By Joseph Mas I worked with Kelvin Roquemore of Roquemore…read moreSkierski on a complex partnership dispute during a major professional transition. I specifically searched for a Texas attorney who focuses on partnership and shareholder disputes and chose Kelvin because his background aligned directly with this type of business litigation. Early in the engagement he helped craft my resignation letter. The language and structure he recommended later became pivotal as the matter progressed. This early strategic positioning set the tone for the entire engagement. Kelvin quickly absorbed a large volume of historical documents and years of business context in a short period of time. That rapid understanding of the history and legal landscape created immediate confidence. Communication was direct, timely, and collaborative. He consistently made space for my perspective and ensured my position was understood before moving forward. Strategy always aligned with my goals and long term considerations. I have worked with hundreds of attorneys across business environments. Very few operate as true strategists. Kelvin consistently approached the matter as a strategist rather than a technician and planned several moves ahead. When the case required transition to Delaware Chancery Court, Kelvin helped identify and vet specialized Delaware counsel and coordinated a fast, smooth handoff. The collaboration between teams felt tightly aligned and highly organized. He remained involved as a sounding board and advisor throughout the remainder of the process. Opposing counsel brought decades of experience in complex business disputes. Kelvin remained methodical, focused, and confident throughout. The matter concluded successfully and sooner than originally projected. This experience was a major professional turning point, and having steady and strategic legal guidance made a significant difference in how I was able to move forward. Kelvin Roquemore is a founding partner of Roquemore Skierski with more than 25 years of experience in complex business litigation. He is a Tulane Law graduate and former Fortune 500 senior counsel. He is also active in community service, youth mentoring, and local nonprofit initiatives. Even after the case concluded he remained in touch as a trusted advisor. He is someone I strongly recommend to Texas business owners facing partnership or internal business disputes. Even beyond legal representation, he is someone worth knowing.

I hired them to help with a construction company that stole my down payment, and they ended up mishandling my case too. They assigned me a contractor lawyer right before trial, filed my case in the wrong court, and then tried to charge me extra for a case in the wrong small claims court. I got that fee removed, but they should have returned most of my money. NO WORK WAS DONE. I strongly advise DO NOT USE THIS FIRM.

Afterwards I was told that the attorneys reviewed my info and wanted to meet with me to discuss but I needed to pay a hefty fee before they would tell me if I had a case or not or any information at all. This despite the ad here on Yelp saying they offer free consultations. I didn't have a problem with the fee, there was just too much uncertainty and I didn't feel like they would be a good partner for this sensitive issue. A simple "we think we can help you or at least offer some ideas based on what we've read so far" or "we don't think we can help you based on our initial review but would like more info"... would've been preferred. Instead it felt like they could just take my money just to say "sorry, we can't help you."

We completed mediation and then, when mediation failed, they refused to file suit. All they wanted was a quick settlement, quick money so they didn't have to do much work. As a paralegal, I know that when an attorney refuses to take your case to trial it is incredibly hard to get another attorney to represent you. By taking our case, never intending to represent us through trial, they basically ensured we would not be able to find another attorney and would not be able to sue to recover our damages. To say this is unethical is an understatement. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM OR THE SAME THING MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOU.

His motions and briefs were exceptionally well-written, and in the courtroom, he was brilliant -- quick on his feet, creative, and completely in command. How could we prevail on appeal without an accurate trial transcript. We lost on appeal due to the actions of the trial attorney and his failure to preserve the record with appropriate objections. We paid this attorney close to 150k and he refused to address the corruption in Erath county. I suspect it has something to do with the judge stopping trial day 3 and calling attorneys to chambers. Julian and Natalie Kohler joked during our mediation that Mackenzie Pack "was out of control and getting away with inappropriate conduct". Natalie Kohler herself spoke candidly that she didn't know why Mackenzie was getting away with her behavior. During our mediation Natalie Kohler also stated "we figured the money is running out and that's why Mr Meek non suited himself". I was not made aware he would be removed from lawsuit until it was done. It was a sneak attack by my own attorney and left me heavily prejudiced during the trial 30 days later. For those that don't know, this is a legal firm heavily involved with credit unions. When my whole…read morelife fell apart, I defaulted on a credit card I had with UFCU, and this is who they sent after me. As crazy as it sounds, the whole experience has been positive. One day I got a call from a number I didn't recognize, and before I called back, I looked it up online. What I saw scared the hell out of me. Several people who'd made similar financial mistakes had ignored B&Ws calls and letters, and things had escalated. According to a number of online complaints, B&W had sued to collect, and people had their bank accounts frozen and money taken from them to satisfy the judgement that had been won against them. I figured I was screwed either way, but I decided to call B&W back, hoping that by doing so, they'd work with me instead of taking my rent money out of my bank account. I was initially contacted by Victoria, who I swear is the nicest collections person I have ever spoken with in my life. My finances were still in ruin, and the best I could do was make a pitifully small payment every month. At that rate, it would take me years and years to pay it off, and I was certain they wouldn't accept that. But Victoria was fine with it, and so the saga began. I usually called in my payment every month, and on the odd month when I wasn't paying attention to the date, Victoria called and reminded me. She was always polite and friendly, and she even let me skip a couple of months or pay late when I had unexpected car repairs to take care of or just a shortage of cash that month. Eventually, I started using my bank's bill payment feature, and that's run very smoothly as well. After several years of this, I called them up and asked for my remaining balance, and it turns out I owed less than $200. I paid right then on the phone, using my debit card, and they mailed me a final statement showing every single measly payment I'd made over the years. I was finally done! And through it all, I hadn't had one negative experience with Blalack & Wililams. I'm sure I look completely nuts leaving a 5-star review for a legal firm that came after me for collections, but the truth is that Blalack and Williams (and especially Victoria) have made an embarrassing, scary, seemingly impossible situation not just bearable, but actually easy. They could have threatened me or sued me or made things so much harder for me, but instead they worked with me, giving me a chance to pay back the money I owed without making my financial situation any worse. I'm sure people will continue to ignore calls and letter from them, just like we do with most collectors, and I'm sure that as a result, a lot of people will deal with legal judgement and frozen bank accounts. But I hope some might read this and just call B&W back. I owed thousands, and they let me pay just $50/month for years until it was paid off -- and they never charged a penny in interest or additional fees. Honestly, I wish other debt collectors were as easy to work with as these guys are. It would have been much easier to get back on my feet if they'd all been as understanding and kind as Blalack & Williams was.
