Called them because a garage door was intermittently having trouble closing and I agreed to the $49 diagnostic fee, half of which would be waived if I had any work done. Scheduling and rescheduling was easy, and technician did show up in the time frame. Also, the door does seem to be fixed for now. The bad: The technician did a very poor job of explaining what was wrong and what needed fixing. I was on the phone with him while the lady of the house was at the home. I couldn't tell why he wanted to charge $225 for a sensor adjustment or $750 for a new motor. To put this in context, at Home depot, you can buy a brand new motor for $150 to $200 and they install it for around $100 to $150. So I called Precision door service directly and they checked with the technician and called me back and explained to me that my options were to get a sensor adjustment and motor force adjustment or replace the whole motor. I asked about the price and was told that I'd have to talk to the technician about that. I called the technician back and told him not to do anything and he basically yelled at me that he'd already completed his repair and had already left. As far as I can tell, no parts were replaced. Only about half of what is written on the receipt is legible, and I was charged $225 for less than 45 minutes of him being there from start to finish. read more

We called Precision Door about two months ago when our garage door wouldn't open anymore and they sent out Josh to help fix it. He was extremely nice and explained all of the parts to a garage door before offering different options to fix it. After agreeing on changing the parts, Josh went straight to work and installed everything. He was very professional and courteous the entire time. About a month later, our door was once again stuck and won't open. This time they sent out Blake who came out and inspected out door again. ****BEWARE***** They are the biggest scams in the world. I had them come to the house because my garage door wasn't operating correctly. They had a service call for $49.95. If I moved forward with the work they suggested, they wouldn't charge me the s/c. The guy looked at the door, rollers and garage door motor (3 minutes max) and told me that I needed the following: new rollers, new pins. He stated that the real problem was the motor. My total bill to correct everything was around $900.00. I told him he was a scam and removed him immediately from my home. I called Door mart garage door at 1.800..829.9833 the following morning. All I needed was to have a few adjustments to the overall power and I didn't need to replace the rollers, pins or motor and my total bill was $106.75. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Will try to be fair here... Had 2 broken springs on my garage door, called Precision, they told me on the phone it would be $320 for the repair. Set an appointment and they said the tech would call when he was on the way. About an hour later the tech showed up (no phone call, but in the time they said he would arrive). He looked at the 2 broken spring and a loose hinge and said the door needed an overhaul, $987. My senses told me this was just wrong and I sent the tech packing. It just felt like he was padding the bill to pad his pocket.... I called the Door Doctor in Pleasanton, they came out and replaced the door springs, tightened the hinge, adjusted the garage door opener. All for less than the original $320 quote from Precision. My mom and dad recently had a problem with the garage door at their home and could not get the car out. Since it was afternoon they thought it would be difficult to get someone to come same day. They called Precision Door Service and the very polite, friendly staff assured them that someone from their repair department would come out that day. Later in the day an office member called to say it would be a little longer then they thought due to a difficult repair they were currently working on BUT, that the repairman would definitely be out there same day - just a little later than first anticipated. My mother and father commented on how polite and thoughtful it was that the company would call. It was early evening when Mike Rodgers arrived and came to my parents aide. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy. Everything needed to make the repair was in his truck and he quickly completed the repair. In addition he checked the other garage doors. He was professional, took time to explain the process, always kept me updated on his progress, knowledgable about the Marantec opener I requested, quality of work was excellent and cleaned up after the job was completed. Call Precision with full confidence - we called when our electric motor burned out - they gave an estimated time of arrival, followed by a 30 minute heads up call. Tech, Armando, arrived on time, explained our problem, offered options, we accepted one, then he proceeded to work like a surgeon to install a new motor and all attendant rails, chains, and hardware. Took about 1 hour - the door now works so silently, it is hard to know it is opening or closing. I am sure all their techs are all outstanding, but Armando was courteous, thorough, and exacting in his work. As a special bonus, the CEO of the company leaves his e mail address if any questions come up - we did have a couple regarding their excellent warranty, which was answered quickly by their district general manager. Excellent service! I called on Saturday night for a garage door that would not open or close and had an appointment for Sunday morning. James called to let us know when he was arriving, and then advised us on our options for a busted garage door, and then spent several hours fixing it so it worked better than before he came, improvising to make all the parts work with our 30 year old garage door (which he advised we keep, since it's wooden!). Really impressed with their response time. I called very late on a Monday and they were able to schedule something for the very next day. The time range was pretty large (12 - 4:30), but that's okay. They said the technician would call ahead when he was on his way. Well, I left work early (~12:30) so I would be home during most of the time window (I live 5-10 minutes away from work). When I arrived the dude was already there! So much for the call-ahead, but fortuitous timing on my part. He took a quick look and declared that the motor was overheating and needed replacing. Okay, I balked at the quote. $750! I was left with a pretty crappy choice - pay the money and get everything replaced or pay $50 for 15 minutes of this guy's time. I opted to pay the man and walk away. Maybe I'm naive to the garage door repair industry, but those prices seem really out of whack. Having a mandatory service fee for quotes and estimates seems really unfair too. EDIT: Since posting this review, Precision Door Services got in contact with me and offered to make things right. I told them I wanted to do some research, but I would consider coming back to them if other estimates are within range. Overall, I appreciate the willingness to make the customer happy. read more

