They installed an entire system- Condenser, vents, air handlers in our condo in Boston, but now refuse to service. Have decided that they no longer want to drive that far. Needed a quote for a new AC. Betty-Jo came out and looked in the attic and recommended a heat pump. Then after waiting a few weeks for a quote she called and said their Project Manager would not work in my attic, and we needed to create a utility room in a bedroom, which was ridiculous. Three other companies laughed at this, and one got my heat pump set up with ease. There was nothing wrong with my attic for your competitors, and my heat pump is running without issue. Preferred Air recently performed a full replacement of my forced air heat pump system. This was in November of 2022. They performed the work on the exact timeline that was stated. Everyone on the install team was great. We had a minor issue this week with the system. They had a tech at our house in less than 24 hours to address it. The issue turned out to be with an older part of the system, unrelated to the install they had performed. They fixed the issue quickly and everything was working again. Really can't ask for, or expect, any higher level of service. Highly recommended. read more

Preferred Air has twice done excellent jobs diagnosing and replacing or repairing one of our condo unit's finicky HVAC systems. We've been treated with utmost courtesy by Leo who had to deal with our scheduled 2 month trip out of state. He never seemed to lose patience with our questions and requested work date changes. Quite remarkable and very much appreciated. Matt Evans is a super tech who replaced the evaporator coil on one unit on site. It's never worked as well. Brian just left (there are 4 at PA!) and he is a Godsend! He analyzed our systems problem and right away fixed some issues. We have a Bryant HVAC 11 old system. Preferred Air only charged us $89.95 for the work done and analysis. He also had to make several calls to clear the work with my working husband and myself, all of which he did with great patience and professionalism. He was easy to talk with and showed me respect and explained all the parts of the system that he was working on as well as what needed further work. He was able to price out the work in a professional and logical manner and left us with a come back date to complete the work after the parts arrive from 3 places all in 48 hours. Great technicians that really know their stuff. They have kept our 25+ year old forced hot air furnace running. They are very prompt for the scheduled visits and even called the day before to confirm. Glad to have this company to keep the heat on during the winter. Luis was awesome !! From the moment he entered the house, he was extremely professional and it was obvious from the outset that he knew exactly what he was talking about. I learned a lot about my system that I didn't know and he checked everything thoroughly and advised me on the things that he could fix and the things that I could do on my own to fix some of the other issues. My drain line was far too long (this was done by the original installer of the system which shall remain nameless !!) and he showed me how I could shorten it and make it more efficient - he didn't try to sell me any expensive services, simply showed me how I could fix it. First experience was great. We had the duct work for central air and but not the rest of the system. The sale and installation of what we needed was smooth and flawless, even the quick follow up calls were great. THEN when maintenance or service was needed it was a challenge. Call for a service call and was lucky to get someone here in 24 hours. Paid the OT rate when I had 3 little kids in the house and our heat broke and they came out to tell me that they don't have anything to repair our current system after I provided the information over the phone. Today called with AC problems, wanted to try them again for the sake that they did install the system (my mistake) was told that they would call when they were on their way sometime in the next 3 days....never again. read more

What a disappointment with Preferred Air after not having heat for a week a technician came out after my husband called and charged $150 for less than a 1/2 hour to diagnose that our new heating system on a house we just closed on would best require a whole new unit! Technician basically said it would cost more to replace heat exchanger then to attempt to fix we were told that someone would call with a quote for repairs vs replacement of new system. Never heard back. After a long cold weekend with no heat my husband called back Preferred Air again and was told someone would call us back with quotes. Still waiting 1 month later no call back. It seems that when we questioned why the unit could not be cleaned and parts replaced that both the technician and company want the solution that best benefits them and that is replacing and putting a whole new system. read more

Preferred Air has done countless jobs for me. Installations, maintenance, repairs, you name it. There is a reason you continue going back to a company time and time again, quality, service and knowledge, each and every time the folks at Preferred Air have exhibited all three. A number of years ago, I had two Heat Pumps changed in my townhouse, one of them right before Memorial Day weekend. The two guys started the installation, but all of sudden left and were gone for two hours. I truly wondered where they had gone, and a little concerned, until they came back with custom fabricated duct-work. They don't use run of the mill stuff from Home Depot, they have a Machine Shop so that all jobs are custom. In addition, that job was done, and the system up and running before the long weekend so that we had the air conditioning we needed. As an added touch, every time they have come to my residence, they make sure to put on booties to cover their shoes. read more

In the past 6 months I hired Preferred Air for two separate jobs. The first one was replacing a heating system in my mom's Townhouse in Salisbury, MA. They did a great job of installing an 80% system in tight quarters and my Mom was really happy with the process especially since they cleaned up everything which included an old outside pump that was an eyesore. Then a few months ago during a real bad cold snap I had an issue with my heating system at my house in Stoneham so I didn't hesitant to call them. As it turns out their Tech fixed the initial issue but a secondary one developed a few months later so I contacted them to report the problem which I stated wasn't an emergency. I received a phone call from Tom within a few hours and then we set up an appointment the next day. He showed up with one of his top Tech's and within a few hours the issue was resolved and the best part was not only did they fix the issue but they educated me on my system. I inherited this system when I bought the place so I never invested much time in understanding it so I learned more in a few hours about maintaining it from Tom and Rob than any manual or online tutorial which is what really impressed me. I recently had a failure of my central air conditioner. I called Preferred Air because my previous vendor was no more. I explained that for me, A/C in a serious health issue. They responded quickly and attempted a fix of the system which failed. the then gave me a set of options for replacing the defective part, the defective unit or the both the compressor and condenser/air handler. I elected to go with the all new equipment option. they got the system installed promptly and all of the work was done in a "neat and workmanlike manner " The got me back on line before the weather became a health concern. Overall I think that the price was a little high but the work was more than satisfactory and I am a very fussy customer. If you have time to shop around you might fond a better price but I doubt you will get a better job. In addition their technical competence, every one I dealt with from the techs on site to the office people was polite and professional. read more
