Outstanding Customer Service - Gary Went Above and Beyond! I can't say enough good things about Gary and his shop! I had a bit of a mishap on Saturday morning - put the wrong address in my maps and didn't make it before closing time. Gary had already called to let me know he'd wait a bit, but by the time I got his message, it was 15 minutes past closing and he'd already left. Here's where Gary really showed what exceptional customer service looks like: I called him back, and even though he was already on his way home, he turned around and came back to open the shop for me. I am so incredibly grateful because I really needed that battery that same day. And if that wasn't enough, his price was almost HALF of what West Marine was going to charge me for the equivalent battery! Gary's combination of honest pricing and willingness to go the extra mile (literally!) for his customers is rare these days. Highly highly recommended! I came in last minute to replace my rv battery, I was helped by Frank and Jose. I arrived Powerstride right before they were about to close explaining to them my issue and how I had no idea what I was doing. They took the time to ask me a few questions about how I would be using these batteries to make sure this was the best buy for me. The best customer service ever ! NEVER once did I feel like they were trying to make me buy something other than what I needed. I did ask about other options and they were nice enough to explain to me how this other option is a better option and how I would need to make some minor adjustments on my rig. So my friend's battery (I was borrowing his car) died as I was pulling out from a parking lot near the Rosecrans St/Old town area. Freaked out not knowing exactly what just happened, I pulled out my phone and look for the nearest battery service auto shop. Within 20 minutes in comes a friendly man, I later learn his name is Frank. Frank helps me jump start the car. And instructs me to follow him to the shop. I do as he says and shortly he has one of his men determine the root of the problem with a code scanner to make sure what is going on with the car. Yep, it's a dead battery. And it seems like it probably hasn't been changed for over 4-5 years. The cost to get it replaced? A very affordable price tag. I persistently tried to tip both men and they refused each time. Great service, professional, honest, and going beyond what's expected 5/5 STARS. This review is long overdue (this happened almost one month ago) so I apologize. Frank provides absolutely amazing and helpful customer service. I know nothing about cars, and while on the phone with him to figure out what kind of battery I have, he walked me through the steps to help me find the information he needed to look it up. I called 3 times within the course of a week because I at first wanted it delivered but then changed my mind, and had some scheduling errors on my part. He was sweet and polite the entire time. Not intimidating and very easy to talk to. Any time I had a question he never seemed annoyed or short, he was just genuinely happy to help. He is clearly a caring and trustworthy person. The services are fast and reasonably priced. Gary was so nice and able to quickly change my battery. My car has been running smoothly since. They are also respecting COVID-19 precautions, wearing masks, providing hand sanitizer, and posting notices reminding customers to maintain social distancing. These guys just always impress me. The latest episode recently involved a stone-dead battery in my motorcycle which occurred very abruptly. The battery measured 0 volts and my battery tender was of no help so I called Frank to describe the situation and order another one. Frank asked me to leave the dead soldier at my front door so Daniel could pick it up when he delivered my new one all the way up here in Escondido. He then charged and tested the bad battery and it charged back up like the Deka champ it is. Meanwhile, it was clear the problem was with my bike's wiring and the battery had nothing to do with the issue. So since the old battery is now good and functions fine - guess what - these guys will be bringing the old battery back up to me at no charge! There are few companies of any type that I have experienced such great service from, and I am very grateful to know of Powerstride to handle my battery needs. read more

These guys have NO idea what customer service is. I bought a pair of batteries for my truck (same day) And they both stopped working. I brought them in for warranty (under a year from purchasing them) and they said they were out of warranty and that it was impossible I bought same day because of manufacturers stamp. I left batteries there because they "had to speak to some one higher up" and when I came back, the said they no longer have my cores. I will not be doing business , nor would I recommend this place to anyone..... NOT a happy customer! read more

Needed a deep cycle gel car battery and was done putting it off. I had done my research and I just needed to find it on the shelf that morning. I knew what the battery was going to cost, so when the banner claimed 'Wholesale to the Public' I expected better prices than retail. I had to negotiate to get my wholesale price. But I Did Get The Right Price. I rate 3 stars for allowing me to get the right price, but no to the 4 stars- not a fan for making me work for it. ***** reading JA's review I now better check to be sure I am a registered battery owner in case there is an issue and I need to use the warrenty protection...... read more

they offer a 2 yeasr warranty, but won't honor it. very dishonest. battery had an obvious dead cell , but they wouldn't even look. it was like pulling teeth to get them to test the battery cells. and they tried to test the cell with a broken hydrometer, lol. tey told me they had no need for a hydromter in teir shop, lol. i've bought many batteries from these conmen , but never again , and i'll spread the word throughout the marine industry. a warranty is only as good as the company , and their warranty is a fraud. GO TO COSTCO THEY HONOR WARRANTIES AND REPLACE BAD BATTERIES. read more