Well, I'm 80% sure he was racist. And 100% sure he was simply unwilling to look at my garage door and not in a good mood. I called the phone number to get someone out to look at my garage door, which is a Liftmaster. Liftmaster/Chamberlain suggests Precision Door Service in our area so I called. Guy comes in, we go to see the garage, and after two seconds says "you popped the cover so it's not under warranty." But... I didn't ask for a warranty. Horrible and unprofessional service!! We called Precision regarding a garage door problem. The technician recommended that changing the rollers will solve the problem. The job was done in 45 minutes but charged $ 279 which is a super markup for this job. Unfortunately the problem persisted so we called the company again. The company gave us the time of 8.00-10.00 am but nobody showed up until 9.45. The technician then calls to say that he is running late and will be at home between 11.30-12.30. When I contacted the company at 12.30, they made up the story that the appt was cancelled. When the torsion spring on our two car garage door cracked in half the garage door was closed and we were upstairs in our town home. It must have just worn out with age. It let off such a loud BOOM it sounded like an earthquake in our garage. We went down to see what it was but couldn't figure out what caused the sound. When we tried to use the door later that night we eventually figured out that the spring had broken. We picked Precision Garage Doors because their website looked so professional. I called them in the morning and they scheduled us for 6:30pm that day. Hector was the technician they sent. He was going to be running late and called to let us know he would be late but would definitely show up same day. When he arrived he explained our repair options and then fixed the broken spring quickly. He took the time to lube the door tracks while I got our landlord on the phone to give his credit card info for payment. Hector handled our somewhat unusual payment method with the same ease he repaired the door. The entire experience with Precision was smooth, fast, friendly and easy. I did not write a review for our first visit however I give the that visit a 2 star as the original person that was supposed to repair our door did not show up and instead we had a Jeff S. service our door. **Revised Review** I did not have a good experience initially with my service call. However, the owner personally called me to listen to what I have to say. Listening and attempting to understand is a part of good customer service. I felt heard, and I truly appreciated that. Although my experience can't be changed, he did his best to try to rectify the situation after the fact. Because of that, I changed my rating from one star to four stars for effort. Initially, my garage door opener was making a beeping noise. The panel displayed that the battery was bad and needed replacing. I reviewed my owner's manual and confirmed that the issue was the battery. The technician came on time. I was only expecting to replace my battery, but their was an added service that I wasn't aware of on the quote. My advice when reviewing the quote: understand what work you are being charged for. There might be a maintenance work that they are recommending (which might be a good idea to do). Just know that it's an option and not a necessity. read more

Called/left emails at 3 places, Precision Door Service was the only one that got back to me within 15 minutes after sending an email to them! Spoke to the owner of the company and he was very polite and was able to answer all my questions on the phone. My availability was limited, he was able to accommodate my request for a tech to come out on Sunday. The tech contacted me, Chad, within the time quoted and after explaining the issues with the door wrote up a some options with prices and explained it all in detail to my wife and I. During this process we never felt pressured and Chad was excellent answering our questions. Both my wife and I decided we were very pleased with just the overall service, we made the decision to replace not only one side but both sides with new belt drive motor openers. Chad was able to do the job right onsite, no re-scheduling involved. I don't normally write reviews when I don't select a service, but I wanted to make an exception for Raynard Cayetano. He did an excellent job analyzing and quoting a new garage door for me. In fact, he did too good a job! The first person totally missed how compromised my header area was. It was easy to see it after Raynard pointed it out, however, and so I'm grateful I didn't go with that quote. Ultimately, I would have definitely gone with Precision Door as the best combination of price and quality of the 3 quotes I received, but they don't have anyone in-house that does re-framing. So rather than managing two separate contractors, I went with my second-choice company that could do all of this as one contract. read more

Hold on to your wallets boys and girls! Scheduled a Precision Garage Door "tech" to come out to assess my garage door that was out of alignment and would not open completely. When I made the appointment the dispatcher assured me they would call me 30 minutes before the service technician was to arrive as this is a rental property. The day of the appointment, I received a call informing me the technician was on site and they forgot to call me in advance because their "computer was broken". When the "technician" arrived, I received quote that a it would cost anywhere from $700 to $1000 to fix. He told me that he would have to remove the door, replace the springs at an hourly rate of $175 PER HOUR. I declined and paid the $49.95 "service call" fee. The whole ordeal lasted about 15 minutes. I felt I was totally being scammed. Called Econo-Doormasters and they said they could have a service tech out right away. The super nice tech assessed the problem in about 5 minutes immediately identifying the issue. He had the parts in his truck, did not need to remove the garage door, tightened bolts and lubricated the entire system all for $149 which took about 1/2 hour. Our garage door was closing intermittently and I saw that the wall bracket which attaches the door to the J arm of the opener was coming loose. I looked up garage door repair shops in my area and Precision Door caught my eye because of its diamond certification. I was a little apprehensive to commit my appointment due to some follow up reading of their low star reviews regarding upselling plus their service call fee. Admittedly, this was exactly my experience with the first technician they sent out. He showed up to my home at the end of the time allocation (4-8pm). He did give me a courtesy call ahead of time which was nice. Very polite but within the first 5 minutes of his inspection of my garage, he shared with me a laundry list of what was wrong with my door and gave me three options for repair ranging from $400-$1200. YIKES! Surprisingly, none of those repair items included the wall bracket I mentioned which seemed blatantly obvious to fix. I questioned the need for these repairs and pointed out the bracket but the sales side of him came out and my umcomfort level elevated. I felt very strongly at the time that I was being scammed and upsold just like the previous low star reviews I read. I unwillingly agreeed to the lowest option and he completed his work within 30 minutes. I had to rate experience just off the first technician, I would give it 1 star. Fast forward to the next night...I closed the garage and the bracket he "fixed" came unhinged and the door had trouble closing. Suffice to say my frustration rose and I called the company to have someone sent out immediately. The call service agents I spoke to were polite and empathetic. Insert JAMES! He is one of the major reasons for the 5 star review. The other reason is the call service agents which deserve the same rating. James came in knowledgeable about what my issues were and went straight to work. His soft skills were great - polite, friendly, and simply wanted to make the issue right...no fuss!
