A few years ago a close friend said her son was going to test out a taekwondo class and asked if I…read morewould want to take my daughter to try it. She absolutely loved it and we joined (for a year) after that first class. She had previously been in dance for 3 years and it just wasn't her thing. She almost always wants to go to class and has made friends there. Mr G is AMAZING. He is patient as can be with the kids but doesn't let them walk over him and ensures they're respectful (not interrupting, focusing, polite to others, saying sir and mam.) He is soon testing for his 6th degree black belt. The kids love him. The cost isn't bad at all considering your children can go 5-6 days a week most weeks if you want them to. My daughter went 4-5 days a week for a while, we did zoom classes during Covid, and have been back in person for a while now. We moved from Southpark where we were 10 mins from class and now are 25-30 WITHOUT traffic and it's been a year since moving and I still can't imagine switching her. We usually only go 2 days a week now usually because of the drive, but my daughter practices a lot at home too. Initially, equipment needed is minimal; however, if they're going to stick with it, you should invest in the gear. She gets to test for her black belt in September!

I love this place and so does my son. He's picked up from school daily and taught discipline and…read morerespect along with learning an art form. Greatest and friendliest staff ever!! You won't be soap disappointed.

As someone who recently relocated from a major city (LA) to Charlotte, I was hoping that the lore…read moreof "Southern hospitality" was accurate, but unfortunately, when dealing with a money hungry corporation regional location is irrelevant. We were solicited at a public park by an instructor and encouraged to come to a free class. The "class" ended up being a 20 minute one-on-one sales pitch by an instructor to my daughter. Knowing no one and being new to the area we thought it would be a good idea and were comforted by the 3 day cancellation policy. Literally, within 2.5 hours of returning home we realized being a double working parent home the hours of classes were not suitable for our schedule and I emailed WITHIN 3 HOURS OF SIGNING-UP that we would need to cancel immediately. While we did not receive any communication or receipt of cancellation, they were able to charge our credit card. My Husband went to the location the following day to confirm the cancellation and begin the refund policy and the instructor told him he could not grant a refund, that we had to contact the Manager and that Manager didn't even answer HIS calls on the weekend. (Which business wise, you shouldn't be open for operation if you are not supervised by a Manager.) Regardless, we called today (the following business day, a Monday) and were met with the Manager's mirrored response. Although we issued a cancellation WITHIN HOURS, that ATA the corporation, was receiving the funds, that the branch would see no part of that and that there was no refund. So...to you ATA, the capitalist corporation that has created loopholes in it's own policies inorder to gain profit at the loss of it's customer base; We are disappointed in your skewed policy statement, let down by your manipulative agenda and false community mission and will surely NOT endorse you or any of your locations to anyone looking for a positive growth community for their children or selves. #ShopLocal

Everyone introduced themselves to me and I felt like part of the group before my first class was over. Since then I have worked hard and am now in my black belt apprenticeship. I am greatful for the work and time my Grand Master ( Dr. White ) and Sensei's have put into making me not only a good Martial Artist ,but a better person all the way around. You won't be able to walk onto any dojo floor and train with your grand master. It's been tough. Limits have pushed, but I am so greatful for every moment of it. This was suppose to be a challenge and it has been. I plan on always pushing and striving to reach that next level . With people like Shihan White behind me I know that will always be a possibility. I recommend Kenaki to anyone looking to try Martial Arts. The staff is wonderful and they work with children ages 3 and up. My own children take karate lessons at Kenaki, and I am very impressed with their growing self control and confidence they have obtained so far. Everyone get to try a class for free! Check them out!
