Monday I get a phone call maybe 10 minutes into my appointment time and I asked "Did you check your voicemail?" Then I was informed with an attitude that they do not work on Sundays. I am sorry that the universe allows emergencies to occur between Sundays and Mondays. Life happens! Then after I hang up they had the audacity to send me an invoice for $50 that WILL not be paid. Even prior to my 1st appointment I had to "pre-pay" which I have never done, not even at high end salons. I can understand if I was a "repeat offender" but just like attorneys, dentists and doctors there are salons everywhere. What a way to keep your client base!!! I do not even do this if a patient does not show up for an appointment at my office. Again, consider the situation?? They didn't ask about the situation it was all about the money. If a repeat offender of course I get it but things happen in life that take more important precedence than a haircut appointment. So if you are new and want to have to pre-pay for your service before even walking thru the door or EVER have an emergency 24 hours prior to your appointment DO NOT GO HERE-find a better salon!!!!!!!!!!

Shes as good with hair as sge is kind and friendly. She knows the latest trends, doesnt take forever, is very inexpensive ($26 For the first cut!) I went to her because i had just gone to a different older lady who gave me an old school outdated hair cut. Yuck. Less than 10 minutes and Paige had added beautiful layers and made me look amazing. Just moved here and have found my new stylist! I came with my 2 kids and she seemed delighted they were there. I also locked my baby in the car and she came out and helped me and acted like a sister or mom would have! I told her I could reschedule since i was eating up my app. Time. She said, "you stop that!" Ive got all the time in the world! She didnt but she sure put me at ease. She stayed in tge parking lot with me the whole time until help arrived and told me how she had done the same thing once. (Like 15+) It was damaged, dry, and even thinning on top pretty bad. After meeting with Sylvia, I explained that I wasnt sure what to do as far as color and cut but that my hair has really made me self conscious and depressed. She ensured me she'd be able to help and suggested I go lighter and get the red and dead ends outta there! She did say it would take a few sessions to get the red out before going lighter. I agreed and trusted her when she said that lightening my hair would soften my features a bit. Boy was she right! Lightening my hair did "soften" my facial features as opposed to the darker reds. As far as my thinning hair, she suggested a shampoo & conditioner which has helped my hair to grow back. The growth is a slow process but it's working! Sylvia is truly a blessing to me. God has given her the talent and skill to do hair! She listens to what you want, she suggests and advises, and she makes you geel welcome in the salon and her vibe is happy energy. I originally scheduled for an all over color, cut, and style - something I've done at multiple salons, in multiple states, with multiple stylist over the last 20 years. I can say without question my experience with Susie was the absolute worst I have ever experience. She claims to have over 30 years experience with color and cut, but it seemed like she'd never applied color before. She was constantly flipping my hair this way and that way all over the place, laying it over my face, tangling my hair, ripping tangles apart. At one point she even 'accidentally' hit me in the face with the coloring brush! It took her an HOUR to get the all over color complete and then I had to sit an additional 30 minutes to process. I had color smeared all over my forehead and cheek and she just left it there! By this point I had had enough and told her once we rinsed the color I wanted to skip the haircut and just get dried. She responded by saying that I HAD to let her cut it because she had done a rough trim before the color and it wouldn't be even if I didn't let her do the haircut. At this point I did get a little aggressive because no one should ever tell a customer that they can not withdraw their consent! I very firmly told her I didn't care what it looked like I didn't want anything further than just getting rinsed and dried. Her shampooing and conditioning of my hair was very rough and agitated so I could tell she was upset that I wanted to leave. After being rinsed we went back to the chair where she proceeded to try to comb my hair with a pick... without using any product. No detangler, no leave in condition, no heat protection, NOTHING. It was at this point I just said Stop, we're done and got out of the chair. I checked out at the front desk and again the woman there was incredibly kind and understanding. She nodded along as I explained what happened and it seemed like this is a story she has heard before regarding Susie, she didn't seem in the least bit surprised by my experience. She also let me know currently a lot of stylists are on vacation but in a few months several other stylists would be available if I wanted to give the salon another try. Just based my front desk experience I would give the salon another try, but definitely want to avoid Susie at all costs!

There's an educational component, too, so I learned how to make my hair look bomb without having to go into the salon! (Not quite as bomb, but pretty close!) The vibe is really nice, too, almost like you're hanging out with an old friend at a spa rather than getting a haircut--complete with nutritious and delicious snacks and beverages. I took away a star because it's incredibly hard to book and there are hidden fees. Serena charges $36 for "extra love" if you wait too long between color sessions but only books out seven weeks in advance. It can be a bit jarring to incur an additional $36 fee when you're already paying $200+ for a cut and color. I like to wait nine to ten weeks between sessions, and have even set calendar reminders 2-3 weeks after an appointment to try to book in time, but they are always full. This makes it really difficult when I don't plan months in advance--wanting to get a haircut before an event or holiday is extremely difficult with just one stylist who only works four days a week. There have been many times when I had to get haircuts elsewhere because I just couldn't get into the schedule in time. It's always a little heartbreaking to really want to get a cut within seven weeks before an event or a holiday and there'll be nothing available for for nine weeks. Right now I'm going to a different studio that's a 45-minute drive for me but would definitely switch back here if it was easier to schedule so I know I could both avoid extra fees and also be able to get a cut before an event if I plan it out a month and a half or two in advance.
