My over all summary is that I would not hesitate to call , or to recommend , Precision Door Fremont for any garage door, new install or a problem, as Precision Door Fremont was very responsive with techs and parts in trucks in my general area and can be dispatched (after or during normal hours) rather quickly, even at 9pm in the evening on the day before a holiday (July 4) .They may, or may not, be expensive but they do provide service for products and that is what I and others want...not delays or excuses to respond to find and fix a problem . I decided to replace my 32 yr old garage 2-door in February 2012 as the old hardware was continuously becoming loose and needing adjustment which was increasing difficult for me to perform and I feared the old opener was also at the end of life. I stumbled on Precision Door Fremont from a coupon mailer. Another company I used for past opener/springs repairs could not seem to respond so I called Precision Door who sent a guy in few hours and provided an estimate and arranged an install opener and door the next day. The install was done as scheduled and all debris hauled away. All worked well and all was happy for four months. In June after only 4 months the door periodically would not close and seemed to correlate with heat of day. It could be closed only with manual override. After few weeks of this periodic problem I called Precision and asked about a check out of the 'new ' door they installed 4 months earlier which did not work (close) periodically . The dispatcher scheduled a tech for the next day July 3 between 8 and 10am who arrived on time and called me when he was nearing. The door was operating normal so the tech could not isolate the problem but told me to call back when it was happening and trucks were generally near and someone could arrive to address problem. The tech did tell and show me the sensor lights to watch in the future and to see if they failed to light whenever the door was acting up. To my surprise( as I do not recall the dispatcher alerting me to a service charge but only that tech would decide if there were cost outside warranty) , I was asked to pay a $49.95 service call. I paid the tech as I realized Precision had costs even though the problem was not solved, just his advise to call when the problem was happening again and that someone could arrive to inspect. I was not happy but this seemed realistic and reasonable . In the late afternoon July 3 of the same day, the door failed to close again so I recalled Precision at 6pm. Dispatch said they could find a tech but it would be 'a while'. The sensor lights were off as pointed out to me earlier by the tech indicating one problem. I called back the dispatch at 8pm as no tech had arrived and dispatcher said the tech had issues with his job was still working there but she would find another if possible. At 9pm a different tech, the same one as the morning visit, arrived. The tech determined the sensors were indeed the problem but that the wiring from the opener was failing (shorting) somehow/somewhere. He replaced all the wiring and the 2 sensors and the door worked. He asked for the payment of sensor parts (80$), but no labor service call, as he could not establish my warranty terms. He reminded me the warranty does not cover sensors. I paid him as it made no sense to kill the messenger, the door was working and I could call the office the next day to discuss warranty. I called 2 days later, July 5, because of a next day holiday. The Fremont Precision Door operations manager (Mike) listened to the situation and my claim that issue was most likely faulty wiring and not the sensors, perhaps from the original wire install process or just a bad spot in original wire ...and not the sensors. My opinion was the faulty wire was causing the periodic problem after 4 months of original install. He had the techs paperwork and promptly agreed to refund all of my 2 charges for the two July 3 service calls, one at 9 to 10 pm in evening. He agreed t the issue appeared to under the category of 'workmanship' and I did not have to pay for the two service calls and parts...all 4 months after the original door install. Now that is service and company concern for a customer and product . This company will try to have YOUR bad reviews removed from Yelp. They claim to Yelp that you have reviewed the wrong location, never mind that they are operated as a chain. They had my unflattering review removed from several sites, including Yelp. Yelp removed the reviews claiming they violated the Content Guidelines. They'll try to have this one removed as well. But again, here's my review: We bought an Angie's List Deal of the Day for a basic garage door service and roller replacement for $49 or whatever it was. The tech was friendly enough at first, but there was a weird exchange over the order number. I didn't have an order number, and he felt I should have one because he didn't. All I had was the coupon, and the phone number I called to make the appointment. This seemed to annoy the technician, which, in turn, annoyed me. Not sure why I was responsible for pulling THEIR order number out of my butt. Aaanywhoooo, as my gal predicted, the tech up-sold us on new springs, which were pitched by the him as nearly an emergency necessity. His voice was loaded with that perfect blend of matter-of-factness and doubt. Most homeowners have had something resembling this conversation: "Well, sir, hmmmm. You COULD leave those old springs up there, I guess. But old springs put extra strain on the motor, and they could fail. Replace those springs, or you could be looking at a motor replacement... But I don't want to push you into anything - it's totally your choice." Slick. So, once we agreed to replace the springs (at an additional cost of 300-something-dollars) he removed the old springs and replaced them with shiny new ones. But once the old ones were down, they actually didn't look or feel so bad after all. From a $49 refresher for our (already working) garage door to a