I attended a Pre-Dating speed dating event in Austin and wanted to share a couple of things I wish I had known in advance. First, contact information is not only shared for mutual matches. If you select someone, your email address is given to them even if they do not select you. This wasn't clearly communicated in the event listing or registration process, and it's something I think most people would reasonably expect to be mutual-only. Second, while the company states on its website that participants must be legally single (not separated, not in open relationships), this was not reflected at the event I attended. I spoke with multiple men who openly shared that they were either separated or in non-traditional arrangements, which suggests the guideline is not being clearly communicated or enforced. The event itself was well organized and the format worked fine, but the mismatch between stated policies and actual experience created a level of uncertainty around both participant expectations and privacy. If those aspects were clarified and consistently enforced, I would consider attending again. Until then, I'd recommend going in with a clear understanding of how information is shared and who may be in the room. (I reached out to them and over the course of several exchanges they would not confirm that they would start consistently enforcing this policy or at least communicating it at sign up or telling participants to read the website for policy. They dodged the question each time.) read more

Terrible experience. They lean heavily male dominant ratio, so they fill the female positions with people that are there as fluffers, some are not even signal. And do it for easy money read more

I enjoyed the overall experience as this was my first speed dating event. However, I did read reviews about people possibly being paid or invited to attend. After speaking with some of the guys, it confirmed that perception. Which is unfortunate because it takes away the genuineness of what the event should be about. I would recommend vetting the candidates, curating the event to make it more comfortable, interactive and explaining the process. Not a total bust, but definitely could be better. read more

I couldn't recommend this enough. It is such a refreshing experience to attend these event. They've certainly allowed me to believe that intentional dating exists especially in a swipe left world. I paid $35 for this event and later saw tickets drop to $18.95 due to dynamic pricing which was not clearly disclosed. Attendance was low and the overall experience did not reflect the value implied. Customer service was polite but would not issue a refund only a credit. I would not attend again. read more

Things were structured very well. Nothing complex about it, but guardrails enough to keep things moving. Our host, Josefina, was a saint and one of the cheeriest -- but not in a fake way -- people I've met in a while. A total professional. Every single person I met had their stuff together, and they were polite and chill and everyone just came with a "not placing expectations" vibe. I would do this again just to meet new faces. Not for nothing but people were patient and gracious about it being my first time (I didn't volunteer that but I think they knew even when they didn't ask haha) and pretty much everyone was attractive in their own way inside and out. It's so nice to see the world still has kindness running rampant when you give people a chance and just treat people AS people. I am a man and was paired with women but these people were so cool and well-adjusted I liked them as the people they were regardless of gender. The venue was great, too. Open enough and not loaded with crazy noises so you didn't have to strain to hear what was going on. Plenty of personal space. Not for nothing but it was super affordable. I'd do another one of these just to meet new faces. Who knows what'll happen after but it felt so good to just connect. Thanks for being an above-board company and handling everything in such a cool way. I have no dating experience and it wasn't an issue; this whole operation put me at total ease. read more

I've been to two of their speed-dating events and each time, they never sent me matches. You might think I'm horrible and that's why; but, I'm not, and you'll just have to take my word on that. There *were* matches. Both times. But I had to email them to get them. "Hey, where are the matches?" Each time, they said "oh, check your spam folder." Not there. They said, "oh, here they are; we sent them" yesterday or two days ago, as it was. Something seemed off. I asked twice after the first time and thrice after the second to have the email supposedly sent to me forwarded to me again. Eventually they sent me what appeared to be a forged email. You could open up the metadata and read the headers: the email was not a forward but an original that had been sent minutes before. That's really weird. We put trust into the company to do the matching and be on the level. I have no earthly clue what's going on. There are other weird things about this company, too. At the last event, a guy who had been to the one before--he seemed like the kind of guy who went to a lot of these things and would never get picked--got pulled back so a later-arriving but more put together attendee could start talking to the women first. At that event, the women were . . . almost completely . . . well, all but two were obese and one of the two that was not . . . I had also seen at their other event, the Lock & Key thing. She happened to make eight women, the minimum they promise you. I wonder how many of the women are just ringers to pad the numbers. So, that's the review. It's pretty bleak. It's a fine concept, but there's something up with these guys. Perhaps the organizer of these two events is the problem. Whatever the case, when I contacted corporate, they couldn't have cared any less. What is clear is that the chief qualification for making it to one of these events is a credit card they can charge and, once they do, you're pretty much on your own. read more

