If 10 starts was an option, I would select that! I had a great experience at PPL! Professional and courteous is their brand! Worked with Victor and let me tell you, it was the best RV buying experience. I found a Jayco on RV trader which led me to PPL, I sent an inquiry and the next day Victor reached out. I immediately notified him that I was at El Paso and everything must be done via email/digital before I commit to making the drive across Texas to close the deal. Victor was extremely accommodating and patient, he answered every question and went a step further by doing a video call to show me the Jayco I was interested in buying, inside and out. Becki from the parts department is courteous and welcoming! She helped me pick out the Electrical Management System for my RV, it was a very pleasant experience! John did the walk thru with me showing me everything about the Jayco. He even took it a step further by teaching me how to properly set up the weight distribution hitch for my truck. I highly recommend PPL for all RV needs! Sales, parts, service, etc they got it all! If I'm ever in the market again for a RV, I'd make the 10 hour drive again to deal with PPL. read more

PPL Motor Homes - TRD Pro Tacoma with the Jayco 174BH - RV Dealers Near Me - Houston, Texas

I was referred to PPL Motorhomes in Houston to sell my fifth-wheel RV on consignment. I was told PPL was the largest consignment RV dealer in the country, so taking it there seemed like a no-brainer. We cleaned the RV from top to bottom and made the three-hour drive from Corpus Christi to Houston. When we dropped it off, we were told to remove our personal items from the trailer. Looking back, I will take some responsibility here: I should have asked exactly what they meant by "personal items." I assumed that meant our belongings, not standard equipment and accessories that came with the RV. PPL also could have been much clearer about what they expected us to remove. Unfortunately, the RV did not sell after a little more than three months, so I went back to Houston to pick it up. I paid the $695 cleaning fee, which I had agreed to when I originally consigned the RV, even though we had already cleaned it thoroughly before bringing it in. I inspected the trailer for damage when I picked it up, but I didn't immediately realize how much of the equipment inside was missing. Once I got back to Corpus Christi and set the RV up, I started looking for the equipment that had been in the trailer when I dropped it off. That is when I discovered that essentially everything that wasn't physically bolted down was gone. That included standard RV equipment such as: * Leveling blocks * Sewer hoses * Hose holders * Fresh-water hoses * Water regulators * 50-amp power cord * Surge protector To PPL's credit, they did replace the 50-amp power cord and surge protector with a very nice unit, and I genuinely appreciate that. However, the rest of the experience has still cost me well over $1,000 in replacement equipment. And then I discovered one final issue after moving to Memphis, Tennessee. When I set the RV up at our new location, I noticed that the specially sized garbage cans designed to fit the kitchen pull-out cabinets were also gone. These aren't generic garbage cans I can simply buy at Walmart or order online. They are specifically sized for this particular RV and are essentially impossible to replace. That's the part that really bothers me. I understand that there was some misunderstanding about what should have been removed from the trailer, and I accept some responsibility for not asking more questions when we dropped it off. But I don't understand why standard RV equipment--or especially custom-fitted components that are clearly part of the RV's functionality--would be removed or disposed of in the first place. If PPL has a policy that everything not physically attached to the RV must be removed before consignment, that needs to be made absolutely clear to the customer. "Remove your personal items" does not reasonably communicate that the customer should remove the sewer equipment, water equipment, electrical equipment, leveling equipment, or custom-fitted items that came with the RV. I chose PPL because of its reputation and because I believed I was taking my RV to one of the country's premier RV consignment dealers. Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling like I paid a substantial amount of money to have my RV sit for three months, didn't sell it, and then had to spend more than $1,000 replacing equipment that was in it when I delivered it. The replacement of the power cord and surge protector was appreciated, but it doesn't change the fact that much of the equipment was missing--and some of it, like the custom kitchen garbage cans, cannot realistically be replaced. My advice to anyone consigning an RV with PPL: take pictures of everything inside the RV before you leave it, make a written inventory of every item you are leaving, and get very specific clarification from PPL about what they expect you to remove. Don't assume that "personal items" means what you think it means. I wanted this to be a good experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't read more

