I got a quote from a national plumbing company; they told me I have to replace the entire sewer line in the yard and under the house, requiring them to break up the concrete for a small fee of $30,000! Lots of fearmongering and warnings about the pipes being shot. They didn't even clean one clump of roots because they said they were worried the pipe was cracked underneath. It wasn't! I got a second quote from Formica Plumbing. The plumber, Jeff Poulos, was very honest and wondered why I thought I needed the sewer line replaced. After he cleaned out the roots, he showed me the video live; it looked clean with nothing cracked, broken, or misaligned like the other company had claimed. He did find that the inspection tee in the yard was broken and quoted $5,000 to fix it. A much better quote, but I wasn't done. I called the Cuyahoga County Sewer Department, and they fixed it FOR FREE!!!!! It's something they cover. I am beyond thrilled with this news! I had put down a deposit with Formica and they were very nice about refunding it, Jeff did his due diligence and called the county sewer department to learn more about what and where they cover and is putting it in the company system, so this doesn't happen to customers in the future. I am so pleased with my transaction with Jeff and Formica. They are honest and customer-focused, no scare tactics to get business, and no fixing what isn't broken. I highly recommend them; I will use them for all my plumbing needs. In this day and age, it is so refreshing to find honesty on this level. I feel like I won the plumbing lottery!

Roto-Rooter came out to look at an existing sewer issue at my house. They had come out several…read moreyears ago and told us the pipes were misaligned and needed to be replaced. They cleaned the roots out of the line in the yard and did a good job with that. My issue is their deceptive sales practices. They used a camera on the basement sewer pipe and told us that the line and the outdoor lines needed to be replaced. The quote was $30,000 for both! They did not clean the basement pipe; there was a tuft of roots they left and didn't want to touch b/c they claimed the line was broken underneath and they didn't want to damage it. Of course, I got a second quote from Formica plumbing, an honest company, which cleaned out the basement line and found nothing wrong with it aside from the normal root issues. They found the issue in the yard line to be the access junction, which the county fixed for free! So instead of having to get a 5% loan and a HUGE repair I paid less than $1000. I found out they work on commission. No thank you Roto-Rooter!

Now here we are in April 2026 my sub pump failed again. I called and was told that my previously purchased sub Pump was under a three-year warranty so I would not have to pay for a new sub pump just labor cost. Someone came out and told my husband the cost would be $450 to replace the sub pump and then suggested he buy a better sub pump with the labor would be $750. My husband requested I only want the sub pump I purchased with the warranty. I do not need the labor. The plumber then left refusing to give us our sub pump and said that's not how we do business. IT WAS NOT DOCUMENTED that it's only under warranty if their plumber replaces it. I've called and inquired of the sub pump we purchased and they told me they would get back to me and have never gotten back to me. They are in fact avoiding me Getting a Lawyer by the way!
