The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic. They let me fully nerd out over some skulls, which honestly made my day. You can tell there's real care and expertise behind everything in the shop. There was also a living dog and bearded dragon there that they let me pet. The plants are always healthy and beautiful, which isn't always easy to find in specialty spaces like this. The oddities themselves are high quality and thoughtfully curated. It can seem a little expensive at first, but the quality absolutely makes it worth it. I bought a heteropteryx bug today and it's stunning. Every visit makes me want more. My long-term goal is to fill my biology classroom with pieces like this, and this shop is pure inspiration. If you love natural history, oddities, or beautifully curated weird things, this place is a must. I love it here.

I purchased or won several over the years, at times paying more than an actual mount would cost, and have always had trouble getting the mounts in anyone's definition of a timely matter. I think the fastest I've ever got a mount was over 2 years. I realize they don't make cash off my DU contributions, but they signed up for that, they get the press, it's like paying for advertising. Great Basin has had two heads to mount, a mule deer buck and a bull elk. The deer they have had since 2006 and the elk since 2007. Anyone think that's long enough? I've been to the shop uncounted times and it's always another apology and a promise he'll get right on it. Joe is a really nice guy, but a horrible businessman. Take your business elsewhere!

After I downed my antelope buck in unit 015 I prepped him and hauled him into Reno. I texted Mike just before getting into the Reno city limits. Mike was quick to respond and provided the address to his shop. After 90 days, Mike texted me and advised my buck was ready! He even shared pictures. It was very easy with my busy work schedule to deal with Paquin's Taxidermy. I highly recommend Mike at Paquin's taxidermy. I'll be sending my incoming European mounts to only him. 5 stars.
