Bob Harkey is a world renowned wine expert. No exaggeration! He's a graduate of the German Wine Academy in Kloster Eberbach, Germany and for 25 years he's been all over Europe doing whatever it is that wine experts do over there. He's a very down to earth guy, very approachable, and he really loves it when people ask him for wine advice. If you ask for a wine to go with chicken, he's going to ask what cut, how it's cooked, what spices are being used, , grilled or broiled, the side dishes, how much you're spending, etc, then he'll give you a couple of choices at very competitive prices. I went in there once and didn't see Bob, and I had a tricky wine decision to make. Bob's mother was working the register. She picks up the phone and called him, tells him there's a regular customer with a tough wine question, and put me on the phone with him. After answering all his questions, he talked me down towards the back of the store, giving me the exact shelf location of the perfect bottle. I had assumed he was in another area of the store, like in the office, but his mom told me he was home on a day off! I was embarrassed that she had put him out, but she assured me that there is nothing Bob loves to do more than help people with wine questions. I asked him once about a gift idea for my sister who is a real spirit enthusiast (and a bit of a snob about it). Bob produced a reasonably priced bottle of cognac that my sister still raves about years later. I've saved my favorite part of the store for last....the index cards! Bob travels all around the world buying wines and he tastes them all. For almost every wine in the store, he hand writes a brief review and recommendation on a large index card, which is affixed to the shelf or box where the wine is displayed. How great is it to know that the store's owner, a real expert, personally tasted the wine for you? I've spent way too much time in this store browsing the wines and reading Bobs index card reviews. I've moved a few towns over, and thanks to Bob I'm pretty good at picking out my own wine now, so I don't get over there too much any more, but Bob's still there, so I'm sure it's still the best place on the planet to buy wine. I wish I could give a sixth star.

I've been going here for the three years that we moved to this side of North. I have to say, I love the people in there. They have what I want, it's not overly priced. And every so often, I get a free glass for buying my regular beer. SCORE! I have to say, the people in there are extra helpful. If you're picking up for a party, they will help you carry out to your car. If you are looking for something, they will either help you find it on the shelf, or order it for you if they can get it. When I was looking for a limited run of beer, they held me some and called me when it came in... You just don't seem to get that from other packys in the area. It's why I keep going back!

Tonight we came in to buy a few gifts for our friends. We provided our IDs as requested, however, mine was not accepted because it was a few weeks expired. I informed the lady that due to this global pandemic, Massachusetts extended the validity of drivers licenses and ID cards until September 2020, and even longer for those expiring later in the summer (extended to December 2020). The RMV is also "not providing updated credentials to reflect the extended date". This information is also readily available on the Massachusetts.gov website. Despite both of us being in our 30s, I asked if my significant other could purchase instead and I could wait outside, but we were still denied. We had to leave, run an errand, and then drive back just so that my significant other could re-enter the store, re-pick out the liquors again, and then purchase again. Overall, I think the store itself has a great selection, but the customer service really needs work-- very unfortunate for a promising business. Update: A manager reached out to discuss my experience at the store and I greatly appreciated this. Today, 12/21/2022 however, when I went to make my payment I discovered my wallet was missing from my purse but was fortunately able to pay with my Waller account from my iPhone. My disappointment came later when I went to call the last store I visited to see if it was turned in, the cashier told me very bluntly that I could not loiter but has to take care of my business outside or at least in the breezeway. This has never happened to me previously when I had to call for an Uber or wait inside until they arrived. Perhaps the attendant (not the store owner) was having a very bad day but to not even express any words of understanding at any point was extremely uncaring. I also intended to return a case of empty bottles that I bought here the previous week. The owner told me that he does not accept returns after 12:00PM because the store is too busy. I pointed out that I was the only customer in the store and that I bought the empty case at his establishment and I was about to buy another. I also told him that they were REQUIRED BY LAW to accept returns during all hours of operation (MA Bottle Bill). He told me that he could do whatever he wanted because he owned the place - what an arrogant jerk to think he is above the law. I bought at least a case of beer here every week for years, but I will never set foot in this dump ever again. Suggest you also shop elsewhere... Customers can call the state enforcement at: 617-556-1054 to report their bottle bill law violation for refusing to accept returns during ALL times that they are open for business.

It looks a lot smaller from the outside than it actually is, and their wine selection is actually rather robust! There is a non profit named Community Servings that sells pies every year to help people who are shut in due to medical issues. The pies are absolutely delicious and comes in many flavors.