soul-crushing $349 unnecessary repair job. In the end, I honestly felt like I have felt after every carpet cleaning, refrigerator repair, stove repair, window cleaning, or car service, I have ever had done: I felt as though my ignorance had been taken advantage of. I truly believed there would be some sort of miraculous change, that my garage door would whisper open on the wings of angels and close like the drop of a pin. But the truth is that it still sounded exactly like it did before. Exactly. To top it off, a few days later several of the "top-quality" roller bearings jumped out of the track and the garage door got stuck. People: This is a garage door that has not failed once since I bought the property in 1998. Luckily, I was able to force the rollers back into the tracks and all is well. I do not think this company is a bunch of rip-off artists, I really don't. I just think they do what these types of companies have been doing for years, and that is keeping the American economy rolling by selling you things you don't really need. DON'T HIRE THIS RIP-OFF COMPANY! I called this company at 9:00 P.M. after a garage door spring broke. The garage door was half-way open, and I needed to repair it immediately because I would not be able get my car out of the garage to go to work the next morning. Moreover, my family and I were leaving for vacation in a few days. The technician showed up within the window time. After looking at the door, he said that the springs, torsion bar, cables, track wheels, and other parts needed to be replaced He quoted me $989 to perform the work. When I asked him whether it would make more sense to replace the door, he told me that replacing the door would cost between $7,000 and $10,000. (incidentally, the technician's statement was a half-truth. Certainly, one can spend $10,000 (or more) on a garage door. However, one call also purchase an installed, good quality, steel door for less than $4,000.) The technician also said that it would be a couple of weeks before a new door could be installed. Under the circumstances, I decided to repair the door. The technician finished the work (as I recall) at about 1:00 A.M. He submitted an invoice to me, which indicated that the total amount due was almost $1,600. When I questioned the amount, he said that the original quote did not include "parts." The parts cost $600? Stupidly, I signed and paid the invoice. The next day I noticed that two of the carriage bolts (which, as I understand, hold the door together) were laying on the ground. When I returned from vacation about a month later, I called several garage door companies to ascertain whether the repair cost was legitimate. Every company said that I had been ripped off. I then called the owner (Mike?) to complain. He promised to get back to me. He never did. Now six months later, the repair already has begun to fail. The garage door is off-balance (probably because the carriage bolts were not replaced) and the door opener has to strain to open the door. Sometimes the door opens; sometimes it doesn't. (The opener was replaced a couple of years ago.) I will buy a new garage door before I rely on this company's "warranty."' I was stupid, so I deserve what I got. But that doesn't mean that I can't warn others so that they can avoid getting burned as well. BUYER BEWARE. read more

My garage door had recently started to act differently, so I went on line to check out various service companies. Precision Garage Door Service could book an appointment for me the same day. They communicated with me via text and email, so I was happy when technician Bachir contacted me and asked if he could come early. When he arrived, he spent time examining the door and testing its operation. Then he spent time explaining to me what he'd seen, and what options he could offer. The options ranged from minor maintenance, to some parts replacements and repairs, and to installing a new operating system. Based on my budget, I asked Bachir to make the repairs, replace the spring, and replace other parts as needed. In about 3 hours he completed the work, showed me everything he'd done, and explained what signs of wear to watch out for and what to do about them. He cleaned up after his work and took the trash with him when he left. I knew the price for the work was high, but I am willing to pay a premium for professional and prompt service. The invoice charged the entire amount to the parts; I hope Bachir is well-compensated for his labor. I will call Precision Garage Door Service again when I need them, but I will probably negotiate separating parts and labor after I've researched the prices of parts beforehand so I can see what sort of markup is being charged. read more

I had my garage door serviced by Paul Brinkman of Precision Garage Doors. I spent over two decades in the corporate world as a sales and marketing executive for two Fortune 500 retail companies as well as a retail start up company. I also held two high level political positions and recently retired from Law Enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff. I believe I can do a good job of judging people's characters, motives and evaluating a company's customer service. Paul Brinkman gave me an excellent first impression. He was professional, precise and did a very good job of communicating my options to complete the repair. He was not pushy which was important to me. Would like to thank technician Jerry Parker. He is a shining star at Precision Door. The previous technician did mentioned the lift master could not be replace and I would have to wait 5-7 days to replace the mother board on a new garage door which was just installed back in December 2018. I placed another call and spoke with Tina and she mentioned not to worry she would send over Jerry Parker to take care of everything. He came out to my home did an awesome job, he replaced the broken lift master and took time to explain to me how my new lift master works, and how to maintain this device. He was very courteous, professional