We had two back to back very small bathrooms. We also had a hallway that went all the way through the interior of the house - from the front door to the master bathroom. Lots of wasted space. We asked Michael from Higgins Home Construction to close off the hallway where one of the bathroom doors was. This created space to open up the master bath, allowing a larger and upgraded shower to replace the outdated tiny shower. This also allowed us to put in a utility sink in the laundry room. My husband and I are very happy with the work that Higgins Home Construction did for us. Communication with Michael was easy with prompt replies to questions and requests. His team of plumbers, electrician, drywall, painters and others were all excellent. After each day's work, the work areas were left tidy and ready for the next work day. We ended up hiring this company again when because of water leakage from the outside, the carpet in a downstairs bedroom became water logged. During repair, it was discovered that the wall was just wood, no insulation or drywall. This was taken care of, the outdoor water leakage was repaired, and the carpet did not have to be replaced. We will definitely contract with Higgins Home Construction for future home improvement projects.

I contacted Jon and Deb to build two custom doors last summer. My exact request was: 2 identical…read moredoors to cover a 58"x 84" opening, using bypass track. Deb was quick to respond and set up an appointment to come out and measure the opening themselves, which was a requirement for their custom doors and installation. They determined I would need 2 doors approximately 83.5" high and convinced me to utilize a double track as opposed to a bypass track. Seeing as how I have installed exactly 0 barn doors in my life and this is Jon and Deb's business, I accepted their advice and measurements. Installation was rocky and took several hours, during which my doors were cut down because they were too tall. There was some minor paint damage along the way, and handprints to be washed off the walls, but the doors were up. I looked at them from inside the room and all seemed well. Fast forward a few months, and a visitor pointed out that what I had assumed was friction from the floor was actually my custom door rubbing up against my wall. This was disappointing, but I just stopped opening the door all the way in order to avoid damage to the door and my wall. About a month later, now on the other side of the doors, I realized the doors were too short and hung so low that you could actually see over the outer door and into the room the doors were supposed to be separating me from. Upon further inspection, I realized you could see over the inner door as well. This was a problem. I spent over double what standard barn doors would cost because the opening was taller than a standard opening. Receiving doors that were short enough to fit under the opening, cut to be even shorter, and then hung with a double track at a height that there was clearly a gap between the outer door and the top of the opening is not what I planned on receiving when placing this order. It's also not what I expect the average person (me) to consider , but certainly expect professionals to be cognizant of. I reached out to JonDorr and sent photos of these issues. Deb offered to come out to see if adjustments could be made due to settling. When I responded my availability but pointed out that it seemed the doors were too small for the opening, I stopped receiving responses. I even sent additional photos that she requested, and nothing. I can only assume they came to the same conclusion, that the doors were in fact too short. I cannot recommend this company to everyday consumers. Those with construction experience can double check measurements and installation if they feel like taking a chance.
