When we found out we were pregnant with our third and final kiddo, we knew we still wanted the…read moresupport of a doula. Even though you'd think we had the birthing process down by now, there are so many variables! The doulas we'd hired previously had moved out of state or were no longer practicing, so we checked in with our midwife and birth assistant for recommendations. That's how we found Nurturing Birth Doulas. We met virtually and knew right away they'd be a good fit. Working together as a team, Brenda and Whitney both demonstrate a clear passion for childbirth and being an advocate for the birthing mother, and a teammate and coach for the expecting father/partner. They provided numerous resources, asked us great questions, and helped us talk through some of the scenarios we might need to prepare for. They were very easy to communicate with and especially helped when I started having increased back pain late in the third trimester (see picture). When the time for birth came, Brenda met us promptly at the Birth Center. When my labor stalled, she talked me gently through my frustration. As soon as we all decided to take a rest for awhile, my labor ramped back up and off we went. Brenda was there stepping in to provide support for both my husband and me when needed. After the birth, she stayed until we were settled, well past midnight. She then visited a few days later to check on how we were doing and graciously navigated our older kids' meltdown. Although our birth and pregnancy ended up relatively uncomplicated and quick, and was not in a hospital, we really appreciated the peace of mind Brenda and Whitney provided us. They made themselves available to us in just the right way - not pushy about anything, very supportive, and providing evidence-based feedback on decisions we needed to make. We are grateful we found them and they were there to help us bring our son into the world! We definitely recommend this team to anyone looking for doula support.

My review remains with one agreed correction: 8 night nannies were not hired, we started the process of hiring 8 that fell through at different points like dropping contact/no shows. As an SBO myself I would never provide a negative review unless absolutely warranted. I did see another review where a customer allegedly felt Faith made some between-the-lines implications for leaving a review and I see where they would think that as Faith reached out to me about this review in a very threatening manner, stating they are noting this record and it may violate Yelps content/ privacy standards and apparently has asked for its removal. Yikes! *END EDIT Absolutely avoid this business at all costs. They have you pay your entire contract upfront - which is almost unheard of. The rate is nonrefundable, even if they do not provide you services. I'm out over $2k because we cancelled our contract early after 8 no-show night nannies. 8 times their employee either didn't show up or cancelled hours before. The last night nanny that called out day of service even contacted us saying that if we get a refund, she doesn't get paid. The company lied and exaggerated issues for no shows to make it more justifiably (as seen in the text attached). The nanny called us night of the accident saying she was fine AND she was on a flight for a trip the next day. Faith called it a "near deadly accident". Disgusting business dealings. Not only are they lying, but also putting them in such a desperate situation where the nanny is forced to reach out to the customer and guilt us to not taking a refund (second pic). We've since found another company to work with and they have been amazing, reliable, and professional.

Wife and I tried to use this service to hire a night nanny. They wouldn't give us a straight answer…read moreabout whether the providers they contract with are vaccinated. Eventually they did tell us that they don't and can't confirm that. The candidates we were connected to seemed great, but the interaction with the agency left a sour taste in our mouths. We felt like we'd be given the runaround whenever we had a hard question for them, which isn't a good way to start off. Leaving this review just so people know the agency believes they can't confirm vaccination status of its providers or require that providers be vaccinated. The founder said very few people get the flu shot anymore - big red flag! Edit: Since leaving this review, the company has contacted us implying that our negative review might come to the attention of our employers. I'm curious to see their response! What an experience. Buyer beware. Edit 2: Their reply here says they never said they'd contact our employers. Here is what they said, verbatim: that we would "receive a public response from us where it's discoverable by your employer and anyone else that may want to help your family in the future." We're smart enough to read the implication.

The team was constantly on hand to talk through whatever came up and to help us navigate challenging situations. Having Jackie at the hospital with us was amazing - she worked seamlessly with all the doctors and nurses at GW and lifted our spirits after several challenges during labor and delivery. We can't imagine going through this process without her. The services provided are well worth the price. The classes and workshops were extremely helpful and informative. They also helped to eliminate some of the fear of the unknown for first-time parents. I can't recommend Jackie, Ashley and Michelle enough - you will not regret working with them.