I was a bit apprehensive at first, but I decided to get out of my comfort zone and attend one of their speed dating event. And I'm so glad I did! The event was organized and very well thought out. I reviewed predating speedating in the past, but said review was posted during a very challenging time in my life, which deeply affected my feedback. I have taken time to reconsider my feelings and have since rejoiced predating speedating, and I feel considerably different with a new outlook. Please go by my current review and not the one from years ago. I have not dated in awhile due to a variety of circumstances, but have gotten back into the dating scene. We all know love is a game of luck, chance, right place & right time, and in a sense a numbers game. My main point is that I am thankful for predating speedating for giving me the opportunity to meet folks of the opposite sex face-to-face on a regular basis. To me that is a laudable service because finding love is very important. I would go ahead and say it is the most important thing in this world. Thank you to predating speedating for helping folks find true love. The events are also run very well and the staff is nice. I recommend this wonderful service. read more

Terrible speed dating!! I arrived at the specified address, there was no speed dating going on. I texted the event organizer and was told I was wrong. Attended one of their events and I'd call a therapist before I'd do it again because it would be masochistic. The success rate of these things is extremely low for some reason and it's hard to believe men repeatedly go. From what people say online, few people seem to be finding a match at all or one that went anywhere. It's like a dating app in real time but you can have all that on a dating app for free. After reading about the company, something seems amiss. There are red flags all over the reviews, dubious customer service, email mistakes, and the whole thing just seemed fishy. At my event 5 or 6 guys showed up and there were 12 women. That's because men aren't signing up for these things. All the conversations went about as well as they could go I thought and I selected 7. I got a text that said I received zero matches the next day. Yes, dating is not easy, people are difficult, you can't win them all, but it was surprising that after all that NOBODY would say yes to exchanging an email address. Look around online and you'll see FAR too many men out there are saying they also received zero matches so you have to question if the host is legitmately doing what they're supposed to do. You have no way of knowing if they just throw the paper away at the end of the night and I'd love to know if any man received a match and I'm not sure at this point why women would sign up unless they have an issue preventing them from meeting/dating or if they're genuninly there to find someone. I talked to one woman who said she knew the organizer and had attended a few. I got the feeling she may have been a plant. The organizer was quite prickly for a host of a social event and at the end when I asked if I'd filled everything out correctly, she acted like a bus driver. As if it was a huge imposition to even speak to me and was quick to hustle me out. read more

I went to this event last Sunday in Rochester at McGinny's on the River and really enjoyed talking to all the woman there. I thought the event was handled well until the most important part the matches. I found out two days later both my match results and an email from one of my matches ended up in my spam mail. I assume almost everyone I tried to contact the messages are in there spam emails as well and no one gets any results especially when some of the women I talk to all agree they hated hearing nothing back from anyone. Not only does it suck I feel like I'm out $32 and I actually made matches but I can't get ahold of any of them. I contacted the Speed dating service by email and they just sent me short email just saying "Yes we tell people to check their spam folder" but couldn't that message end up in spam as well? Like couldn't they also send a text or phone call as well stating hey you made this many matches make sure you check your spam email. I told my mom that I liked the event and she was going to go try the event with a few of her friends but with all the problems with matching it quickly changed her mind. It sucks because I did like it more than dating apps and I really wished I could get a hold of Gina that I matched there. It just became a massive bummer. Absolutely HORRIBLE. Both my roommate and I decided to try the service. Were led to believe it would be other professionals. Ended up being cancelled and rescheduled at the last minute. Then, the rescheduled event was at a dive bar. Only 6 guys were registered. SIX. Um, I thought this was a "fun, fast -paced event" with a lot of singles. This was just... sad. If so few people sign up and the ratio is off, why hold the event at all?? I guess the organizer still gets her money, so its all good, right? Never again. We're out $60 for a sham of an event. What a joke! read more

