I'm always a bit sceptical of any store that calls itself 'catalogue bargains'. I always wonder why…read moredid the products sell? is there something wrong with them? are they seconds? But recently when strolling past I happened to notice that had some Christmas wrapping paper in the window. Christmas was getting closer and closer and I always panic that I haven't got enough so went in to take a closer look, in all honesty expecting some thin, 'cheap' paper, how wrong I was! the paper was Lovely, the sort of quality you would expect from a reputable store such as m&s. I ended up buying reems and reems of the stuff. They also had some lovely gift ideas, and had I not already done my xmas shopping, I would've found lots of useful bargains here. All in all.. I was quite, quite impressed!

When you go into Scarborough twn centre you frequently see catalogue bargain shops carriers. People…read moresing its praises and recommend it. It does vary on the day and sometimes I haven't bought anything and another day have staggered out with bags of stuff .It is ex-catalogue stuff and now and again they have a sale and sell stuff off really cheaply ,i have had trousers for 62p and skirts and tops for silly prices.I have a much admired padded jacket which I bought for £2.49.It was a size 28 and I altered it to an 18 but it was well worth the effort. They sell some furniture and household items. They get televisions dvd players and a host of other electrical stuff. They have some toys and there are some god bargains in footwear. The only problem is that you can get hooked and it is hard to resist things that you dont need when they are really cheap.

This branch of Poundland is located in intu Eldon Square, fairly close to Old Eldon Square and it…read moreis basically inside the Bus Station, from the outside the store does look quite nice and a little bit modern, but as you go in, it begins to become more average, typical and uninspiring and pretty much an average Poundland. The selection of drinks is limited, the pricing was quite good, they mainly sold cans and things like that however, I'm normally a person who prefers drinks in bottles, plastic or glass rather than cans which I find to be a frustrating mess. The store its-self had some items for decent value, some for not, and some items which in my opinion were just junk. There was a decent amount of space in the store for movement, a little more than the average Pound Shop normally has which was decent. The location is also good being inside the bus station making it one of the easier places to grab a drink before you get on the bus, with prices probably cheaper than Waitrose nearby, albeit a poorer selection and a greater selection than Boots also in the same building, which only sells Coca Cola in Diet and Regular, unless you go up onto the main level of the store. Location mainly earns an extra star, this store deserves two stars in my opinion as it is okay, yet in all below average and the stores slight modern features and location at least warrant a two star rating.

Well well, what can I say about Poundland? Firstly it goes without saying that everything is £1,…read moreaha. Funny aren't I ;) but seriously, I have heard people asking sales assistants how much things are Anyway, Poundland do sell some absolute rubbish but there also diamonds to be found. They sell loads of computer components that sell for £8+ in other shops. they sell tons of branded cosmetics (I saw Rimmel foundations and eye pencils last time I was in) and shampoos that are £2 elsewhere so are worth stocking up on! Also they have lots of things that would make awesome stocking fillers for kids and their friends, such as Bratz and Harry Potten moneyboxes which sell for £5+ elsewhere. Their decorations are good quality too, and cheap and cheerful - important given the current financial climate as you need to stretch the pennies! So many people are snobby and shun these kinds of shops for selling tat, but if you actually keep your eyes peeled you can save a lot of money by shopping there for your toiletries and other home essentials.
