Dr. Anthony Caliendo is a very special chiropractic practitioner. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Anthony who specializes in Network Spinal Analysis, or NSA, a procedure that maximizes spinal health without any pressure on the spine that conventional chiropractic employs as treatment. We go to Practice Well Being, Dr. Anthony's chiropractic care, for health maintenance and well being. NSA evaluates the subluxations or misalignments of the spinal column presented by an X-ray. These subluxations may have been caused by either physical trauma or emotional trauma and either of these may cause pain. Through NSA, gentle touch of the spinal column and the direction of Dr. Anthony to breathe and stretch in a way that his observation has warranted, while laying face down on a chiropractic table, allows the subluxation to 'ease' and reasssume a proper position that will restore the spinal column to optimum health. Over a period of time, a conscious awareness on our part of proper sitting, bending, and standing , sets in. It ensues from the counsel received by Dr. Anthony during the chiropractic sessions. We went to see Dr. Anthony, successive to seeing a former NSA practitioner that my wife found, and who relocated to Maryland to work at a hospital. Her referral has resulted in Dr. Anthony providing health maintenance of our spines, and to our experience of being pain free. I worked in construction for many years and over thirty years sought relief from back pain occasioned by my work. For twenty years I was going for conventional chiropractic care. When I first experienced NSA chiropractic care, I immediately realized that NSA was totally different from conventional chiropractic. In conventional chiropractic, chiropractors employed downward, two hand forced pressure on my back, to force vertebrae 'back' into position, or I had my head and neck wrapped in the chiropractor's arms and then twisted to adjust my neck vertebra. I had 'electric' stimulation, and even traction with a chin strap and both ankles strapped, as I was stretched. I so often needed to quickly return in a desire to alleviate the pain that soon came back. I lived with the pain however, until I could return for another visit in hope to get some relief. Our NSA visits now are bi-weekly and I think of them as regular health maintenance. I enjoy the pain free life of optimum spinal health that I have been living with for the past eight years since I have been going to Dr. Anthony. On occasion I lift something bulky or stress my spine by arduous physical work, where I have not been mindful to lift properly or work conscientiously, and will certainly have pain. Seeing Dr. Anthony doe an extra visit or two if needed will resolve the issue. As we get older, and the quality of life we live is important, the adage "health care is not expensive, sick care is" - takes on important meaning. We continue to employ regular spinal maintenance, seeing Dr. Anthony Caliendo to have good spinal health. Dr Caliendo is very caring and concerned about his patients well being. He has over 30 years experience in NSA (Network Spinal Analysis), which is a low force way of treating patients,there is no "Cracking" involved. His staff is kind and very accommodating; they always find time to talk to you and make your appt as convenient as possible. To address the former review, there is an option to pay all at once to lower the cost of each visit; however this is only a suggestion. You can come for a shorter period of time and pay as you go,however,it will cost more. You should do your homework about NSA before you go because it is so different then regular chiropractic. Dr. Caliendo and his staff are very welcoming people. His workshop for newcomers gives good info and the methods he uses seem to make sense. The only problem here is he asks you to pay for a year's worth of treatment up front which will make it not do-able for many people who would like to try his practice as it's thousands of dollars. He does take your insurance card at the beginning, probably to charge them for the first 2 visits. Not sure where insurance fits in after that. I should have asked....but I was caught off guard by the money he wants up front. It's disappointing for those who have real pain and are looking to try his practice. read more