I decided to try speed dating after being frustrated with online dating and all the time that takes let alone issues like photos not being up to date etc. Being a busy professional and having known about speed dating for yeas I finally decided to try it. Although I live in Miami I work in Broward and went to an event at Tokyo Blue which is down the road from my office. The venue is cool with a nice vibe and the event ran a couple of hours since they had a dozen couples there. Time flew by and it was a better experience than I expected. I figured it would be a fine experience but was quite fun for sure. The event ran smoothly, people had a good time, the event host kept things light and fun. After the mini dates ended I handed the hostess my match sheet and received the results the next day. 3 matches the next day made the event even more worthwhile. Overall a lot of fun. I would go again at some point if none of my matches work out. read more

I'm embarrassed to say, I have done speed dating a few times. I do it whenever I am in a new city or if there is so cheap deal going on. I just think it's a great alternative to online dating based on seeing the person in person and to see if they can hold a conversation. I have had matches in every city until I moved to Reno! I went to this event largely because they are on Meetup.com where you can see pictures of several people attending. There were a couple really good looking guys so it was a given to sign up! Of course when I went, neither was there. The guys that were there in my age range (mid 20s to late 30s or something like that) fell into at least 1 of these categories: 1. clearly past 40 2. lacked social skills 3. ugly (sorry to say...) 4. blue collar (yeah I know Reno for the most part is a blue collar city) I said yes to every match just because I want to see how many matches I could get (yeah I have a large ego!!). There were more women there then men which usually happens at these things since most of the perfect package guys are already snatched up. I had 0 matches! I thought I would at least get 3 out of the 10 guys or so that I met. I thought I actually had a lot in common with 1 guy, and the other 2 seemed to really like me. My ego hurt =( Reno is not a city for singles IMO unless you are a college student, already from Reno and have a social circle in place. I have tried online dating here and it is RARE to find single guys in the late 20s-early 40s who have a college leveled educations, no kids and a good job which takes brains. So lonely. read more