and I can see that he takes pride in his work. . The previous technician was adamant that this unit could not be replaced. I have tenants moving into this home in the next few days, and did not want to have them moving into a home with a broken garage door. This (Saturday) morning was starting out to be a good day until around 7:00am when the garage door came down with a house-jarring thud. Great... a broken torsion spring. Thinking that I'd have the car stuck in the garage all weekend, I called Precision Garage Door Repair to see if they were available for a weekend service call. They took my call at 7:30am and confirmed someone would be out between 8:00am and 10:00am. Mike called to confirm, arrived around 8:30am, and had the springs replaced in about 45 minutes. He also showed me that the side rod bearings had too much play in them, and he could replace them if I wished since they were cutting into the rod (very apparent). This was a no-brainer given that some plastic parts were used from the original garage door installation (done by a different company). Mike carefully navigated around my car (still stuck in the garage) as he pulled off the old parts and replaced them with new ones. After oiling the hinges and cleaning up, the garage door hasn't sounded this quiet in years... this service call turned out to be a terrific garage door tune-up! What impressed me most was how knowledgeable, skillful, and informative Bachir was. As he worked, he took the time to walk me through what he was doing and, more importantly, why he was doing it. He explained why regular garage door tune-ups are important, the expected lifespan and condition of the rollers and other components, and how the garage door opener and overall system work together. My name is Mark and I live in Sacramento CA. My In-laws live in Walnut Creek CA, and recently had a new garage door installed by Precision Door company in March of 2014. Mid-May of the same year that new door was no longer working. I did my best sir Lancelot imitation, mounting my mighty steed (got in my car) and headed over to the In-laws to see what the issue was. Sure enough the door was no longer working. This happened on a Wednesday May 14, 2014. I called after 4:00pm that same day and the lady on the phone (Madison) gave us an appointment between 10:00am and 12:00pm Thursday morning. At 10:30am to my surprise not only did the repairman show up but also the owner of the company (Pat Prendergast). Pat wanted to see for himself what was happening. After an analysis Pat and team determined it was an old weather strip issue. Turns out when the door was installed at the end of winter it had not had a chance to swell with the heat. They replaced the weather stripping, and low and behold, the electronic garage door worked perfectly. Great response time, great service, and an owner who cares. I had to have my garage door fixed because it wouldn't open. I called Precision Door Service in Hayward, and they sent me Travis Behn. Travis was outstanding. He was very professional, knowledgeable and patient. He was an excellent trouble shooter and discovered the problem after spending some time examining the door. He discovered a few problems, some more serious than others and thoroughly explained everything to me before he fixed anything. He could have sold me a new garage door, but because he was ethical, honest and upfront, he told me I didn't need a new door and that he could fix the current problems. He spent about three hours doing the repairs. One repair, if left as was, could have caused me bodily harm had he not noticed it. He was a very genuine and kind person who knew exactly what he was doing. Precision Door Service is fortunate to have Travis as an employee. I read the unpublished reviews on this company becuase it was only a 3 star company.. I wanted to see what kind of stuff was said behind the scenes so to speak. After calling 2 numbers for others I was surprised to actually have some one answer the phone with Precision. I scheduled a repair without asking for pricing as my car was stuck and I really needed to use it the next day. The technician arrived and told me my door needed to be rebuilt on top of just getting it in working order. I was shocked at the price but after seeing the work this guy did I believe I got a deal. My door was completely stuck with the rollers behind the track and the cables wrappd around the hanger. The technician put his ladder up sideways and released the springs causing a huge crashing noice. He then unwrapped the cables and showed me they needed replacement. He also showed me how my steel rollers were not turning. When he was done, I could not beleive how smooth and quiet the door was. I think you get what you paid for. I was so happy with the work I tipped the technician 40 dollars because he was so easy to work with. read more

We bought our garage door and opener from Precision a year ago, but started having some problems with it over the course of the year, mostly related to noise and the door not opening properly. We were very close to the end of our one year warranty when the manager, Mike sent out one of their best technicians, Doug to check out the situation. It turns out that the motor we had specifically requested wasn't compatible with our low hanging garage ceiling. Precision replaced the motor and fixed the door, all under the warranty. I give Precision 5 stars because of their handling of this situation. It's one thing for a company to sell a product; it is a totally different thing when a company stands by their product and work. Since it was so close to the end of our warranty period, another company might have done a slipshod fix and then cut and run. Precision didn't do that. They stood by their reputation and work by fixing the problem almost from scratch. So, I would use them again and refer others to them because of the way they handled this situation. Garage doors. These are the people to call if you want it done right. Nice to find a local business