We bought a used 2017 class A coach. We left the dealership and on the way back home from TX to NY, the next day, the DEF system went. Ok fixed that. Next travel day, half the dash and controls went out, no GPS. Ok troubleshooted that issue, it was a fuse. Great. Next travel day, all of a sudden, a very loud cricket like sound starts coming from the driver's side dash. Call PPL at this point because we are now on the side of the road with multiple alarms sounding. Two mechanics at PPL has no clue what could be wrong. No one had any idea. Now keep in mind these are the very "mechanics" telling us we were roadworthy and the couch was inspected before purchase. I am a 56yr old woman. I asked Google. It turns out, it was just the drivers seat out of driving position. TWO MECHANICS WHO DO THIS FOR A LIVING COULDNT DIAG THIS????? I am beyond upset at this point. We are 4 days past when we were supposed to arrive home. Let's pray we make it. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with PPL Motor Homes in Houston was one of the most frustrating buying experiences I've ever had. From the very beginning, customer service was terrible. When I walked into the dealership, I was told I couldn't speak to anyone or even look at any RVs without first providing my personal information. Due to privacy and safety concerns, I declined. A manager then came out and offered to personally help me, so I decided to give them a chance. I found the RV I wanted and made an offer. I was told they couldn't reach the seller but would contact me as soon as they heard back. Two days passed without a single update. After making several phone calls and struggling to reach anyone, I was finally told the seller had countered my offer. I accepted the counteroffer immediately, completed all of the paperwork they sent me, and had it back to them within 20 minutes. Then... nothing. Another 24 hours passed with no communication. Once again, I had to repeatedly call before finally reaching someone. Eventually, I spoke with a man who identified himself as Sales Manager Ray Jennings. He said he would look into the situation. Three hours later, someone finally called me back and told me the seller had accepted--but at a price that was $6,000 higher than the amount I had already agreed to. After more digging, they admitted they had entered the wrong information into their own system. Their mistake created the entire issue. When I spoke with Ray Jennings again, he simply told me there was nothing he could do because PPL didn't own the RV. He wasn't willing to help offset any of their fees despite the mistake being entirely on their end. He couldn't tell me when the RV would be ready, couldn't explain the next steps, and repeatedly referred to a contract that I hadn't even been given the opportunity to review. Throughout this entire process, I experienced poor communication, conflicting information, unreturned calls, and employees who didn't seem to know what was happening internally. I was constantly told one thing only to be told something completely different later. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend shopping elsewhere if you're looking to buy an RV. If you're considering consigning your RV with PPL, I would think carefully before doing so. My experience left me with very little confidence in their communication, organization, or customer service. Buying an RV should be exciting--not a stressful experience filled with confusion and constant follow-up from the customer. read more

Spent several hours working with a salesperson looking at used Jayco Alantes and was wanting to buy one on the lot. After negotiating a base price they of course wanted to add ridiculous extra charges to the price which I had a problem with and finally we were at a difference of about 300 dollars that was clearly still a money grab on their part. I asked the salesperson to send me an email explaining the charges and what the benefit was to me. So the "professional" sales guy decided to ghost me for 3 days. No reply to any texts etc just silence. So after 3 days the clown texts me, this was the day my inspector was to inspect the RV, saying it was ready for my inspector and he just wanted me to be happy! What a joke I never texted him back and ended up buying a 2024 new Alante for not much more than what I offered for the used one. I watched that used Alante lose tens of thousands of dollars of value at PPL and all over 1 single email over 300 dollars! So take note of this if you are thinking about selling your Rv through these clowns! The actual owner got royally screwed by Ppl since that motor home was basically sold for a much higher price many months before it disappeared from the lot. All over 300 dollars! read more

Terrible customer service! They're fine while you're there during the purchase BUT you can forget about any follow up repairs that they didn't catch on your walkthrough. Or any promises of repairs that they let slip through their inspection process. They've made empty promises. Won't reply to repeated emails or phone calls to inquire when repairs will be made. I CAN NOT AND WOULD NOT recommend the Houston location. read more

Dropped the Ball Over and over each person I had contact with, dropped the ball. It started with Jennifer in February. She texted me after I inquired through their online sales group. She texted up until the moment I showed up to see the camper-van. When I showed up to meet with her, she wasn't there and neither were any other sales people. It takes an hour to drive there from my home. I was able to see the van, but couldn't drive. No one was there to help me at noon on a Saturday. Then never received a return text from her. So I watched the van online through RV Trader. Sent questions, made offers. For a month and a half no one contacted me. The price dropped twice. In April, I was able to get a sales person to return my call and was finally able to test drive. I made an offer and was ready to close. That took about a week. in the meantime, numerous people called to give me quotes for upgrades and said they would call me back. No one called back. When we came to pick up the van there was a walkthrough. First thing was some one had taken a crap in the toilet, so that had to be cleaned. Then they left all the tanks full so I had to pay to have the tanks emptied after I left. I paid almost $700 for an inspection that should have found that there was a dead auxiliary battery. The auto part of the van, I was told they had done an inspection, but I had to pay $2,500 for a new A/C compressor. When I left, I was told it would take about 2 weeks to get my tags. After 3 weeks I called and was told the paperwork had just gone out that day and I should be fine since my temporary tag was good until June 23rd. On June 10th there was a message saying my tags were in. I called back immediately and spoke with Tracy. Tracy told me the tags would go out the next day mail. I checked the mail every day. On June 23rd, I called and asked Tracy if she mailed out my tags, She said she had. When I asked for a tracking number, she transferred me to Gladys. Gladys told me that she would send out my tags that day FEDEX and that Tracy had never notated that I returned the call. I told them to hold on and I would drive once again the 2 hour round trip to pick up my tags(with expired tags by the way). Buy from them if you want a great example of complete organizational incompetence. read more

