I have often asked him, on my oldest vehicle, what I can get by with to make the vehicle safe, not up to factory specs. The car is 18 years old. He also services my wife's car and my business vehicle, so I have faith in his abilities to do what it takes, without charging an arm or a leg in the process.. Dennis has solved problems the Toyota dealer couldn't solve. Why is that i wonder? Perhaps because the dealers hire techs fresh out of school, with no real experience? just asking.

I went in there to get some brand new tires mounted on my wheels, and they turned me away. They…read moreclaim they can't mount tires unless I buy the tires from them, for liability reasons. He then claimed that any tire I buy online is a blemish or factory defect, that's why it was cheap, and that the only way to get safe tires is to buy tires from him. This is simply not true, he was spewing this bullshit because apparently he thought I was an idiot. I feel bad for how many people must get scammed into dealing with this guy, as he is clearly delusional. I wound up going to Tires Plus where they mounted my tires without any problems whatsoever.

I needed a new tire and had my vehicle towed to Hammers as it was the closest place to my house…read more The repair was completed in a timely manner - however, two weeks after getting an alignment and four new tires from them (as my other tires were quite old and in need of replacement) my front axle snapped while I was driving home from the store. It had apparently rusted through and the car is now undrivable. I did receive a report of the base inspection after services had already been completed which did not indicate any danger of my axle snapping. I do believe that the services rendered by Hammers were done properly but had I known that the vehicle was that close to death, I would not have let them talk me into replacing all the tires. When we discussed the tire options, it sounded like the vehicle would last at least until winter as snow was brought up multiple times when discussing what would fit on my vehicle. In total I spent roughly $1000 dollars to be able to drive my car for thirty more miles. Not worth it. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

We started going to what was Shuppe's Auto a few years ago, as I was tired of getting fleeced at…read morethe nearby Nissan dealership (I'd go in for one issue and it would take them multiple attempts/guesses to fix), and Shuppe's had many recs for their honesty and quality of work. Since then, we have taken multiple vehicles in, for everything from basic oil changes to suspension replacements. An anecdote: there was one time one of my control arms broke while driving and I had my car towed there. They looked into the issue, and Chris called me to let me know that Nissan would probably cover this under warranty, because there had been what was almost a recall, but you had to actually experience the problem first (they wouldn't replace them preventively). I didn't know about this, and they could have just diagnosed the issue and done the repair themselves, and I would have been none the wiser. Instead, they saved me hundreds of dollars. Their work has always been reasonably priced and completed to our satisfaction. I'm glad that Aaron, who had been operating as the main mechanic as it was, purchased the business and is continuing on as Syverson Automotive. I also really like the small shop feel -- if there's a question on the work done or recommended to be done, he's right there and you can actually talk to him. The only negative: it can take a bit to get in sometimes, so give them a call a couple weeks before you might want to be scheduled, if you can.

The staff got right after it immediately and came back with some interesting information. Apparently, after a visit to a local dealership for a routine check up and oil change about a month and half ago, the dealership failed to assemble my tires securely to my vehicle. That's what the noise was. Holy crap, right?! After the guys told me, they went back, securely fastened the tires to my vehicle and charged me nothing for it!! NOTHING!! I was expecting a ball joint, a wheel bearing, or something else was the issue and was going to cost me a decent amount. How's that for honesty? I know where I'm coming for any future auto issues. I called around, and most places charged $500 or more, but Madison Auto Trim was around $300 at the time. I got the complete package, with mud flaps. It required the car be left overnight. That car never had any issues with rust. After having owned several cars that DID have issues with rust, I decided my next used car would get the rust proofing package again. I called Madison Auto Trim. The bad news was that now, over a decade later, the same package now costs $600. The good news is it no longer requires being left overnight. I called around again, most of the other places had kept their prices the same ($500-700) but no one else had any openings, so I stuck with where I knew. My appointment was at 3pm and they told me it could take as long as 2 hours. Surprisingly, I was done by 3.40pm. I wont know any time soon if it works as well as last time, but the service was excellent. I deducted one star because they went from being the most affordable option to somewhere in the middle.
