It sells hayfever medicine cheaper than anywhere else in town and there are all the main brands of shampoos, hair dyes and moisturisers etc at cut prices. I don't know how they do it but it's worth taking a detour if your toiletry stocks are running low.

On top of all the things here that are already cheaper than usual, they always have offers on. The main draw are their prices; I just paid 89p for Vaseline, the new Loreal Perfect Colour 10 hair dye for £3.99, and 20 bin liners for 69p. It isn't as if you're getting lower quality for a lower price, as all their items are of known brands. A really great shop to save some pennies!

Whether it's washing up liquid, shampoo, batteries, cat food, assorted peanuts, or even milk, you name it and they probably have it here which makes it great if you're in a rush and need a random list of things. You of course have to choose carefully about what things are value for money, but for example, 12 AA batteries for a pound is pretty good. There are so many things here, and with staff that are actually surprisingly friendly, it's a shop I first think of going to when I need something. The only time I didn't get what I needed was when I was looking for a big round screw bulb - they had all other kinds of bulbs though. So next time you're in a rush and are racking your brain for a shop that might have a random item that you really, really need.. maybe give Poundland a go.

So much in one little shop…read more I popped in this morning just as they were opening (9am) and the two people working inside were so cheerful! I have never met a friendly saturday morning worker in my life, it was great to be met with a big beaming smile. Even though I couldn't find what I was after (some self adhesive wall hooks, stron enough to hold a coat - any ideas anyone?) I had a great experience in this 'find pretty much anything you are after' store! From pet accessories to allen key sets and wierd and wonderfull collection of goods.

On the contrary it's one of those magical shops that has whatever it is you're looking for. I go in for incense, they have it. I go in for a present for my niece, they have it. Don't let the name confuse you though, the only trading will be with actual money!

You will notice Jason's Trading Post from the outside because of the amount of stuff they have out on the patio in front of the doors - from gardening pots, to sink trays, to cooking ware - they really do offer a load of random bits and pieces. The best thing about the place is that they are really cheap, so if you are a bargain hunter then you are in for a treat - you will probably find that everything is much cheaper than it would be from any chain store - and the staff are so friendly and happy too which just makes a bonus! It's a great place if you are after something for the home but you're not sure where they would sell it, as you will probably find this shop has what you are looking for. It's also good to just have a look around to get some inspiration - it's hard to leave the place without a few items in your hands!

It is about 30 or 40 miles away on country roads, but as it had been advertised so far and wide, I thought that it must be something special. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is in a huge warehouse that feels cold and draughty, and the stock is spread throughout the place really quite sparsely. There were one or two famous names, but these were at higher prices than you would expect to pay down any high street. Most of the stock was very mediocre, and the staff seemed to realise that they were working at an over priced market stall, because their attitude was extremely off hand and unpleasant. My visit here was one of the biggest wastes of a day I have ever had.

This is Kingswood's answer to the empty boots left behind by Woolworths - your good old friend, the discount store. From Tupperware to umbrellas to novelty paper plates this shop has all the wonderful and tacky yet vaguely useful stuff you can no longer find in the aforementioned ex-retailer. They do sell a small amount of food (mostly crisps and chocolate and probably best avoided) but the focus is definitely on house and home products. None of it is fantastic quality but you get what you pay for.

Having read previous reviews about Buyology I think they've missed the point. Think of it as a…read moremutliprice discount retailer eg. Poundland with items that cost more and less than a pound. What you're getting here is redundant stock and nearly out of date food at cheap prices. Admittedly there are some cheap, low quality products in there but pick and choose what you buy. Quite a lot of the food is heavily discounted compared to supermarkets which is great, the only problem is that the next time you go back they might not have the same product. Generally this doesn't bother me, for example they've always got discounted crisps but not necessarily the same brand. I have once experienced a product being poor because it was close to its sell by date but I've saved so much over other products its not a worry. The shop has loads of selection and such a wide range of products that whenever we need something at home I pop in to Buyology to see if they've got it. I haven't had much experience dealing with the staff but the one time I did ask if they had any more stock of an item a gentleman checked their delivery that had just arrived and got me another one - he did say it was rare being able to get it that easy off the delivery but half the thing for me is that he actually made the effort to go and look.

Buyology is a large discount store on the Wylds Road Industrial Estate in Bridgwater. It used to be…read moreknown as Hyper Value Mega Store. When it was Hyper Value it seemed rather empty and low on stock. Now its a Buyology Store its packed with goods (many of them still in cardboard boxes) and it takes a while to walk around the whole store. The stock is typical of most discounts stores and prices are low as you would expect. I think these shops can be useful for buying little things that you don't want to spend too much on and I usually buy things like candles, stationery or pens from Buyology. This shop has a large stock of children's books and games but not of them looks worth buying! I recently bought a cheap dictionary and a thesaurus from Buyology, which was a mistake as they have hardly any words in them! The dictionary doesn't even include Aardvark!

I can imagine Peter Jones's face as someone explains to him the idea of a shop that sells discount cakes and confectionary. It's a bizarre idea yet one that seems to work fairly well. Everything from pork scratching to pop corn to Quavers - all at incredibly marked down prices. True this may be a poorer end of town but could they not have had a slightly more healthy idea? It does what it says on the tin so I can't fault that - it's just a funny tin that's all.

This one located in the centre of Fishponds always seems really busy so they are obviously doing something right. You won't find any designer items in here, but to be honest anything selling high end things in this area won't survive. This area is all about the bargains! I would say this Poundstretcher is one of the better ones. There is enough space to maneuver around without reaching over and squeezing past other customers. They have organised the place well, which is another thing I really appreciate. The only thing that makes me drop a couple stars is that the quality of their goods isn't as good as what you would get from say Robert Dias.

The vaue isn't as good as, lets say, and poundland, but the choice is perhaps a lot more varied and you can probably actually find more stuff that you'd actually use. Especially when I go into shops that stock gardening equipment. I'm a recent convert to the delights (and frustrations) of gardening, and so there always seems to be ever more equipment that I can buy to make my life easier. (If only they would produce some sheers or pruning sheers that automatically killed nettles and brambles at the root, then my life would be a lot easier!!!) A - Z Family Discounts don't do a huge amount in the gardening department, but I still found myself buying a couple of things that I needed. A - Z Family Discounts is run by a really lovely couple that will help you navigate the shelves if you get a little lost. It's not that their shop is so vast that it's impossible to find things, it's just that they carry such a diverse range of stock that things are not always easy to find. It's a case of there being a bit of this and a bit of that, and so it's difficult for consistency to be achieved in the layout in certain areas of the shop. They stock a good range of cleaning equipment and household items as well as a variety of tools, fancy goods, gifts and toys as well as the gardening range.