I had an exceptional experience with Frank at Powerstride, my home security system was beeping and the error message said low backup battery. I brought the battery into the shop to replace it. Frank noticed that it wasn't that old and asked if I wanted to test it. He tested right then and told me the battery was fully charged and in good shape, suggesting that my system probably just needed a hard reset. Frank suggested I take the new battery as a "loaner" just in case it was in fact the battery if it wasn't he said just being it back. Off handed I was having some issues with my car battery intermittently not starting even though it was brand new. Frank said "let's take a look", he determined that the posts on the new battery were smaller than the terminals in the fully tightened position and weren't making proper and full contact. He asked his colleague to add some lead shims which solved the problem. Then responded by saying "no charge". I was floored by Frank's desire to have me leave satisfied even if it meant not making a sale. Good old fashioned honest business that treats the customer as friend not foe. I bought a battery from another company about a year ago. It died this weekend. The two great men at 'Powerstride' showed me why. It wasn't even rated for use in my 'Rav'...rather for a honda civic. The other company sold me the wrong, 3 year old battery! (The men showed me on the battery, the date it was manufactured.) Maddening. But...Now I am THRILLED to have 'Powerstride.' I'll admit I am slightly biased about this company because they are a vendor for us at work. However, the owner Frank helped me out when I was in a bind. You know how it goes, wake up, get ready for work, get out to the car and...nothing. Dead battery. It happens to the best of us. I'm just glad to know Powerstride is conveniently located in the Point Loma area behind the sports arena. The shop is very clean and staff is friendly. Their prices are way cheaper than any other auto parts store I've purchased batteries from in the past. I've learned my lesson and will only come to Frank from now on! read more

I can only write this review based on the customer service experience I had since I didn't actually buy anything from them. We had an "issue" with a large, 4D battery and I needed to get it load tested before reinstalling it in an RV. I called them up and they said I could bring it in at any time. I showed up there randomly and asked about getting the battery checked. They helped me out immediately and didn't make me wait at all. Furthermore, they didn't even charge me for their time even though the battery was not purchased from their store. This friendly and outstanding experience was really impressive. I would definitely recommend them based on this and I will go to them in the future when I need a new battery. Thanks! read more

I was buying their batteries when their store was on Kettner Blvd. Overall 35-40 years. Followed them over to Kurtz St. and this June 15th I took my truck battery in because it died after 16 months. Wasted trip to San Diego, wasted phones calls, gave up doing business with them. Their manager plays rough! Went to Lakeside Muffler & Welding and Gary Yates put in an Innerstate battery for the same cost. Two (2) year unconditional warranty. Pro rata after that. YOU CHOOSE WHO GOT THE SHAFT! read more

Great service! I needed a new battery for my electric bike and wasn't sure exactly what I needed or how to rewire everything together. They were super helpful, having the right battery on hand and even gave me connectors and helped me wire things together. I came back a few weeks later in need of a new connector, thinking I had to buy a whole new charger. Instead of trying to sell me something super expensive, they rummaged around some old parts they had and disassembled something with the right kind of connector. Took it all apart and handed it to me. The main guy (I think Frank?) was great. Their hours aren't the best - close by 4:30 week days and only open Sat in the morning, but they make up for it in service. read more

I 'need' a battery for my 2008 Honda Shadow... I called around and Powerstride Battery had one for a decent price of $75.00. I called both the local store and the 1-800 number, mainly because it was cheaper on-line and included free shipping. However, if bought on-line the store will not honor the warranty!!! Both places, the employee sounded like it has a hassle to help/answer questions. I decided to buy it from the store, when I got there I found out they give military 10% off..... yah! BUT the guy for got to give me the discount because he was on the phone and would not correct the price!!! Really!!! It was too much work!!! Such poor customer service, I can't imagine what would happen if I had problems while it was under warranty. I told him forget it I'll buy it somewhere else! read more

Whatever you do, do not order any mobility scooter batteries from this company. The batteries I ordered were installed correctly and were well grounded, but they arced like crazy and just fizzled out after 3 days of use. I found out that they were Chinese made, I don't know if that affects the quality in general, but they were horrible batteries. The salesman was just awful and combative when I reported that the batteries were bad. After an intense exchange, I would not give in and take store credit because I let them know I didn't believe in their battery products. The Powerstride Battery company likes to intimidate and strong arm disabled people into giving up. I managed to return the batteries for a refund minus the re-stocking fee. What an insult to charge an $89 restocking fee for crappy batteries! These batteries obviously flunked a deep cycle load test as well and they covered up that fact during the restocking -- they wouldn't give me the deep cycle battery load test results they supposedly did. Don't use this company for mobility scooter batteries, you'll just get grief. Besides, they're just a bunch of crooks. No Yelp.com Quality Stars for this awful company! Just pay a little more and get mobility scooter batteries at your local Batteries Plus store. Batteries Plus actually backs up their products and will take the time to ensure that the batteries are working ok. read more
