Power Life is my go-to workout spot! They have a variety of class types, instructors, and times offered. Most of the classes are heated which I love. The heat helps me sweat and helps me get more out of my yoga classes by helping with my flexibility. The instructors are friendly and ready to help. Any stressful day immediately turns positive when you take a class at PowerLife. Every instructor I have had since first starting about two years ago has been top notch, whether it's Sculpt, Power 2, Barre, etc. I really enjoy the variation of class offerings, too! The staff is so kind and friendly and it's really special to be apart of a community of people who truly want to become stronger versions of themselves. Powerlife is the best. I snagged their 30 days for $30 deal and ended up making it about 15 times. Each and every class felt like exactly what I needed in my life. Since every class and instructor is very different from the next, it can be daunting for a newcomer to figure out which one(s) to choose. However, this doesn't really apply at Powerlife because every class and every instructor was superb, and I really mean it. By far my favorite class is Warrior Werk. That is some sexy, strong, vibrant stuff that will have you leaving exhausted yet also feeling like you can conquer the planet and look good while doing it. Power Life is great! The teachers are welcoming, supportive and have a solid instruction base for their classes. I love getting a good sweat in the hot rooms. I have recently been introduced to the Sculpt class and it is definitely worth trying if you are looking for something a bit faster paced than yoga. It incorporates weights into body weight circuit so you can adjust the difficulty level. It's my new favorite! I look forward to attending more classes after the holidays. read more

I love this yoga studio! First of all, you get a free week of unlimited classes if you're new to try out anything you want. During my free week, I tried as many classes as I could, and ended up going to about 9 total in 7 days. I started with Power 1, which is much like other yoga classes I've taken in the past, and tried out their Power 1.5 and Power 2 classes, which are both heated. Whew, what a difference! I really like their style and that they focus on you going at your own pace, no matter which class I was in. All of the instructors I encountered were really friendly and helpful. I also tried a cardio barre class, and power restore. The cardio barre class kicked my booty, and I think this class with some of the cycling classes and sculpting classes would give someone what their looking for if they are looking for a more rounded gym experience. Power Restore has become my favorite of all the classes. It's late at night (8:15pm), which isn't everyone's forte, but it's super chill and relaxed, and is just what I need to get my mind right a couple times a week. I also happen to know the Acro Yoga instructor, and although I've never been to any of his classes, he has assured me that everyone is welcome to come try them, even though it looks intimidating, and he and his Acro instructor partner will teach you (or me) if you are willing! read more

Great downtown place to work up a yoga sweat. Classes are very structured and repetitious (they love crow a little too much for my liking) though I feel this will change as the instructors grow in their teaching practice and within the community. The location has 2 studios, nicely equipped with dressing rooms, water fountain, and plenty of storage cubes. A plethora of times for anyone's schedule. read more

I. Love. Power life. I was in town for only a week, and I was able to take advantage of their free week for new students. I WISH I could have paid them. That's how much I enjoyed this studio. The instructors and staff were so friendly. They knew my name, and they were genuinely interested in my life and what had brought me to Power Life. There is such a sense of community, and they welcome you in with open arms. The classes were hot, challenging, and fun. There are so my classes everyday that I was able to take everything I wanted. I came twice a day many days because I was loving it so much. I might move to Des Moines to keep practicing here. Highly recommended. read more

I love this place. They do accept drop ins and have some great deals for a block of classes. Make sure to come early because classes fill up fast but I love the variety of classes and different time slots that help to work with people's varying schedules. Eighth yoga review from the road. Owners Kirk, Vincent, and staff are wonderful and very welcoming of travelers like me from out of town. The facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean, showers/locker rooms terrific, and the quality of air in the studios is great even with the heat. Although this is a corepower/power vinyasa type studio, the teachers are very accommodating and open if you want to add extra asanas of your own around their sequencing. And they offer a few restorative classes per week to balance things out. Instruction is uniformly excellent and careful. The teachers are given room to add their own twists or styles in the upper level classes so be sure to try different ones. There are 4 locations in Des Moines and between them a class almost every hour so it's easy to just drop in. And even though the studio is large, it says a lot that they have developed a great sense of community amongst the students and teachers. Will look forward to returning the next time I'm in Des Moines. read more

I love the yogi variety offered by Power Life Yoga! Times and class offerings cater to all schedules. Here you won't have any issue finding a class that meets your fitness and meditation needs. I sincerely enjoyed my experience and look forward to returning to try another class. On my first visit, I chose the Power 2 class. As a regular yogi back home, I found the music and class structure new and pushed me out of my comfort zone! How great! read more

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE FRAGRANCE ALLERGIES!!! This studio has a complete disregard for fragrance allergies for its clients. They use fragrances in their changing areas, and in every class. There is a segment of every class that the teacher puts fragrance on a towel and wafts other over you while you are in corpse pose at the end of class. There is no warning or indication before class, that this will happen, and it permeates the entire space. After informing multiple people at the the studio of my allergy, they not only didn't take its severity seriously, they continued to use the fragrance I am allergic to, on me in class. And when I had a reaction in class as a result of this negligent fragrance use, Caryn (the manager of the Downtown location), without even asking if I was alright, essentially scolded me for disturbing her other students in class. Her complete lack of empathy or consideration regarding this matter was disgusting. She made it clear that there is fragrances used in all the studios and if I have a problem with it, I should go somewhere else. If you have any kind of fragrance allergy or reaction, don't waste your money or time on this studio. They don't deserve it. read more

The community of people is amazing and the classes and quality of instruction are the best I've ever taken. Being a part of it has improved every aspect of my health and quality of life. Every class is unique, but can accommodate a seasoned yogi/athlete or a beginner. I love that I always feel welcome, encouraged, and empowered and can't recommend Power Life Yoga enough! Power Life provides the best yoga in town. The instructors are really nice and friendly. They provide great instruction and they have an awesome variety of classes. However, I do wish that they would offer some power sculpt classes without the heat. I know a lot of people are deterred from going to power life because of the fact that they don't like to do yoga in such warm temperatures. If there were more classes that were offered without heat, I think a lot more people would want to go there. Also, it would be nice if they posted more about their special events on Instagram. I have missed so many events because I don't hear about them until they are over! Overall, this place is great. Give it a try if you haven't already! read more

In town visiting the wife's family and needed my yoga fix. Found these guys online and I was blown away. By far one of the best yoga experiences I've ever had. The staff was incredibly accommodating and my instructor, Steph, could not have been more welcoming. I honestly felt like a local. Took a Power 2 class with Caryn Lee at the downtown studio. When I walked in the door she was super friendly and gave me a tour of the studio. I felt so welcomed. I've practiced at many places across the country and I've never had as much fun as I had at Power Life practicing yoga. The community there is awesome! read more
