They were able to get me in and were also really mindful of timing. A part ended up being unavailable and they had to get from dealer instead, even so, I really appreciated how they handled the communication in transparency, and it was actually still comparable / cheaper than other places I checked. To top it off, they noticed my key battery was dead and changed it without me asking. This is a follow-up to a review I posted a couple of days ago. After further investigation and reviewing other people's experiences with this location, I revisited my invoice from April. I discovered that I was charged well over $2400, not $1200, with more than half of that amount being for labor. This morning, Tommy (the owner I guess) called me three times back to back this morning) trying to discuss their labor charges. At this point, I don't trust their explanations regarding how they calculate labor costs. Moving forward, I will definitely seek a second opinion for any car issues, especially living in Los Angeles where we rely heavily on our cars. It's easy to feel desperate or rushed to resolve car issues, but it's important to ensure you're not being overcharged. Please see the pictures below for reference. Dishonest Practices Start at the Top - Be Cautious Let me be clear: if you have a flat tire that's repairable, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. This shop charged me $45-$50 just to patch a flat -- far above the typical rate, and much more than what many tire shops charge (some even do it for free). But the pricing is only part of the issue. I was told I had three nails between both rear tires. Later that same day, one tire began losing air again. I took it to Costco, where they showed me that only one puncture had been patched. There was no sign of any other repairs. So where were the other two nails they claimed I had? When I called the shop, I was told to speak to David, the manager -- a name I recognized from 20 years ago when he was already involved at this location. Even back then, I experienced similar issues with hidden fees and questionable add-ons (small screws, gaskets, etc.). Confront him, and he might walk back the charges -- but the fact that they're added in the first place says a lot. Unfortunately, it seems nothing has changed over the years. The culture of dishonesty appears to start with David himself and trickles down through the business. There's no transparency, no written estimate, no receipt -- just verbal pricing, which violates Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) guidelines. This review isn't just about being overcharged for a simple repair -- it's about the ethics and character of the people running this shop. Be cautious. Ask questions. Get everything in writing. This place is such a SCAM. I took my car in for new brakes and tires towards the end of 2023. All in all I got new brakes and rotors (front and back) new tires, alignment, new struts and shock absorbers; the whole thing cost me around $5,000. It's now a year later and the brakes have never stopped squeaking. They sound like they're in major need of some W-40. I've taken the car back twice now, to no avail. For $5K, the least BIG O Tires could do is give me breaks that don't squeak. Cheap parts, overpriced labor and subpar work. No thanks. **to Evan's comment below - sir, since you're speaking of being fair- add to that amount what I spent the next two times when your shop "needed to fix those other things" and it's just shy of $5K. I came in today on Christmas Eve because I had a flat tire and I inflated my tire with my portable inflator to make it to the shop and they were able to check my car immediately and found that it had a nail and were able to patch it and I was in and out of there in 15 to 20 minutes. I walked in to ask about getting an oil change. A Middle Eastern manager (Tommy) of the location told me that they don't do oil changes and looked at me in a strange way. As I was walking back to my car, I can clearly see on the side of their business advertised oil changes. I go back inside and find a different Employee and ask them What kind of services they do and if they include oil changes and he said yeah man, we do everything here. I was charged $45 to fix a flat tire! That is highway robbery! Especially since there are other places that would repair the flat for free. In addition, they didn't fill the tire with the correct pressure and didn't reset the warning light. I do not recommend this establishment. read more

Big O Tires was willing to work with me on the cost which is why they got my business. They had the tires I needed in stock, advised me on my brakes and applied relevant coupons to help me get the best deal. I had quite a bit of work done and Tommy, my service manager was very polite and responsive. I dropped my car off, ran errand and picked it up a few hours later. It drives like a brand new car now. I wish I didn't have to write this review; however, I had a lousy experience yesterday. I have used this tire shop many many times in the last almost 10 years. It has always been a good experience. Not always the cheapest, but good service. Yesterday was different and unfortunately, I will not be back - lots of tire places in the Valley. I should have known based on all the new faces at the location meaning, the people I had dealt with before were long gone. I called them yesterday morning to inquire about getting a specific tire replaced. I had the exact size, model, speed rating, etc., all of which I provided to the person I spoke with on the phone. I was quoted a price that seemed like a good deal and accordingly, I told the salesperson I would bring my car in to have the tire replaced. When I arrived, all of the technicians were at lunch, which was no big deal. I left the car and went to grab something to eat. About 15 min later, I got a call from the manager saying that there was a "miscommunication," and that they quoted me a price for a used tire. Further, that a new tire would be almost double the price, and that they actually didn't even have the tire I wanted (in new condition). Instead, they offered to sell me two new tires, which were not the same ones I requested in the first place. I walked back to the shop and spoke with the manager. They had no explanation for the issue other than it was a "miscommunication." We discussed the issue, and I showed him a screenshot from Walmart for the tire I wanted which was almost $150 cheaper then what Big O was charging. I asked if they would match the price, especially in light of the "miscommunication." The manager refused, and said he couldn't get the tire at that price (even though, apparently, I can get that price simply by placing an order with Walmart). Doesn't make sense to me, but ok. In any event, I raised these issues with the manager and said, basically, unless we can work something out, that they would be losing my business. Without even a hint of remorse or apology, the manager stuck out his hand and said, "sorry to lose your business." I hate to think it, but this seems like a classic case of bait and switch. They quoted me a good price on the phone and then, when I got there, they said, "oops, we made a mistake, but don't worry, we can sell you something else, its just going to cost you more." I even asked if they had the tire I wanted in stock, and they said "no." Even more frustrating was the fact they basically didn't care at all about losing my business. This only supports my belief that they tried to rip me off. As I said before, lots of tire shops nearby. If I have to order the tire myself and then get it installed by another shop, so be it. AVOID BIG O tires. I can take lots of things, but when it comes to cars / mechanics, dishonesty is the worst. Too bad, because this used to be a reputable shop. read more

