We bought 3 bottles of wine home and they all were great. A bonus find was gluten-free beer for my daughter. They also sponsor local events to raise money for local charities. Pour Richards is the genius's desk of package stores. So much brilliance indecipherably scattered about, and the only person who can make sense of it all is likely assisting other customers. Because they, like you, need an inventory legend. And yes, there are signs for wine varietals and region, but they thrice did not have a desired bottle or style where it "should have been." Perhaps it's because they're truly a craft beer, wine and spirit store sandwiched in to an easy-to-pass retail front somewhere off the loop in Franklin, and therefore, are THE hot commodity for a discerning palate. A constant stream of customers means restocks fall behind, and not everything can be set in its rightful spot. But I was a customer in a hurry, and the sole employee (appropriately) tended to the two other folks in the shop before being able to point me to a Sancerre, a reasonable prosecco and answer a question about two differing price tags on a case of Mayflower. Easy to browse if booze is your bag, but your best suited to call in an order and pick it up later - 'twas a bit stressful to simply meander. read more

How fortunate I was to spend an uneventful evening in Franklin. While waiting for the early ferry to Martha's Vineyard last Saturday evening, I Yelped liquor stores. While heading there I thought the directions were wrong. However, in a nondescript building, there appeared Pour Richards. The second I entered, I knew this was the ultimate find. The inventory is incredible' however, at 8:45 pm to meet the passionate and professional owner Ann was mind blowing. Maybe as a good an experience in a liquor store as one can have. RUN, do not walk, here! hopefully you'll get there in time for whatever tastings they're pouring that day, and you'll try something of which you'll want to buy cases. because the wine is tasty, and prices are that good. it's not a huge selection, but the bottles they do have are literally jaw-dropping. I found a domestic bottle that a) I cannot find anywhere, and b) would go for twice the price elsewhere. the couple owner-operators clearly have a passion for wine they're not afraid to share. I can only hope they continue to make a profit so that I can visit over and over again! it's prob a good thing I live across the country because otherwise we'd have no more money, but a lot more wine. ps don't forget to check out the bargain boat. read more

Franklin is lucky to have this gem of a shop! The staff is all very friendly and knowledgeable and gives great recommendations-I have never been steered wrong by their picks. I didn't know much about wine, but they have turned me on to my favorite rose, which the owner calls "porch wine". There are plenty of liquor stores in and around Franklin, but Pour Richard's is so different from the others that you can't put it in the same category. Let me tell you why. First of all, there's Ann, who is one of the owners. She's been in the beer/wine/liquor business for many years, not as a retailer, but as a distributor. A distributor gets to see lots of stores, and knows what works and what doesn't. She also works with the producers, giving her inside knowledge of wines, beers and liquors. Because of this background, she can answer questions about what she stocks from her broad and deep knowledge. Knowing all those things also means that she can stock her store with things that many other retailers don't know about, like micro-distillers who are new and small, but produce excellent whiskeys. And of course, the same goes for beers and wine. You'll have choices you don't have at other stores, and an extremely knowledgeable sales person to help you make the choice that is right for you. Plus, it's not too busy and you have the time, you can get a great education from Ann about everything from the history Scotch to why a particular winery make unique wines. The other thing you have at Pour Richard's is a store that it is part of the community. They sponsor fund raisers for many organizations within Franklin. They get to know their customers, and most of all, they like what they're doing. The store itself has room for people to move around and talk during the daily (yes, daily!) wine tastings. There's a boat of wine (literally) that contains bottles from incomplete cartons. Ann gets them cheaper that way, and you get a good wine at a better price because of it. The place is not the easiest to find at first, but once you've been there once, you realize that it's really easy and fast to get to. It's actually no further from West Main Street than half the stores in Franklin Village, but with much less traffic and parking that is much closer to the door. Highly recommended. read more

This new business in Franklin is the place to shop for wine and beer if you are looking for good advice, an out of the ordinary selection, and very fair prices. I stopped in for the first time out of curiosity and left with two bottles of wine that were recommenced by the owners. Both were wonderful. I did a little checking on line for price and was pleasantly surprised. I would have been happy to pay a few dollars more for local availability and support a local business, but in fact, I paid less than so called "on line discounters". They do tastings during the week. I am definitely a fan of this place. It's a "hard to find" place that carries "hard to find wine", but once you find it, you're onto something special. read more

Went in for Father's Day weekend (My dad is a beer drinker) and was looking for something new to bring to him. John the owner showed me the deals they did, as well as how you can build your own six pack and then we ended up picking a combo of wheat beer and an ipa which my dad loved. I discovered Pour Richards by chance with three friends and could not have had a better experience. We were just going to stop in on the way to dinner to grab a few bottles for parties and gifts but ended up doing an impromptu tasting and staying for about an hour. Ann was so knowledgable, I learned a lot of fun facts and found some fabulous new wines. I enjoy a good wine, but I'm in no way an expert and this store is a great place to expand my tastes! This the best wine store in the area. It has a great selection of wine in all price categories. Anne and John are both extremely knowledgeable in the wines/liquor they sell and can steer you in the right direction. What's great about the store is the wine sampling bar, they are always offering wines to sample and a great way to try something new. It will get you out of your comfort zone. I walked in one day and Anne asked if I wanted to try a Rose'. My remembrance of it was Mateus from my younger days. Now I don't pass up anything she has to offer and rely on her expertise.