Run, don't walk, and hire her! :) Not only is Michele knowledgeable and talented regarding anything and everything prenatal, labor/delivery, and postpartum, but she brings the added layer of being approachable, honest, hilarious, and unbelievably encouraging. She is there to support the type of birth that *you* want - whatever that might be. She made me feel empowered, strong, and prepared. We found the three classes that they taught to be very helpful - giving us the right amount of information, as well as the right type of information. It also connected us to others in the community in similar stages of life. I always looked forward to attending. Additionally, during the labor and delivery, it seemed as if Michele almost served as a family member, doula, nurse, midwife, *and* doctor - she wore so many hats - all while making me feel extremely comfortable and supported. At every step along the way, and every decision point, I looked to her first for her insight and opinions. I also heard firsthand from both a nurse and midwife how much they appreciated having her as support to them as well. They gave me sound advice, they helped me be prepared for certain situations that they knew would come up in the hospital, they called ahead and made sure I would be transferred under a midwife at the hospital (they are good friends with a few which made me feel that much more comfortable), and they were available and checked in on me every step of the way, including the 5 days our baby had to stay in the NICU. Mairi and Emily come with such a wealth and depth of knowledge with years of experience that you can't help but feel safe and watched over under their care. They are well organized with a plan for every possible situation and the community groups that they place you in with other mom's delivering around the same time as you are invaluable to the process. This was my first child, and I will absolutely use their midwifery services again for any children that may come in the future. I highly recommend them for home births and any woman's care. I don't know how she does it! You and your bebes will be in excellent hands with her!! (Or any of her other co-workers, I'm sure). Jennifer took an amazing detailed account of our experiences and spent a good 30'min on the phone with me sharing her wisdom and experience with removing a tongue tie on a 4mo. Again, so patient- so kind. And I hope this is the last time I had to call her but I got mastitis!! She gave me a plan and was so patient when I was all over the place needing her to repeat it several times. This is my 5-star experience from start to finish: Pregnancy: I reached out to her when I had a subpar bedside manner experience at George Washington Hospital for my low-risk pregnancy. I couldn't imagine moving forward in maternity care with rotating OBs and random residents. I really wanted a home birth, but also wanted to find a midwife who would have an emergency transfer plan and not recklessly force a home birth. Cue Rachel! My husband and I both looked forward to cozy monthly appointments with her--she ensured that we were educated on important topics by guiding us through a few discussion points at every meeting. I never felt overwhelmed by information (or at a loss of what to ask). If she wasn't 100% certain about an answer to a question, she was honest about it and pointed me towards resources. Labor & Delivery: As I approached my due date, she was available by phone to discuss my uncertainty about whether or not my water broke. She arrived within an hour of us calling during active labor. She was with me during literally every contraction, tirelessly applying counter pressure, checking baby's heart rate, guiding my breath, and juggling a billion other things that I didn't know about. When I hemorrhaged during birth, she so acted quickly and calmly with Pitocin and a fundal massage that I didn't even realize the severity of the situation. There is nothing as delightful as being in my own bed eating my own food 10 minutes after giving birth, and Rachel facilitated it all so gracefully. Home births are messy (duh) and Rachel brought so much equipment, but she and the second midwife left our apartment cleaner than when they came. Postpartum & Misc Thoughts: I had so many follow-up appointments with Rachel where we were able to address everything from my baby's health to breastfeeding to my physical wellbeing and spiraling emotions. Paying a flat fee for ALL pregnancy through postpartum care is amazing--no hidden bills or up-charged items at the hospital (she administered multiple IVs during labor and didn't have to think twice about $$). There's an annual community gathering of her current and past clients, which is really special! The bond we built over the span of 9 months with Rachel is incredible and she will forever be an important person in our lives.

Throughout my pregnancy, Rachel led me through so much more beyond standard care - like prenatal nutrition, emotional well-being, and many "what if? have we considered...?" topics. I never felt rushed during our appointments. When labor came, it lasted much longer than expected, but Rachel guided me through every moment, keeping me focused and positive. Working closely with my doula, she created a series of labor positions that helped my sunny-side-up baby make his way earthside. Her skills, patience, and steady presence were everything I needed. After the birth, Rachel continued to show up with the same care and professionalism through at-home postpartum visits, which supported my goal of self-imposed bed rest and allowed me to stay in a peaceful bubble of recovery. Very disappointing experience. This was my first time ever going to this OB-GYN office, and from…read morethe beginning everything felt rushed. The communication was terrible, especially for a new patient. I paid $153 because I was having a concern and wanted to figure out what was causing it. I got tested for something I thought I might have, and while the results came back normal, I was still experiencing symptoms and wanted answers about why I was having the issue in the first place. Since nothing was really resolved, I scheduled another appointment because I wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on. When I got there, the receptionist told me they had tried to call me and basically said there was no point in being seen because my test results were normal. If that was the case, why wait until the day of my appointment to tell me? Why not call me the day before or even a few days before so I wouldn't waste my time coming in? I ended up just walking out. What makes this even more frustrating is that someone from the office had no problem calling me a few days earlier to ask how I would be paying, but nobody seemed interested in helping me understand why I was still having symptoms. Just because a test comes back normal doesn't mean a patient no longer needs care or answers. I came there looking for help and guidance, not to be brushed off because one test was negative. The entire experience felt like everything was on the patient to figure out. I had questions about what would happen if my results were positive, how treatment would work, and what the next steps would be, but I never felt like those things were clearly explained. As a new patient, I expected better communication, more concern, and a doctor who was interested in helping me find answers. Instead, I left feeling like my time and money were wasted. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office. Poor communication, rushed care, and a lack of concern for unresolved patient issues made this a very frustrating experience.
