Noel was able to coordinate additional decorations from a previous event without charging us which we really enjoyed. The outside deck gives good views of Lynnhaven inlet as well. Service during our event was great, not intrusive and professional. Starting out with 5 stars because of Noel and her staff. Negatives, Food quality is about a 3 out of 5 stars and not representative of the price you are paying. Most items were clearly pre-made food service items that were re-heated or deep fried. Chicken was a little dry, sauce was pre-packaged, shrimp were fried or baked from frozen with sriracha sauce drizzled over them and labeled bang bang shrimp, apps were pre-made food service company items. We were disappointed in the food at the tasting, commented that we wanted the kitchen to step it up, but ended up with the same crap food for the event. Minus 1 star. They charge a service fee to pay with credit card here. I don't appreciate a business passing on the fee that a credit card company charges them so that they can offer that payment method to their customers. It's a slimy business tactic. If you're going to nickle and dime me for your costs, just build it in to your prices and then offer a cash discount. Minus .5 stars. Overall, we really enjoyed our event and our service was great, but the food is cafeteria quality at best. Fortunately, most people were distracted enough by the event to not care, but we definitely noticed.

If you want a hand in things or to get a pre-look at everything, don't do it here. They want to have free rein. The building is not wheelchair accessible. One of the bridesmaids was in a wheelchair and had to me lifted into the venue in her dress. There is no where to take pictures of the bridal party or families as it is in the middle of a block with a big parking lot in front of it. Severely overpriced. The kids booked the venue for their wedding in April 2024. They were sent a "Proposal Contract" but never an actual Contract. This concerned us from the start. So, they paid their 50% deposit and started working on other things. One huge thing that they should have been told was that it was Hampton University's homecoming, and the parade makes a U around the venue. Being a professional and knowing something that big happening should have been told to them. Their photographer and videographer barely made it before the ceremony started. They go no pre wedding photos. In the meantime, in August, I contacted Betty to get some referrals for catering, which she never sent to me. Even though she told our planner she did. As the days came closer and we were getting down to less than a week, my daughter was informed that it would take them about an hour to change the room over for the dinner settings. What do you do with 80 people when the majority of the space is being changed over. They suggested horderves. I spent another $600 unbudgeted money for extras. Had this been said in April we could have handled it a different way. Three days before the wedding I started looking at their social media accounts and noticed no cups or utensils in the settings. I called to ask. First, I was told that the caterer was taking care of it. My daughter had already told her it was a themed buffet and the caterers just deliver. She then changed it to they are having "unconventional" catering they would put out plastic items. So, three days before the wedding, I had to start rush ordering the food items needed. Another thing not budgeted. Again, why are they not paying attention or even writing down conversations. My daughter also asked for the dancing area to be in the center of the room. She was told they didn't really do it that way. She cried to me about it. I gave my concerns to our planner, and she called Betty, the conversation was far from professional. At one point our planner said "we can speak to each other civilly" she said she had told my daughter she would do the dance floor, which was a lie. She asked to see a setup of the tables then was hung up on . Within minutes, Betty was on the phone with my daughter's new husband about how they didn't trust her and she was not speaking to our planner. And that they saw the tables in April. This added so much stress they didn't need. Who remembers then?!? The next day they suddenly had a video "walk through" of the tables. The kids said she was just rude the whole time. But they didn't want to lose their $3500 deposit. I wish we had just lost it. She didn't hire a florist and put the bouquets together herself. My daughter had asked for a cascading bouquet, but it was round. And very fake looking. We are all really trying to figure out where the $7500 worth of things were. The kids did have a great day. Bur when you pay that amount of money for a venue, you expect much more professionalism and more for that amount of money.

The bride's room where she gets ready is just a bathroom and the only seat is a toilet. They were unprepared to give instructions to the wedding party and waited Until the ceremony start time to arrange the wedding party. Once we were seated in the ceremony room, which was after the scheduled start time we waited an additional 15 minutes while they cycled through several songs that were not on the brides list of songs. They were not prepared for the requested songs. During the ceremony they moved the dressing partition next to the sand mixing which greatly distracted from the bride and groom. After the ceremony they refused pictures without masks and asked us to leave. The bride, groom, and pastor did not have to wear masks the entire time inside but everyone else did. We could not even drop the masks for pictures. We were there for one and a half hours and it cost $800 and all we got was some paper flyers, a sand glass container, a certificate, and constant reminders about masks. Do NOT recommend at all.
