I called up precision on a Monday morning and had a technician out that night to do a door alignment. Paul was assigned to our job and he was great. He was on time, easy to deal with and a straight shooter. Our door was pretty misaligned so he took his time assessing the job to provide a quote for us. We decided on the spot to go ahead with the work. We let him do this thing and when he was done, we examined the job together and paid on the spot. Couldn't have been easier and man did he fix that mess of a gap we had. Highly recommend precision for any garage door needs! read more

My story is divided in two parts: 1. The installation and 2. The correction. My need for service began when to my dismay I discovered that my wooden door collapsed. Upon calling Precision Door Service I found out that I needed to wait a week for the earliest appointment, though it was urgent that I get a door replacement ASAP as garage contents would remain exposed. So, I boarded it up as best as possible. The next morning, I ordered a door with the help of Mike Munoz, who skillfully guided me through what seemed an endless number of choices. I got the door I wanted, and with his help he got the installation moved up one week. 1 week later, Luigi Lopez did a super installation job. While I removed nails from the old wooden door, he smoothly and efficiently went about his business. Within 90 minutes he had the job done without a hitch. Five days later Luigi was back on the scene after I called Precision Door Service once again. This time because the door was stuck 3 feet of the ground. I called the office at 5 PM on a Monday, explained my dilemma to Candace that I could not leave my tools and other items to be stolen and needed assistance urgently, once again. To my great surprise 90 minutes later I got a call from Pat, the owner of the company. He listened to how upset I was, and he said he would get a technician to contact the next morning. Again, I did my best to protect my garage possessions. To my great surprise, the very next morning Luigi Lopez came to the rescue. Literally, within no time he diagnosed and solved the problem. Minutes later he was on his way, having given me a tutorial on how to properly open and close the door without allowing the latch to lock inadvertently. Wow, did he make me a happy guy! Folks, if you want a door company that not only has staff that will help you select the door you want, but technicians who are thoroughly trained and professional in their work, office personnel who respond to customers in distress and an owner who takes a personal interest in the people he serves, then Precision Door Service is for you! read more

An unfortunate turn of events with this company. I initially called because they had great reviews and are a family owned business which I always try to support. We needed a new motor and a new garage door (a lot of money!), so they quickly sent someone out to measure and give us a quote. I wanted a modern, flat panel garage door. My options were steel or hardwood. They sent me a photo of what the cheaper, steel, option would look like. I approved and put down a deposit. They had this option in stock so they were able to install a couple days later, great! Then I went to go see it in person and it is not what I had expected and was not what I was shown. The material feels more like a vinyl and it has etchings in it to make it appear as "faux" wood which is certainly not what I was going for and looks cheap. I sat with it for a bit, but the more I looked at it, the more I did not like it and the more upset I was that I spent over $2k for it. I called the company and a manager called me back relatively quickly. He was not eager to suggest any remedy and all he could offer was a "sorry" and let me know that nothing could be done and became ruder as the conversation continued. Very unfortunate for a company to deliver a different product than told and to not come up with a solution. I definitely would have paid more money for a wood door had I known what this garage door would have looked like. read more

it's rare this day and age to get real service. James came to my house as promised (on the front end of the promised time frame) and even called to let me know he was close by. He showed up with all the parts, tools, and equipment necessary for the job, but even better, he showed up with the sunniest personality! He diagnosed what was going on ever so quickly and immediately got to work on the problems. Yes, there was more than one. James made sure he addressed everything on my list (new keypad, programmed remotes, etc.). And he did everything exceedingly well. I wish I could hire him for every service! Did I mention that I received same-day service?! Pinch me! This can't be happening. I am now a loyal customer of Precision Door Service. Look nowhere else: if you have any problem with your garage door/motor/sensors I would hire this company in a New York minute. To be clear, I have hired three other garage door service companies in the past couple years for a similar problem, and never before had I received this level of service. Thank you, James! I hope the company treats you well. You are an asset to them, and invaluable to me! read more

Brandon from Precision Door Services did an excellent job replacing my broken garage door spring. Upon arrival he inspected all supporting parts of the garage door. After his inspection, he suggested we replace the older supporting parts to help enhance the function of the new garage door springs. I can appreciate a technician who can articulate the advantages of an upgrade without becoming a salesman. In my opinion Brandon is a credit to himself, to the industry, and to Precision Door Services. read more

Had two very simple procedures done on doors. Total time under 1 hour. When I received invoice it showed two under quantity and build double the hourly rate. Bill shows quantity but also shows hourly rate of $90. Was told because it was two separate doors I was billed $90 twice although It was not 2 hours of labor. Seems sketchy. read more

We had Precision Garage Door out to look at a problem with our garage door - you may recognize the name from their commercials, and for some reason, suffering Covid Brain, I forgot that they did not install our garage doors. Regardless, Precision dropped by to check on an intermittent problem we are having with one of our doors - it's most likely a fatal problem with the motherboard, but thought we would have them out to check it out. He asked the usual questions - are you sure you are not causing the problem, how many openers do you have, then he looked at the unit and said its probably the motherboard. I said OK, what does that cost - but he interrupted, disconnected the door and then ran the opener, which glided nicely down its track and reconnected. "Yeah this is broken - do you see how that worked..." I was confused as it worked fine. Then he rattled the door and said the barrings were also shot, and also this spring is broken. None of these things are broken. Keep in mind the door goes up and down fine. He drew up an estimate for $2,000 to "fix all of the issues" with the door. The unit price online is only $350. His price was $700 plus installation. When he asked how many new remotes I wanted I said what are you talking about - I have four remotes. He said your remotes are old and don't work with the new same brand same product. The one he held in his hand was brand new BTW. I guess the old unit works by sending a radio signal through the air to the receiver on the unit, and the new one uses...magic. So let's recap this long post: 1. We probably need a new unit: $350 + installation - Precision price $700 + installation 2. Everything else works fine - Precision - everything about your door is broken $1,100 3. total costs - $1,800 On their commercial they say there is nothing more frightening that a broken garage door. I would say there is nothing more annoying that a company that preys on people, charges them for fixes that are not necessary and over charges for materials. So, I guess if you need some work done on your door - don't call Precision. read more