I came in for a flat. I have decent tire on there. All 5 of my tires installed was 500. I ended up paying $183 dollars... for one tire!! A 20 minute job and no prorating of labor. It was before close and they totally took advantage of my situation. I asked about alternative tires in stock for cheaper and he refused to even acknowledge me and just said that those are all they had in stock. The minute the main guy found out I knew about cars he avoided me. I ended up calling a different Big O and they quoted me over the phone a price a price nearly 50% of what I paid. They were also able to confirm that the location I am at had multiple tires in stock that were far cheLast time I ever go to a Big O and definitely not going to this one. Also, with a $125 per hour rate for labor, that alone is worth it to avoid. Plenty of other shops in LA at 90 or less that won't rob you. read more

RIPOFF CON-ARTISTS 3/22 had oil change & tires rotated told me I needed all 4 brakes replaced + other $$$ brake repairs. All 4 brakes had been replaced a month before, by reliable longtime mechanic. Had my regular mechanic re-check day of Big O Tires service. One month later, a wheel part which Big O had misplaced inside wheel caused $588 damage. No compensation from Big O. read more

With machines, you can never be sure but felt like they made unnecessary recommendations. In particular, wheel rebalancing when there was no odd vibration or excessive tear (other than some light wear on the outer edge of the tire which can happen from cornering too hard). They also left some small scratches on the wheel well which they said was 'normal.' They could have been avoided if they were more careful, pried from the inside of the wheel well vs outside, and just generally done the job with more concern/effort. I should have known better, I was just there for an oil change and up-selling is a big part of these shops practice. It wasn't a lot of money, but it wasn't necessary. The money they charged served as a valuable lesson to me now... I wouldn't go back. read more

Just wanted to say this is by far the best place that i have been to fix my car . I found these guys right after i had a awful experience at firestone so i googled them and once i came in they were so nice and welcoming . The manager mario helped me out and answered all of my questions He even made my my day since it was my birthday... he has really good costumer service skills, now a days you cant find that anywhere but he has it .. they were fast only took 40 mins to get a tire . AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS Had my car taken in for a low tire and ended up being scammed out of over $900. They found a nail in the tire and claimed the brake pads "were almost metal on metal" and needed to be taken care of. In a state of concern, the brake pads were changed but after further thinking about it, something didn't feel right and I asked them to give me my old break pads back in which I ended up taking to Toyota the following Saturday to have evaluated. They confirmed that the front brake pads were basically brand new and while the back were starting to show signs of wear, they still had AT LEAST 10-15k miles left before they needed to be replaced. I decided to call them back up and explain to him what was confirmed but instead of admitting fault and an inaccurate assessment, he claimed that they use a different measuring system than the dealerships and that it was just his recommendation. He then continued to argue Toyota's assessment, claiming that he couldn't understand how a dealership (that has serviced my car for OVER 5 years) could give me an estimated mileage without knowing my driving habits. Save yourself the time, the headache, and money and go to any other tire shop on the planet. read more

Is it wrong to have a tire place on speed dial? Lol We've been coming here for years. Small business, they really care about the community they are in and are always friendly, fair and honest. Service is very prompt and they always give you an estimated timeframe to manage your expectations. AAA has dropped off my car afterhours and they immediately call me when the shop opens to let me know they have the car in their possession and will work on it ASAP. Peace of mind. Their tire protection plan feels pricey on the outset, but I can't tell you how much it has saved us in the long term. I brought my new purchase in for a new set of tires and I had to come back FOUR times to get the fit right and correct a problem from the previous owner. This did not deter Dave! Dishonest, tries to trick customers into unnecessary repairs. I came in for new front tires, and the guys claim I also need rear brakes and rear alignment for a whopping $650. First red flag, why are they looking at the back of the car, when they should be looking at the front tires? I had just had an oil change at another Big 0 tires in Glendale (they're honest) and they had nothing to say about my brakes or rear alignment needing work. So I take my car to my regular mechanic and a $40 brake inspection later confirms these guys rip off customers. SCAMMERS 0 STARS Yesterday on my drive to work. My tire light went off and it was a little flat. I took it to get a tire fixed because it was the closest shop I could find. They said give me 30 minutes and I will call you back with what needs to be done. I walked to work. 20 minutes later they called me saying the car just needed a patch on the tire, but that my brake pads were extremely bad and needed to be replaced. They also said my tires were almost bald and needed tires. I asked them to please just fix my tire because I needed my car. They said OK it'll be ready in 15 minutes so I walked back to the tire shop paid $35 to the gentleman who also told me as soon as I start to drive my car, the tire light will go off. I drove around for a little bit and the light was still on so I stopped at a gas station to fill my tire that only had 17 psi's on it to the Psi that is supposed to be at. On the drive home. The light went on again. This morning I wake up and my car is sitting on its rim with no air in it at all. I called big O tires to tell them what happened and they "" said maybe we missed something "" I gave them the benefit of the doubt but I live 45 minutes from the tire shop so I took it to American tires who does not charge to repair a flat and they also told me there was not a single patch on that tire and that my tire had a nail in it. They also said my tires are OK and I don't need new ones yet and my brake pads are completely fine. I cannot believe they took advantage of me and scammed me out of money, tried to get more money out of me with unnecessary work, and put my family in danger including my one and a half year old daughter by letting me drive my car the way it was. I came 36 minutes before closing and I was Told by Tommy Asian guy just saying that just in case he gave me the wrong name. He told me he can't check my ties out cause they are closing at 6pm and it was 525 when I got here. So much for a returning customer that has warranty on his tires here.
