I had them do a dall sheep they were the Worst taxidermist I ever dealt with. I had an elk and a Oryx done at two different places in Mew Mexico and they turned out beautiful and pleasant and helpful people animal artistry sent my dall sheep in a crate by fed ex and the horn was cracked when I got it. I just got an elk from A different taxidermist and two gentlemen from Idahoe delivered it I hate the way my Dall sheep looks it took me two months before I even wanted to hang the Dall and he still looks like crap what a mistake using them. What a unique experience! Animal Artistry is a taxidermy business with an art gallery attached. They animals shipped in from all over the world. They do tours of their production floor so you can see each step of the taxidermy process. They made accommodations for my handicapped mom, who is wheelchair bound so she too could enjoy the back viewing. They do exceptional taxidermy work and the art gallery is equally as wonderful. Terrible experience. Anyone considering taking your animal to this business, please take the time to read. In August of this past year (2023), I had the pleasure to experience my first big game/antelope hunt in the West. Being from the Midwest, and not doing much hunting growing up other than small game, this was a very fun time with my two brothers. We spent seven days glassing, stalking, and FITFO'ing (figuring it the f*ck out). Long story short, I got my first western big game animal on that seventh day. We quartered the animal up in UNDER 1hr, on a new tarp, with a pop up tent for shade. We had the meat and more importantly the cape on fresh ice in YETI coolers in under 1.5hrs. On the drive back to the Reno area, immediately after putting the cape/meat on ice, I decided to get a shoulder mount and wanted it done by this, what I thought, was a professional business. The next morning I drove to this joke of a business and spoke to Stewart. We went over pricing and how I wanted the mount to look. I decided and that was that. I was told 120 days and I thought "perfect! It's 125 days until my birthday!" and I thought I would get an early birthday present for myself, this was not the case. Went about my business and waited for the next 110 days. I stop into this poor excuse of a business to see how the mount was coming or if it's potentially done. Because, I DID NOT received any contact with them in those 3.5 months. Stewart tells me a work order was never put in and he would check the back warehouse. He finds my horns of the antelope in a back room of the warehouse. He assures me they'll get it started right away and it would be done in 2-3 weeks (from 120 days to 2-3 weeks? Funny how that works). I leave and I thought that's that I'm still getting my animal, that was not the case He calls me about an hour later, he left a voicemail saying that my cape did not survive the tanning process. This was because "a great amount of bacteria was built up on the cape, a considerable amount of dirt and fecal matter as well". He then said they could put a new cape on, free of charge. Remember how we had the cape on fresh ice (in YETI coolers) within 1.5hrs and dropped off at this sh*tty business within the next 13 hours? Bacteria??? Oh, blow me Animal Artistry you c*cksuckers, blowing smoke up my a**. I suspect they left my antelope cape in the game bag I dropped it off in, kicked it in the corner, and left it in their ware house in the end of August in the desert for weeks. I wonder how a "great deal of bacteria" could've built up. Stewart tells me that they emailed me tell me all this information back in September of 2023. Nothing in my e-mails, voicemails, texts messages, NOTHING. They threw my cape away didn't contact me and I had to go in to find this out. I have a feeling I would have NEVER been contacted about it if I didn't go in and talk to someone on how the process was going. I wanted what was left of my animal back. They were quick to give me a refund of my initial deposit ($500+) and the horns of my antelope. !!!DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE OR GIVE ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS TO THIS AWFUL PLACE, THIS MAY HAPPEN TO YOU!!! read more

Full disclosure: We wandered into this place thinking it is an art gallery of metal animal sculptures...which it actually is; but what we didn't know is that their main business is Taxidermy Services, whose workshop is in the same building that houses the metal animal sculptures. I know nothing about taxidermy but I can tell you these projects they are currently working on show animals as they might appear in nature--so much more beautiful than the typical lone trophy head one so commonly sees. The Art of the Animal Gallery in Reno is a hidden artisan's gem located by the airport on the corner of Vassar and Terminal. If you see the animal bronzes out front, you will know you are in the right place. I don't think people even know it is there but drive by it all the time. It is a wonderful, quiet space with three rooms of paintings, bronze sculptures, animal-themed novelties and taxidermy. You can lose track of time in this place just perusing the rooms. If you like outdoor landscapes and animal artwork, check it out! The gallery mainly features the sculptures and paintings of late, local artist, Mike Boyce, but other artists are displayed as well. The staff is friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you have, and they will also just let you simply enjoy the venue. read more
