    Get Smok'd BBQ

This place started showing up in my social media feeds constantly. All day. Every day. Smoked meat?…read moreI'm listening. Smoked meat and homemade peanut butter pie? In the same building?! Immediate must-try status. I hatched a plan to visit on a chilly January Friday night, knowing they'd recently been selling out of items before their posted 7pm closing time. The target: 5:30pm. Risky enough to feel exciting, early enough to still secure smoked meat. A calculated move. Get Smok'd is located in a strip mall, and when I arrived, most of the front parking spots were full. Brief "oh no" moment...then I snagged a spot from someone pulling out and hustled inside. The dining room was much more spacious than it looked from outside, though many tables were already filled. I stepped up to the counter fully prepared--having studied both the menu and their social media all week in belly-growling anticipation. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with street corn and a fountain soda. Adventure Buddy went with the Lamb Gyro special, coleslaw, and a soda. Total for dinner came in around $40, which felt very reasonable for the amount of food. We timed it perfectly. About 10 minutes after we arrived, a large party of ~20 people walked in and filled a reserved table. More folks followed right behind them and suddenly the place was packed, buzzing, and running low on seats. Lamb Gyro: Fantastic. The smoke really came through on the lamb, and the tzatziki was super cucumber-forward, which Adventure Buddy loved. It was also a generous portion for the price--always appreciated. Street Corn: First off, the presentation was on point. The husk flared out like a little sunburst--very eye-catching. The cook on the corn was perfect, seasoning was just right, and the ear itself was a great size. Goldilocks corn. Coleslaw: This one missed the mark for us. The cabbage itself was fine, but the dressing was very bland and there was a lot of it--bordering on cold coleslaw soup territory. Not our thing, though it might work for some. Pulled Pork Sandwich: The pulled pork? Fabulous. Moist, juicy, perfectly smoky. I paired it with the Lawd That's Good traditional sweet sauce and ate every last bite of the meat. The roll, however, didn't live up to the pork--it felt like an odd mismatch. I skipped the bread and focused on the star of the show. Peanut Butter Pie: I...was not prepared. I did not expect a smoked meat joint to casually deliver one of the best peanut butter desserts I've had in a long time. This isn't a slice--this is a personal peanut butter pie. I'd guess 5-6 inches wide, about 1.5 inches thick, served in its own tin and piled high with whipped cream. This wasn't dessert--this was an entire second meal. At $10, it was worth every single penny, and I seriously debated ordering another. I will absolutely be back just for this pie. Overall, Get Smok'd BBQ earns a solid 5 stars from both me and Adventure Buddy. Friendly staff who checked in, meat smoked to perfection, and a peanut butter pie that completely stole the show. Good lawd! PRO TIP: If you're planning to visit later in the day, check Get Smok'd on social media first. They sell out. Early. Often. Don't waste a trip just to find locked doors and shattered BBQ dreams. This place is hot right now--and very much worth the visit if there's still smoked meat left to be had!

I had the double Patty smash burger with bacon and it was one of the best burgers I have had. There was also some homemade pickle Chips that were delicious. We split a PB pie. I hope they do coconut pie at some point. My only critique is the burger (all sandwiches) should come with potato chips. Or fries but I am thinking they don't have a fryer there. I didn't mind the price of the burger but the sides were too expensive for me to add. I just wanted something more with that burger. If that burger had Chips would be 5 stars. Highly recommend this place. I look forward to eating there again.

NIGHTMARE: What started as a promising partnership ended in outright disappointment. We found…read moreLittle's Catering (Chef Mark Little) through our venue's vendor list. In doing our research it was clear that Little's had very favorable reviews. We chose Mark after speaking with him. He came to our home and cooked a meal for us and our parents. Mark took notes while offering recommendations. Afterwards he said he would come back to our home for an additional tasting with the changes we made to the menu. Again, Mark cooked a great meal for my wife and I and discussed some other additions, such as the fact that now Mark would also be offering bartender services for our wedding. Things were going well to that point. A month before our wedding we started noticing change. Mark was less responsive and more stressed. For example, Mark posted a cryptic video on his social media page. He was teary-eyed, explaining that at the end of the year he would cease operations with the catering business to focus on his food truck operations. My wife reached out asking if things were OK. He claimed they were. Fast forward to 10/10, the day before our wedding, and Mark explained he would be onsite to setup around 2:30p. By 4pm Mark was a no-show. All we had was a text stating "Be there in 20 min." On the morning of 10/11, I received a text from my fiance at about 10am stating Mark would be at the venue soon. Concerning because dinner was to start at 6pm. Mark did not show until 12:30p. He was clearly flustered and stressed. Immediately things unraveled. Our his/hers drinks at cocktail hour weren't being mixed or garnished. He didn't bring coolers and ice as he said he would for beverages. By dinner it was a total $hit-show. The dinner was unprepared. It took 2 hours to get 100 people of 130 served. 3 tables (30 people) went without food! We were mortified. We asked for 5 vegetarian meals weeks prior, and about 45 min into the dinner I took notice those guests did not have dinners. It was clear he forgot. Our venue notified us the next day they knew we would be having issues because shortly before the dinner they received a frantic email from Mark asking to rent their flatware. Sadly, Mark was to provide a set of flatware that we thought would've matched our wedding nicely, so we had to settle for something different. As time went on, several of our wedding party and family confronted Mark in the kitchen. He was not able to hold himself together, they report. Mark left the venue and his poor employees, some of whom were in tears, to fend for themselves. Mark was to serve chicken picatta. He served a piece of chicken with melted cheese. He provided charcuterie that did not contain meat, and for some reason, his staff came and took the cheese cubes off the trays and back to the kitchen. Were we served that melted over our chicken? He used a carton of half/half creamer that belonged personally to someone in our wedding party and used personal Tupperware of ours to transport the food. Not sanitary at all. The food was bland and not what he made during our tastings. All in all, this review is long because of the comedy of errors associated with Mark's total failure to meet his contractual obligations at the bare minimum. My wife and I are deeply disappointed in Little's and Mark. He failed us and his staff miserably. Do NOT use this caterer OR his food truck services (Little Chateau Food Truck). I spoke to Mark, and he acknowledged his failure while apologizing in tears. Thankfully, my wife and I were able to secure a refund by disputing the charges with our credit card company. I hope others who have been victimized by Mark are able to do the same. Lastly, our venue removed Little's from their list of vendors and stated he is not welcomed back to their facility. Avoid Little's Catering, or like us, prepare to be ordering 20 pizzas for your guests, and having to relive the terrible experience over and over as your guests ask you about "that horrible caterer" and "did you get your money back" for weeks after. View his Google Reviews too!

We dropped by for lunch on a recent weekday. She ordered "The Meltdown" as her meal whike I had the "What The Weck" sandwich. Authentic "weck" is impossible to find in this area and I appreciated their attempt. Our bartender/server also brought additional chips for The Meltdown after we devoured the first batch. Whatever tortilla chips Flincy's uses are slightly thicker and ideal for this queso dip. Service here is fast and friendly. There's a large indoor bar/seating area as well as a nice outdoor bar. The outdoor space is enclosed and heated during cooler months and is a great open air spot when the weather warns up. I ended up getting the Sirloin Filet on the hot rocks and thought it was amazing. The steak was a good size for the price, the mashed potatoes had so much flavor, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious! I also thought the selection of vegetables was different from your normal broccoli or asparagus with steak dinners. We ended the meal with their gluten free lava cake which was so good! Overall, we had a great experience for our first time visiting. Our server was great and very helpful. The place does get pretty smoky with all of the hot rocks so they had to open the door to air it out, so I would keep that in mind.
