Tony and his team have shown to be experts over the years that my father and I have gone to his shop for service. Timeliness of service has been great, and the costs of services have been pretty fair compared to other shops. I have not had to return to Precision for service follow-up, I can drive off confident that I won't have to return unless a new issue comes up. read more

I recommend calling in before visiting to save your time! I called in on a Tuesday afternoon and one of the workers let me know I could come in right away. I came in to do a Smog Check + Oil Change and it took less than 30 minutes to do! It was an easy and fast process! If you look up online, you can find a few deals to show the workers to get the best value. BTW, they do a 3% charge if you use your credit card! read more

Precision Tune Auto Care - Sitting area - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Santa Clara, California

My issue with Bassi at Precision Tune is... we took my sons car there for a light and brake inspection. The car was pulled in and the back lens covers (which are tinted) were clearly visible. He charged me $180 to do the inspection and said it failed because of the tinted lenses. I said, "you could have told me before you took my money" and he said "this is how I get my business". An up front business would say, "before I take your money, know that this car will not pass". But he is not an up front business. We argued. I felt scammed. He said he wished he never sees me again. That's okay. I give 1 star because I am not going to try to pull my payment. Let my lesson be your benefit. read more

Horrible service, drove 30 minutes because they agreed to do brake and light. When I show up they said no because it was commercial. So he started arguing saying it's not his job to know if it's a commercial car or not. As a shop owner you should ask there is your business and not just say yes come over and then refuse the work read more

Needed to get my car smogged. Went there w/o an appointment. The person told me about 40 mins, at which it was a bit earlier. When he took my car, it was pretty straightforward. The job was done, and i had no issues with it. The person (Who i THINK is the owner), was a nice guy, cordial, friendly and we had a couple laughs. They take Cash, CC, and Venmo. Pricing was fair, so can't complain and i got my smog done. As always- plan ahead and schedule an appointment when you can, save yourself some time. read more

Lesson is.. call around! Not every place charges the same! I left happy and satisfied. read more

Super honest shop! I called for a quote after taking my car to the dealership for routine service and came back to say one of my sensors needed to be replaced & supposedly it wasn't covered under my warranty. The gentleman over the phone at Precision Auto not only beat their price significantly but also encouraged me to pursue the warranty for my car since I had purchased it brand new and it was still very low miles. I called ford corporate who honored the repairs after all and communicated with the dealership for me. Thank you! I definitely will be taking my other cars to this Precision Auto for service going forward, just based on their honesty !! read more

Only spot in the Santa Clara area to do brake and lamp inspections required by CA DMV to revive salvage cars. After calling around shops places, I was told that many places in the area are no longer certified for the inspections. In fact, most of the spots I called didn't even answer the phone. Precision Tune answered every time with the many questions I had! Inspections are first come, first serve so you don't need an appointment. Came in around noon on a Saturday and there was no wait! Service took about 30 mins. They were very thorough and even gave me an honest update on the wear of my brakes. If you're looking for a place to get your brake and lamp inspected, visit Precision! They also offer oil change services and smog checks. read more

