The clock was maintained by an excellent, trustworthy clock shop in Toledo, Ohio. I took my clock there until the shop owner retired. After moving to Fort Wayne I needed to find someone to service my clock. I took my Landmark clock and another mantel clock to The Clock Shoppe on July 26th, 2022. I was told by James Hansen, the clock technician, that both clocks could not be repaired. He advised gutting both clocks of their chime/wind up mechanisms and converting them to battery power automatic clocks. He gave me a written estimate of the repairs, and told me it would be 6 months before the clocks would be finished. I gave him permission to go ahead. In October 2022, I called the shop and was told the clocks were still not finished and that someone would call when they were done. In March 2023, I called again. The clocks were still not finished. In April 2024, I had enough. I wanted my clocks back whether they were finished or not. BE ADVISED: The shop is not open every day. They are only open 2 days a week and it is difficult to reach anyone, so this time I contacted the shop by email. His wife apologized and said only one clock was completed, and I could come to the shop and get it. I picked up my Landmark clock on April 16, 2024. The clock had been converted and was working. But the chime quality was definitely not the same. His wife gave me a substantial discount on my bill and promised me that my other clock would be repaired, free of charge, and delivered to my home in a few days. They offered me no explanation as to why they took 1 year and 9 months to repair my clock or why they had never contacted me. When I got the Landmark clock home, the chime had no volume whatsoever. I was very disappointed. James brought the mantel clock to our home on April 24th, 2024. Today, June 6, 2024, the Landmark clock will no longer keep time. It's ruined. It's no longer a chime clock. I can't take it to any other clock repair, and I certainly won't take it back to The Clock Shoppe. If you have a chime clock that you love and cherish, save yourself the heartbreak that I have endured. Listen to me: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOCK TO THE CLOCK SHOPPE. Do not listen to their advice. Do not allow them to make any modifications to your clock. Keep your clock intact, the way it is, and take it somewhere else. I wish I would have never allowed them to touch my beautiful clock.

The older guy who runs the shop didn't even look at the clock or its works before declaring that the best way to fix the clock was to completely remove the beautiful brass clockwork and chimes, replacing the original works with a cheap Japanese battery powered works with cheesy chimes. God, knows what he would have charged me to make this completely unnecessary conversion. Eventually, took it to another clock shop and the guy said theres nothing wrong with the clock movement, all it needs is lubrication. He oiled it. It works perfectly. And he charged me $25.
