We are thrilled to have had Wilfredo and Caesar with us for fall 2023. We waited on the review…read moreuntil the grass, shrubs, and trees came in Spring 2024. We hired the team to begin work 'terraforming' our hillside property after a number of bids finding AA&B to provide the most comprehensive estimate and their willingness to work with us on such a large project. The only flat space on the property was very close to the street. The property dropped one full story from front to back of the house and then again another story about 8 feet away from the back of the house to the back lower property boundary. We are at the top hill on our street so the property also fell away towards our neighbors down the street. We discussed options to install retaining walls to transform the hillside to flat yard with retaining walls as two tiers on the South side with our neighbors, west side along ~80 feet of the back of property, and a bit on the north side to enclose the lower 'basement' level backyard. We had two gates installed either side of the house with a wide stairway down to the lower level on the south side. We had our gutters in the back and off the mudroom buried. To complete the project we had six foot stockade or semi-private fencing installed to ring the side and back yards. Work began in October and was finished in two months time on this massive project. We appreciate Wilfredo for his thoughtful comments and suggestions (excavation is discovery and you never know what lurks under the surface) and Caesar, 'the strongest man in the world'. We are so thankful to have discussed the project years ago with Wilfredo and very much appreciate all that they did for us. The photos do not show just how changed the property is. We have planted numerous fruit and shade trees, raised beds, to make it our private space. Many thanks guys!

He then attempted to add $150 to rake the stones in my side yard, even though I had clearly stated that I only needed weed removal and leaf cleanup, a job that could reasonably be completed in two hours or less. He originally agreed to perform the cleanup for $350 but later increased the price to $450 and then $550, claiming he needed to hire two additional workers. All of these discussions were captured on my exterior security cameras. After agreeing to the $350 price and scheduling the work for the following day, he failed to show up. When I contacted him, he responded, "I am sorry, I tried to find guys to help me with tomorrow but they didn't wanna work."

We live several flights of stairs above the street, on ledge, with rocky soil. Everything had to be done by hand, including carrying countless barrels of old soil down the stairs and bringing fresh loam back up. Mario and his crew were amazingly friendly and treated all of it as just part of the job. Not one complaint, even when the conditions added several days to the work. I feel bad living so high up off the street and deal with a lot of guilt and grief about it with workers that come to the house. It is a lot easier on us when that is taken out of the equation. At one point, they were working so hard to remove a giant boulder that I came out and told them it wasn't worth the trouble. I honestly think they would have kept at it until they got it out. That says a lot about their commitment. Jeff coordinated perfectly with Fred at Designer Sprinkler Service, who installed our new irrigation system, so everything happened in the right order. The yard is now prepped and seeded, and it already looks so much better. We're excited to see the grass come in and very grateful to the whole crew. Highly recommend.

Joe suggested synthetic grass because I had a city yard with no time/space for lawn maintenance. His vision for my yard was spot on, he turned my quote around in a few days. There were snags along the way, what we thought was one heavy piece of granite turned into an excavation of an old brick factory in my back yard-I was panicked. Not to worry, in less than 20 minutes a shiny yellow bucket loader pulled into my back yard and an hour later my yard was perfectly graded and ready for my new "Frass" (fake grass, yes I made that up) He stuck to the deadline in spite of the rainy May we had and got my yard ready in time for the birthday party. One of the main reasons I almost chose them was the uniform spacing between the tiles in their portfolio, which showed a high level of precision. I got quotes from three different companies, and Premier Pavers was about $4k higher than the middle priced. I was still inclined to go with them initially because I appreciated their approach to the quoting process and their clear attention to detail. Where everything fell apart was during final negotiations. I explicitly asked for an all-inclusive price, but when the final contract arrived, it still called out items that were not included. I ended up hiring another contractor who was roughly 60% cheaper. If you have a large project and a flexible budget, Premier Pavers might be a solid pick because they are good with documentation and detailing.