This is a great place to get routine maintenance and car repairs done. I've been going here for over 20 years. They've had numerous opportunities to sell me repairs I didn't need over those years, yet they didn't. On a couple of occasions, when I thought something was wrong, they'd diagnose and tell me there was nothing really wrong and send me away charging me only a minor inspection fee. The repairs are almost always done the same day if I get it to them in the morning, and for general maintenance stuff like oil changes, often done within an hour. And since there are several restaurants nearby, you can drop it off, go have breakfast or lunch and your vehicle will be ready when you are done. The owner or manager is a very friendly fellow too. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - DO NOT COME HERE FOR A SMOG CHECK! Went here a couple weeks ago, found a coupon for a smog check in the Pennysaver, saw a couple positive reviews on Yelp for the smog check service and thought it couldn't hurt. BIG MISTAKE. Got there, the guy knew NOTHING about cars, tried BSing me about random things. Told me my car was "loud" and failed my car's smog check due to a "broken hose connected to the muffler under the hood." No joke. Since when were mufflers under the hood? The "broken hose" was seriously a crack in the FOAM insulation around a WIRE connected to the battery. And the muffler is not attached to my spark plugs, you scamming scumbags! I looked at the failed smog check sheet and my car passed everything except "other" which wasn't even specified... it amazes me that people can get away with this sort of dishonesty. Then this guy started telling me about how I needed to change my entire exhaust system because you can't change one hose (which yes, we have established, was insulated wire - the wire was fully intact) and that this would cost me upwards of 800+ dollars. On my way out, I saw a yellowbook-sized stack of "failed smog checks" beside the counter... suspicious. Luckily, I called my honest, regular mechanic, who referred me to a more expensive, but HONEST smog test station. Better to pay the $50 and know you're dealing with honest people than flush $30 down the toilet with people trying to shove an $800 repair down your throat. These coupons in the mail are bait for unassuming customers, beware and STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! read more

Two Stars for dishonesty. "Free inspection!" they said. "We'll take care of you!" they said. "Your axle needs replacing! You shouldn't drive on it!" they said. They should've tossed in a free snake oil change for a bargain $25.oo... Yes, I'm not a car guy so I paid $x00.oo. My mechanically inclined co-worker was like, "The axle is arguably the strongest part in your car..." Why not One Star? Because they made good on their promise to "take good care of me." Fool me once, collect hundreds of dollars... Fool me twice, get Three Stars for mad dishonesty skillz. read more

These guys are straight up crooks! My service engine light was on and I knew it had something to do with my gas cap or tank. They call me and tell me it will be $1100 to replace the entire gas tank because of a "hole" in the tank. I asked to see this "hole" it was not a hole but a lose part. Long story short they got $70 out of me to give me a bs quote on work my car didn't even need. Stay away from this place they are very dishonest! read more

After reading so many negative reviews of this business, I was very hesitant to bring my car in for a smog check. After stopping by two other places on the El Camino in Santa Clara, which were open but no employees to be found, I stopped here. I walked in and was immediately greeted. I asked and was told that a smog check was $40. I was told that it would take about 20 minutes to complete. I turned over my keys and they began the smog check. As I was reading the other reviews of this place on Yelp, I noticed an instant deal for a $35 smog check. I asked if they would honor this price and I was told that they would. Ten minutes later, my car was done. I paid the $35 and got the completed paperwork. Quick and painless!! I would recommend this business if you need a smog check. read more

If you've got it a diesel pick up save your time. They just told me it would be two hours and $200 to change the oil. When I ask why they said it was because they didn't stock filters and oil. This would make sense if the parts house was more than a block away. It's not. I have six cars and I've always brought them to these guys. I won't anymore. Disappointing! read more

I'm going to tell you a story. It's a short story, but it's a true story. It's a story you may not believe. And I can understand that, because I still don't quite believe it myself. Went to Precision Tune today, on the advice of The Boyfriend. I needed to get the putt putt smogged. Arrived around 12:30 and was informed that there was one car ahead of me which was cool since I was hungry and Dennys was right next door. Noticed while I was checking into Dennys that Precision Tune offered a smog check if you checked in there for what I thought said $35.00, as compared to their published price of $50.00. Yay me. Fifteen bucks is fifteen bucks. My car was ready even before I'd finished my rather horrible breakfast. With all the coffee available in the world today, why does Denny's have to serve such slop? I digress ... Anyway, back I went to get my car and asked if I could use the Yelp check in. "No problem," said the friendly guy behind the counter. So I checked in but didn't get any kind of code or anything from Yelp to give the service guy. We tried to puzzle it out for a few minutes until he finally said not to worry about it, if it turned out to be a problem he had my phone number and he'd call me. Then he rang me up and gave me my receipt to sign. $8.25. Yes. Seriously. I'm not lying. The End. read more
