of this and invited our friends to come inside until it was their turn to talk to us. As it was, I left the receiving line, went outside, and moved everyone indoors. This took quite a while as I first had to ask everyone inside the lobby to move to accomodate the newcomers, then go to the outside guests, who were lined up well into the parking lot, to move them inside. It was quite a circus and in the process I missed interacting with others who came and went. I have seen mortuary staff at other viewings bring family members water as they stood in the receiving line, but we had to break line to get a drink from the fountain. Again, this meant that we missed talking to some of the guests who came and went while one or the other of us searched for water. It is likely that bringing family members water is not part of Goff services, but in light of the rudeness we experienced at other times in our interactions with Goff, it is something we remember. I wish I could be more positive as the older generation of owners were good friends of our parents and helpful when it came time for our parents' services, but the new generation is very much lacking, I'm sorry to say. One may wonder why it has taken me a bit over a year to discuss this, but I wanted to let enough time elapse to make sure I was looking at things objectively. A few days ago, I attended services for another family member with a different mortuary assisting us. Turns out our recent experience was entirely different, so I decided to write this review to help others (and maybe even help the Goff staff in the process). read more

My mother passed on 6/11/17. Although she was in Orem at the time, a representative of Goff mortuary went in the middle of the night to secure her body. Every step of the planning for her funeral was handled with great respect for our feelings. Not once did I feel pressured to purchase more than was needed for a beautifully simple service. There is no match to the professionalism and reverence that the people at Goff show to those they are working with. The Andersons show so much respect for the families and the deceased. I can't thank them enough for the care and compassion that was shown to our family. Warm, respectful and very reasonable. I was asked to help with arrangements for my nephew's funeral. I started with Goff becaise they helped us with two relatives in the past. I shopped around and found Goff to be the most reasonable and also the most accommodating because I dealt directly with the owner. I highly recommend them. read more