In November 2023, we consigned our 2016 Winnebago Forza with PPL Motorhomes in Houston. We were assured it would be well cared for--kept clean, checked regularly, and maintained in sell-ready condition. We trusted them with our RV based on their reputation. Over the months, the only updates we received were requests to lower the price. No serious offers were presented--until May 2024, when PPL themselves offered to buy it for $80,000 (far below the original valuation). Shortly after, we were shocked to receive an email stating that the RV had mold and water damage, including a soft floor. This was the first time we were notified of any issues. We've since had the RV inspected independently. The damage appears to be the result of prolonged water exposure--something that likely could have been avoided with the regular upkeep PPL promised. We are currently giving PPL Motorhomes the opportunity to take accountability and resolve the issue fairly, either by repairing the RV or honoring their purchase offer. This review is Part 1 of our experience. We sincerely hope the next update will be a positive one. read more

Got a super deal on a great motorhome. Closing took all day however otherwise I'd give it 5 stars

Took our travel trailer to PPL for service on dining table, side panel, electric tongue motor and door locks. Bill was $500 and change. Was called 5 days later with the 'estimate' now $1600 and change. 3 days later the call came saying the BILL was $2400 and change - without authorization!!! Almost went postal! Turns out it was very poor communication on their part -BILL was just another updated 'estimate'. Needless, I said 'no' to the estimate and went to pickup the trailer. It took over an hour to have it brought to me. They did 'check' the tongue motor and work on the table which was done very badly - for $500. After a long discussion with Ricky (the service manager), he agreed to remove $109 and change from the bill for the poor work done on the table. This was supposed to have been done a week ago. Three phone calls and messages left with the staff (Ricky wouldn't answer the phone) and still no refund. Just piss poor service, work and communication. Accordingly, will not be returning to this place! read more

***Do not buy insurance protection policies from PPL.*** We bought the top-of-the-line plan for our Itasca Solei RV, but when we had a legitimate claim after a breakdown, their insurance provider (National Auto Care Corp.) plan denied 2/3 of the charges, would not return phone calls and deliberately misstated what happened as the reason for the denials. The contract is so full of exclusions and legal loopholes, you would be far better off finding a legitimate 3rd party provider. read more

Was not a good experience. Sales person fell ill early in the negotiations, there was no backup. Information was not shared properly, communication was horrible. Surprisingly, after quite a process, we did successfully buy the RV. Both my wife and I agreed that it was one of the most frustrating and disorganized transactions we had ever done. Then, to add insult to injury they mailed the plates to the wrong address. Instead of fixing their foul-up, evidently they will "reimburse us", and we must go deal with the DMV to re-register the RV. Overall, not a good experience. read more

I am very disappointed in the lack of effort given to sell our motorhome. We paid to have it kept clean, it wasn't. The doors were left unlocked and looky-loos were left unattended, which resulted in damage, which was inadequately repaired, and minor theft of small items. There was no effort made to sell, other than the posted ads and photos. It's a big ticket item, however there is no way they would have earned the $20,000 commission if it had sold!! That's a ridiculous amount out of the seller's pocket for posting an ad, and potentially processing the transaction. It's the same amount of work for a $200,000 coach as it is for a $10,000 trailer! Their "service" dept charged us over $300 to simply re-hang the rock guard, and quoted $450 to replace the deteriorated wiper blades, which we refused! Criminal! read more

I am extremely disappointed in the whole process of how PPL handled the sale. I felt like we were pressured to the extreme. Very high pressure to fix things that worked when we dropped the RV off. Parts were thrown away and we were charged ridiculous amounts to spray WD 40 on the jacks and awning. The techs did not know how the new 12 volt refrigerator functioned and charged a ridiculous amount to figure it out. Same on the furnace. Ended up costing $5000 to sale. I also had to argue with the salesman to remove things thatI was charged twice for on several items. I will never do business with this company again. A very unhappy customer, read more

