A simple oil change for my son's Mini Cooper became increasingly complicated when two Jiffy Lubes turned us away. The turbo engine sitting on top of the oil filter made it difficult to access. Vanik is a unicorn! It always feels like you are bringing your car to a trusted (and smart) family member. This is maybe my 10th time going and he always gives an honest opinion- which often doesn't benefit him. One of the last times I brought my car in, the AC condenser was broken. He said he can fix it, but it would probably be in my best interest to go to Mini and insist they fix it even though it's not under warrantee anymore - since it's not a part that should be breaking on a 5 year old car. Don't panic, just call Vanik!!! Vanik is absolutely amazing! I was going to Bob Smith even after my warranty expired, but I was quickly noticing that I may be paying for more than what was actually needed. I mean a BMW is a finely tuned machine but I don't think it's thousands of dollars per year tuned. Bob Smith SA's were telling me that my squeaky suspension was a sign of leaky shocks and bad bushings. They recommended $1600 worth of new shocks, bushings, and alignment. I decided to get a second opinion and I called Vanik. I brought my car in and he drove it around the block with me. He then explained that this particular model 2009 328i tends to make a little noise around the 100,000 mile mark. He offered to inspect my suspension while he was performing my regular services. The regular services, btw, were very affordable. The next day, I brought my BMW in for the services. At 12 noon, Vanik called me to let me know he finished the regular services (3 hours). He changed my oil, spark plugs, brake fluid flush, air filter, cabin filter, and differential service. He informed me that he checked the suspension and saw nothing out of the ordinary and advised that I should not worry about it at this time. He said he will continue to check it at each oil change and let me know when and if it needs repairs. He also let me know to keep checking my belt and front brakes. I drove off and my car feels so much better than when I brought it in. Maybe psychological but at least I have peace of mind and no holes in my pockets.
