Poundwise was a lifesaver when I first moved into Rathmines. We were decorating and didn't want the hassle of having to shop for all of our cutlery and crockery at once, so down we went to Poundwise and picked up a few bowls, plates, cups and basic cutlery items that were cheap enough for it not to matter if they got thrown off a ladder or covered in paint. They are still in the press and are used more often than the fancier stuff we later bought in Dunnes Home.
It's a small and uncluttered Poundshop, but very well stocked all the same. There's homewares like those mentioned above, as well as cheap toys, stationary, bike accessories like locks and lights, and lots of discounted chocolate bars and sweets.
I picked up a last minute Haloween costume here last weekend for €2, along with a packet of giant sparklers. read more