PPL Motor Homes and a Senior Citizen's Sad Experience Last Spring I was in the market for a used Airstream Interstate. My kids were not happy that their 80 year old mom was still pulling a 19' Airstream Bambi. On the internet I found a used Interstate I could afford at PPL Motor Homes on the Southwest Freeway in Houston. When I showed up I was assigned to Paul Daron. He is a charming salesman, but ultimately dishonest. I was prepared to pay cash for the 2018 Airstream. Paul gave me a persuasive pitch about helping his family by financing a portion of the price for six months. He did tell me that he and PPL would receive a finder's fee and that I could pay the balance off after six months. Oh, he forgot to mention that the interest rate would be 12.9%. Next came the pitch for insurance. I initially said no as I was happy with USAA. Paul told me that for $1000 everything on this used motorhome would be covered for 12 months. During his pitch he took a "call' from a recent buyer. His side of the call went like this: "I am sorry that you are having a problem. When I offered you the insurance you declined. Unfortunately you are on your own." Hearing only Paul's side of the 'call', I reconsidered and said yes. I found to my chagrin that no such one year policy even exists. The service manager warned me that I should always verify what a salesman says. The policy Paul sold me costs $10,000 for 3 years. It does not cover 'as is' problems on a used motorhome. I discovered this after my first trip. I brought the RV back to PPL with multiple problems. The insurance covered $229 on a $1500 bill. I wonder what Paul's commission was. I should have had one of my children with me when I was signing the very large stack of papers. The person who handled the closing failed to explain either the 12.9% interest nor the $10,000 insurance plan. I trusted Paul so I just signed on the many dotted lines. When I discovered that I was paying $10,000 for insurance, I tried without success to get in touch with Paul. He did not return my calls. Finally I showed up in person and asked to talk to the General Manager. Geno Mazariegos is also charming. As I told my sad story he listened carefully and even took notes. He promised to have the insurance charge removed from my balance at Members Choice Credit Union. That was in July. In August I made another long trip to PPL to see Geno. He reassured me the charge was in the process of being removed. "Please give it another few weeks." It is still on my loan balance. The 6 months required to earn PPL their finder's fee is now up. I don't find that coincidental. read more

Unprofessional, do not return calls when left messages. Continuously lied about service pricing. I bought a 2020 Winnebago from them and in their fees they charged a $300 VIP detail and walk through to show everything works and is clean. There was black mold in the fridge, and it looked like someone spit dip in the sink and there was stuff all over the toilet. The guy who was doing the VIP walk through and described as their best said all they do is a wipe down. Well a wipe down and a detail are two totally different things. A Detail is a professional job and a wipe down is a trip through the youth sport donation car wash. Actually they did a better job. The guy they sent acted like we were wasting his time and didn't want to be there. When I pointed out the missing screw from the dangling oven rack it was was cosmetic which I found under the stove later when troubleshooting the broke water pump. So, We took it out to a local camp ground to test the unit before we took it on a big trip. So, I was trying to sanitize the water tank and the water pump did not even work. After bring it back home and looking at the water pump I discovered that the water pump and the Carbon monoxide detector were not even connected. The wires were just dangling around in the cavity where they are located under the sink. So after some more testing stuff there is a rocker switch that should turn on a light but does not seem to work. So, after some research I discover there is suppose to be led lights under the awning. I found the wire in the channel that goes to the non existent lights that the vip walk through did not find ! By their Best guy , RIGHT! I also discovered one of the speakers don't work. I am sure it was just over looked. Hmmm If you buy something from PPL don't get the vip walk through it is a waste of money. They don't do a detail cleaning. Which is how it is described in their paperwork. Take a check list and check everything yourself!!!!!! As far as Winnebago quality ha. The couch was uncomfortable during our short test trip. I had heard PPL would be the best place to sell my RV. Their deal is they would show my unit, keep it clean and safe. Their communication during the process of getting my unit onto their lot was good then it all went downhill. The only time I heard from them was when they wanted me to reduce my price. They were talking 10% and would pass on a deal rather than working together and giving up some of their commission. After 10 months, I finally picked up my unit. In the course of this time, my unit became filthy, has a TV shattered, and developed a leak that ruined my roof. They were supposed to be the stewards of my property and failed miserably. When picking up my unit, they refused to take any responsibility. They were sure to point out that any their agreement states any damage that occurred on their lot was not their responsibility.