that is personable and provides quality, professional level service. They will first evaluate the situation and give you the options; from minimal, just get it working again to root cause and repair with a warranty. Erik worked a solution we both agreed on before he began. He completely explained the situation, the components that are contributing factors, and my options. As with any repair you never know what you're going to discover once you begin the work. You "do it your selfers" know what I'm talking about. Even though the spring was broken and the cable frayed(those are symptoms) it was a bearing that was the root cause. Though not included in the estimate Erik took care of it. That made a lot of sense as I had a plastic gear fail in the motor a year ago. And the door has been extremely noisy when opening and closing.. The springs were only 6 years old. My experience with Precision Door Service was a positive one! I'd been putting off getting my garage door repaired for months, feeling it was going to be a chore. A friend mentioned Precision to me. Precision made it easy right from the start by setting up a visit by repairman James for the very next day after I called, which was a Sunday no less. James assessed the situation and outlined three different levels of service that he could perform in terms of getting the door back into working order. He explained the various options with their respective tradeoffs straightforwardly and without undue sales pressure. I chose the middle tier of service, and James went to work right away, doing a conscientious job over the next three hours restoring a smoothly operating garage door. I called Precision at 8:30 am to get an appointment for a repair estimate in Hayward. They set the appointment for between 10 am and noon that same day. Our service technician, James, called at about 9:45 to advise he would arrive in about a half an hour. He was at our home by 10:15. James was friendly, and knowledgeable. He explained the options regarding our residential garage door repair, but didn't use any high powered tactics to "upsell" the job. He did the repairs he was asked to do and finished the job professionally and in a timely fashion. The charge was reasonable for the parts and work completed. Additionally, I had to call Precision back because I had a problem with part of the charges (this was not James' or Precision's fauit, but something I screwed up on). Pat from their office cleared up the problem right away. Quick response time, friendly and skilled technician, excellent work and equally good customer service at the front office. We needed our garage door motor replaced and contacted Precision (I used them several years ago when our garage door springs needed to be replaced. Our technician, Mike came out the next day and gave us several options (emailed in PDF form with 3 different quotes) for fixing or replacing the motor. We decided to replace the damaged motor with a similar version/model. Mike came back the following morning and quickly replaced the motor along with the sensors (and even installed a remote opener). Mike completed the job quickly and took the time to set up our HomeLink system as well. Pros: On-time and prompt Communicative - they email quotes and appointment time Options - they provide several different levels/qualities of motors, rails, etc.. A couple suggestions: Do some research ahead of time so you are not surprised by the cost. You can buy a motor retail at a lower cost, but you may not get a warranty, professional installation, and customer support in the same manner. Thank you Mike and Precision for your help. read more

Yesterday the spring on our roll up garage door broke with a POW! I looked in the phone book and called Precision. Since I wasn't going out until the next day they said they would be here in the morning and gave me a time. They emailed a confirmation. Technician Tony was here right on time. He was very nice, friendly, professional, courteous and helpful. My son's new car was in the garage along with mine. I was nervous about driving out son's car so Tony did it for me. Nice. He told me of all the options and I chose just to have the spring and two broken rollers replaced. To my surprise it took very little time and Tony had gone ahead and replaced all the rollers for me at no extra charge!! By the time he left I had an email with the receipt and a nice letter from the owner thanking me for the business. I am so happy with their service that I posted about it on my Facebook page and recommended Precision to my friends. I was having issues with my garage door working intermittently. I did the usual check the sensors and readjust it manually and that forced the problem for a little while. Then it just got to be too much. I looked up a reputable service company and on the first call I received a very informative person who made the appointment process very easy. Then the day the tech was to arrive he called me when he was in route and gave me the time he would arrive. He was on time and he went right to work on troubleshooting the door opener. Cem was pretty quick to diagnose the isssue and then we discussed pricing. Seemed to be pretty close to what I thought I was going to pay for a new opener and he had the parts on his truck! Boom it was finished an hour later! Cem was nice, very informative and even put up with the million questions my six year old had. Great tech and very quick. So, when I bought a home in Oakland with a 60-year old garage door, I wanted to find a company I could later tell my clients about. I called several garage door companies, and found Precision Overhead Garage Door to be the most professional and knowledgeable, to offer great value, and best of all, to deliver and install a beautiful metal, insulated roll-up door. We had one slight complication in that we needed a mail slot cut into the door, which they provided. They were able to use the existing door-opening mechanism and remotes, so the whole process was absolutely seamless.