Just thought I would share my experience with people looking to have their garage door fixed. I have a condo garage door that has only one way in and that is through the garage door. My keypad broke and I was not able to get in the garage door and my car and garage door opener was stuck in the garage. I called Precision because all the commercials and to give them credit, the response time was good, (why I gave 2 stars instead of 1) but when the technician arrived he looked at the garage tried to manually open and said we need to replace your entire garage door for $3300. Then gave me the quote and left leaving everything the exact same, oh and I was charged $66 for him driving out to my house. Then I called Garage Door Pros in Pleasanton (for you Tri Valley people, use Garage Door Pros) and they had my garage door opened within an hour, and only charged $350, and gave me a 2nd garage door opener for free, and came out the same day. read more

Our garage door and associated hardware are from the late 70s, so an entire overhaul was needed on it. All of the bearings were shot throughout the system, the main tube running width-wise across the door was damaged, and the springs were of unknown age so I decided to replace them as well. A lot of parts to be sure, but the cost was astronomical: torsion springs: $175 each (x2) [typically sell for under $100 each] rollers for in the rails: $29 each (x12) [on the high side these are $10 each] cable drums: $196 pair (x1) [typically ~$60 each at most] torsion cables: $286 pair of 7ft long (x1) [wire cabling can be tricky depending on the loads you want to put through it, but even a 400 pound garage door is on the light side of what cables are designed to handle and so this charge is probably about 2X the actual cost] bearings for shaft on sides and center: $125 each (x3) [anywhere from $2-20 each depending on what you get] center bearing plate: $171 [this is the most offensive - literally a bent piece of galvanized 11ga sheet metal for $10 at most] main width-wise tube: $196 [no idea on this one - let's give them the benefit of the doubt] Maybe $700 worth of materials if you purchase these elsewhere and do it yourself. So the additional $1000 accounts for labor and markup. Ridiculous for a couple hours of work plus travel time. The guy that did the work was super nice and efficient. Not his fault that his company charges these prices, and the only reason this review isn't 1 star. read more

Unfortunately, my husband backed our car into our garage door as it was opening damaging the bottom two panels and completely moving it off of the tracks. The lady the answered the door at precision was very kind and sent someone to help us that day. I had a bad feeling about the technician when he arrived but he did fix the door (kind of) leaving it closed but inoperable. I thought he gave us an estimate for fixing the door but it was very odd. He seemed to be trying everything to add expenses even looking at the other two doors that were working fine and the motors for all three doors. I asked him several times if we could just replace the damaged panels and he always said no. Saying that they were going to be impossible to find and would end up costing the same. He seemed to be working off of commission since I never asked but he kept saying he wasn't. I thanked him for his help, he bullied me into putting a sticker up in our garage (saying that his bosses force him to ensure it's up) and he left. Then I contacted the company when no official estimate arrived. They told me that I had to schedule someone to come out and that he hadn't done any estimate. So we complied and had someone come out. Same conclusion, replace everything for at least one door but likely all three. On a whim because it didn't feel right, I quoted it on yelp. A nice gentleman wrote back to me along with others. I sent him a picture of the door panels. He told me he could order just the two panels and install them for less than one tenth the price Precision quoted. He has since installed them and they look and work PERFECTLY. They are an exact match and it was so easy. This company is out to take as much money from you as they can. Buyer beware, they will take advantage of you when something goes wrong. There are good companies out there. Try someone else. read more

We chose to use Precision Garage Door Repair to replace our broken garage door because they were listed in the Diamond Certified business listing. I would not recommend them because of the terrible service experience we had. They canceled our service appointment without informing me. I found out about this when I called them the day before to confirm my appointment. I was forced to reschedule at the last minute, rearranging my work schedule to do so. On the day of the service, we noted smudges and hand prints all over the newly replaced garage door. When we asked the service technician to clean them, he asked us to do it ourselves, as he did not have cleaning supplies with him. Later after he left, we noted over a dozen screws left on the floor of the garage and driveway. Fortunately no one stepped on them and our car did not get a flat tire when it went over one. I called to speak to their service supervisor, and at 3:30 pm on a weekday was told no one is available to listen to my concerns. The next morning I spoke with the supervisor and emailed him the photos below, and needless to say he sent the same technician back to clean up (after a halfhearted apology). Take your business elsewhere. We paid a premium price for appalling and potentially dangerous service, and I am surprised this business made it into the Diamond Certified listing. If your pizza came out with a hairball on it, you would do more than more than ask the pizza place to replace it. You would find it unacceptable and never eat there again, and warn others about the same. Here's your warning. read more

My Genie garage door motor was making a loud noise when the door was opening. It didn't take a genius to figure out that there was some issue with a sensor detecting when the motor should stop running when it reached a certain point. I called these guys, with the presumption that they would fix the issue. A guy came, he was nice enough. He mentioned that the problem was wIth the limit sensor. Showed me how I could fix it myself if I could find the parts. But here was the kicker - he wouldn't fix it. Didn't have the parts, nor did he attempt to take the thing apart and try and clean the sensor and maybe get it to work. Said that they don't repair things that they didn't install. Sure, if I spent $800 they could install a new motor for me. Well, what was the point of the service call then? To do an upsell? Sounds like they won't fix anything unless they installed it. So now I'm out $49.95 without any resolution... read more