I found a Pre-Dating event online, and thought it sounded fun. They advertised it as being for single professionals, which I am. I looked for an event in my area and then looked for an age category that fit me. I found one for Women 28-36 and Men 30-38, and thought, score! I texted a friend who wanted to join in the fun, we signed up and paid right away. On the day of the event, we got an email that had a new age range: Women 27-43 and Men 29-45!! This was a bait and switch. But, we thought we'd see if maybe the confirmation e-mail was wrong...maybe it was a double event or something. (Neither of us has ever gone to this type of event before.) However, when we showed up, every guy I saw had to be at least 40-45. We are 29 and 35 and had absolutely no desire to stay and participate in an event that was not what we had signed up for. When we spoke with the hostess and asked for a refund, we were treated with disrespect. She said she NEVER posts events in that age category (30 year-old men) and told us it was our fault and mistake, and that we needed to still participate. We explained that there was clearly false advertising, and we insisted that we receive a refund. Finally, the hostess agreed to switch us to a new event, and we went back into the restaurant to enjoy a girls night. When the pub manager overheard us talking, she said something to the effect of, "Oh you girls should have called first; I would have told you it's the same guys who show up at every event." (The Pre-Dating events in our area are held monthly at the same establishment.) The event hostess came to speak to us again a short while later. We saw that she was on at least her second or third beer and was not dressed professionally (like you would expect a hostess to be). She wanted to know why we didn't want to participate. The age difference was apparently not enough for her. She asked us what we were looking for. After essentially being told our way of thinking was wrong, that we should be interested in much older men, we said thanks, please just e-mail us. When we left, my friend and I chatted and we decided we would just contact the corporate number, file a complaint and ask for a reimbursement. However, when talking with their customer service "department" (we each got the same guy, it must not be as large an organization as you'd first think), we were told the same things: the situation was our fault and we are the ones who made the mistake. We were told that no money can be returned. Even when we discussed that we as customers were falsely advertised to and treated with disrespect, no money will be given back. Less than a week after calling customer service, my friend and I received e-mails from the event hostess stating we had been signed up for her next event! I don't even fit the age group for this particular event! All in all, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this service. Went to a couple events in Wisconsin because my sister met her husband at a speed dating event and they were so much fun! Everybody was a bit nervous at the beginning but as soon as the first date started all the tension seemed to go away. I much prefer this type of dating compared to online dating. To meet this many people from online dating sites would take months but with speed dating I met more than 12 people each time. The host was very professional and efficient and the people who attended were mostly all career professionals. Everybody was really friendly and we had free appetizers during the half-time break. After attending serval events since dating is a numbers game I find the service to do down the hill. Part of it is not the company's fault but the people that attend. Majority of the women are 2 hours away. Makes me wonder what they are doing here and I won't date long distance. Many attendants I find are the "leftovers" that have unsettled personal issues. Never got a single match and I am a fairly good conversationist. I begin seeing many regulars appearing after the 3rd event. I thought the event should have been more mixed. The event host was not every good at sending out results unless I contact the company customer service. Occurred 3 times and she never respond to my text or email unless I am signing up. Even thou I got several free credits for no match I think I will pass. Far better luck meeting through acquaintances and people at social events I enjoy attend regularly. Zero expectations and judgement. I think Speed Dating concept just don't work at all overall. Its impossible for a person to make good unbiased decision in 6 minutes. I went three times and here is the summary based on my experience & talking with other men at the Miami and FLL events. I went the last time only to confirm my findings. This event happens for two groups: ages 20-30s and 30-40s at the same place. Men will be more in the first age group and women in the second age group. So they combine both the groups for dating and it gets super awkward with the women in their forties trying to communicate with guys in later twenties. You will feel sorry for the women. In the 20-30s age group, most of the women are in 33-36 and are from different countries. 90% of these have moved from other countries when they are teens and are confused with the American culture. They are so serious/sad and will interrogate you like they have to marry someone in the next hour. One way to find them is usually they have the starting numbers (1,2,3) because they are the first ones to register early for the event and are eager/desperate. There are 10 percent women with good careers and manners, but unfortunately they are not good looking. A few of the women are in ages 26-28 who are not going anywhere with their studies and wants to hookup and get married soon, have babies before they reach their thirties. They don't want to study/work hard and they don't have any hobbies; literally no hobbies or activities. And there are women in 23-25s, who comes in pairs (friends), wants to get as many yes from men. So they act so cheerful and talk like they want to sleep with you that night. But they will never say Yes to you for the future dates using the sheets. They may want to sleep with someone that night but again they are looking for guys that look like thugs and are smooth. Unfortunately the guys that attend the event are the ones who dress really good and are socially inept and tries to act cool. I have a slight feeling that the event people organize these girls. The one thing that 90% of these women ( Must be true for men too) do at the event is lying. Little common sense and you can see/deduce that they lie at least once in each interactions. We cannot blame them as they can't say the truth to a total random stranger. But some goes overboard with a lot of lying. Also the organizers have to rotate the men between tables for every 6 minutes and many times they lose their patience. They shout : "Yes, Kick him out" while smiling but you already feel embarrassed as everyone heard it and notices you. Some of the women are on their working visa and are looking for American citizens to marry. They have asked me directly if I have an American citizenship. Additional expenses:: Car parkings, Drinks with prices as in clubs. Conclusion: Event looks attractive but not worth it unless you look like a stud. Anyways, if you are a stud you will not go through this hassle to pick up women. read more
